We liked Capestrano. It's a beautiful medieval town on a hill that looks magnificent during the day and even more at night. The house was tiny (there were five of us) but cute. The location is very good for trips, it is close to national parks. We visited the national park Gran Sasso which is an excellent place for hiking, there is the highest mountain of the Apenines - Corno Grande. If you reach the hotel Campo Imperatore (by car or by cable car), it is only 3 hours walk to the top and during it, there are gorgeous views of the mountains. We visited the cave Grotte di Stiffe (which was really good in the hot weather :-)). Capestrano is also not far away from nice beaches, it is only about 45 minutes by car. I must thank Joseph for the well equipped bookcase - there are lots of guide books about the whole area and also about Italy and its history. I liked reading about it very much!

We had a wonderful stay at Joseph's house. It is a special and cosy place. I loved the well-equipped kitchen, the reading options, the bedroom and the fresh mountain air. The lovely Irina secured an easy and quick Check-in and also Joseph makes sure his guests are comfortable. He can give you tips for trips etc. Capestrano is a cute village situated above a hill (picturesque!) with an old stronghold from which you can enjoy an astonishing view! It is a 15min drive to Popoli and max 1,5 hour to the Gran Sasso. Make sure to go to Rocca Calascio - it is a dream! We can highly recommend visiting this beautiful area, it is definitely worth it and a god getaway from all the Italian trouble you may encounter during a trip. ;-)

The house is nice and functionnal and the village nice as well. The adriatic sea is 45 minutes, there are plenty of small vilages to visit, we particularly enjoyed visiting Sulmona. For those who want to walk, you should maybe prefer may or june cause the summer is very hot and dry. When traveling to Italy you should buy insect repellent to prevent from mosquito bites. It's a good place to relax.

It's fantastic old house in small town, good equipped and cozy. Beautiful surroundings, close to sea, good starting point for Abruzzi tours. We spent there good time. We truly recommend this place.

Joseph's place in Capestrano was great for our purpose. There was plenty of room and the place was clean and cozy. On the first night we didn't pay enough attention to cooling down the place, so it was bit too warm upstairs. Cooler and opening anough windows helped on following nights. The location is great to go around Abruzzo and especially the always wonderful Gran Sasso. If you are looking for a place in Capestrano, this is highly recommended!

Joseph's house is great. We had an amazing stay at his house in the beautiful town of Capestrano. The town itself is quite picturesque, perched at the top of a hill, with original housing and large castle at the top of the town. The area is also great for visiting the surrounding towns of Abruzzo - we highly recommend Caramanico Terme, and a visit to Rocca Calascio to name a few. The housekeeper Irina met us in town to take us to the house. She was very nice and showed us everything we needed to settle in. The house itself is comfortable and clean. It get's cold at night (even during May), however the wood pellet heater kept the upstairs area well heated. The kitchen is was well-equipped with all the basics to prepare meals. The stove top uses a gas bottle, which was unusual to us, however was not difficult to use. There is no designated car parking space, however parking is quite easy in the area. The wifi was also very reliable and of decent speed. We would highly recommend this house to anyone planning to visit Capestrano or the surrounding area, and would definitely stay again should we return to Italy in the future !
