We've spent Christmas at Mike's house and we've had a wonderful time. Mike was extremely helpful and let us check in late at night, which was great; he also kept in touch with us during our entire stay.
The apartment is very spacious and clean with a characteristic architectural style (..steep stairs included!). The kitchen is probably the part we loved most - big, cozy and perfect for a family of four cooking all together.
The neighborhood is great, with small characteristic shops all around and also close to everthing we wanted to see.
It was our first visit to Amsterdam and we couldn't ask for more, because of the location we were in 10/10.
We definitely would stay again at Mike's place ! top marks all round..
Such a beautiful apartment in such a beautiful location. Very highly recommended.
Mike's apartment is fantastic - amazing location right in the heart of the 9 Streets (Negen straatjes) neighborhood of Amsterdam, beautifully decorated, and really spacious for an apartment in Amsterdam. We stayed with our two kids and even had some friends over for Thanksgiving dinner while we were there and it was perfect. It's the apt we would like to own if we could. The kitchen is spacious and has a little breakfast table, and there is a great Whole Foods-type supermarket on the street called Marqt where we could buy whatever we needed for breakfast and our Thanksgiving meal. While at Mike's place, we had the unusual experience of the electricity being out when we woke up - we didn't realize at first that the entire block was affected, and Mike, though in Miami at the time (thus 4am for him), was immediately responsive and helpful. He gave us the number for the electric company hotline, account number, etc, and sent someone local over to help. It came back within an hour, so it did not turn out to be a long term problem. We would definitely love to stay here again when in Amsterdam next time. One thing to note is that there is no elevator and three steep staircases, so if stairs are a problem for you, this is probably not the best apartment to rent. (However, this is not unusual in Holland)
We had a great stay in Mike's appartment.
We received a lot of information from his friend Hiru about the city and the area, and the appartment is as shown in the pictures.
Great kitchen with everything you need.
The area is great and about 10 minutes walk from Dam square.
All in all - great appartment, great location.
We were very glad that Mike could accommodate us for a last minute booking! His friend Hiro met us and was able to work around our arrival time, which was great. The apartment looks just as pictured and the kitchen is perfect if you are planning to cook during your stay... complete with a big stove and a dishwasher so you don't spend your vacation washing dishes :) The best part of all was the location, as everything we wanted to see was in walking distance. Thanks Mike!
Mike's place was great! Right in the heart of 9 Streets, great bars and restaurants just outside the front door!
We were 1 couple and 2 single guys. The setup and layout worked great for us. 1 bedroom with a king bed, and one room with 2 singles.
There is a half bath on the first floor, and on the 2nd floor there is a jack-and-jill shower/tub combo with 2 sinks connecting both bedrooms. The toilet is out is the hallway (through a hidden door) which makes getting ready with that many people VERY convenient!
Note that the steps are very steep so if you have trouble with steps, you may want to think twice. It was no problem for us but getting luggage up and down required some help.
We walked EVERYWHERE from there - Van Gogh, Anne Frank, Dam Square, Red Light, etc...
All is all we had a great time and we HIGHLY recommend Mike's place!
