Our house is located in the ancient town of Capestrano, Abruzzo. Founded in the 13th century, Capestrano offers a variety of inspiring architecture, eventful history, countless vineyards, fabulously friendly locals and a simply unforgettable view.
Situated in the mountainous Abruzzo region, this beautiful town is just 45 minutes from the beach, 30 minutes from the ski slopes, 15 minutes from the Gran Sasso national park, and 90 minutes from Rome. This is an undiscovered part of Italy!
The house comes with parking. Capestrano is located about 10km from the main highway going between Rome and Pescara (A25)

The fully equipped kitchen comes with some basics too: coffee, sugar, salt, olive oil, dried pasta and mixed herbs.

Staying at this cosy little house in Italy it was our first experience of Airbnb. Capistrano is exactly what you would expect in an old traditional Italian hilltop village. The little houses are squeezed cheek to jowl and extremely quirky. It is a great base from which to explore Abruzzo. From the start communication from Joseph and Tanya was fantastic, it made us feel confident that we wouldn't have any problems and that turned out to be the case. They made our first Airbnb experience so good that we have done it again already, and are already planning another trip. If you want to see the real Italy then don't hesitate to book.
We had a very nice time in Capestrano, I would say too short! It is the perfect place for nature lovers. We visited two natural parks The Gran Sasso and the Majela, both of them higly recomended. The haus is rustic and cosy, our children liked specially the open chimeny in the kitchen. Everything was very clean and you find all the necessary (coffee, pasta, olive oil and a very good bottle of wine). We didn't meet Tanya and Joseph in person but the comunication before and during our stay was fluently. Irina, the person who welcome us was very friendly and helpful.
Definitely we are comming back!
Overall a terrific base from which to explore Abruzzo: conveniently close to the regions parks and hiking trails but a quiet, peaceful, and comfortable home base. We would happily return and recommend the place to friends!
Wonderful time and we loved the place. Prosecco on the terrace... made tiramasu and celebrated my birthday while hosts Joseph and Tanya were off on their honeymoon. They arranged for Allesandro to meet us - he claimed to be not Italian, but Capestranian - so we knew we were in for truly local fun and help. He was great and we promised to look him up next time.
He arranged a horseback ride for myself and my daughter, and encouraged us to see the nearby Rocca Calascio (Italy's highest-elevation castle ruin). It's an amazing site with an interesting history. Visit it by car - up a 20-switchback road, with only a short hike required. We love the area and hope to return ìn the spring to do some hiking.
A fantastic little place perched on the side of the hill just down from the centre of Capestrano. Warm welcome from Alessandro, just don't follow the sat-nav to get there! Beautiful region and only a short walk to the village shops if you're feeling lazy. Home to amazing food, a relaxed way of life, and the most beautiful river we've seen!
