Extremely convenient to the airport. Clean, with new beds. Hot water, Remote control AC, a tasty breakfast of bacon/scrambled eggs, toast, fresh squeezed Uzis is provided, if you are around. I only dealt with the younger manager, he was extremely helpful, carried my bag up the stairs, called taxi for me ast 5am wake up call, etc. A great value with its 5 minute proximity to the airport.
Great stay overall! Very comfortable. Beds are clean. Bathrooms are nice and the shower had warm water, appropriate for the warm weather in Guayaquil. Internet was a little spotty in the room and kept going in and out. Apart from that small hiccup, I really enjoyed my stay here.
I only stayed for a night since I my flight arrived late at night and I wanted to take the bus to Cuenca the next day. Vanessa always responded to my emails very quickly. Felipe met me at he airport to give me a ride to the guest house. He also brought me to the bus the next day. He is very kind and helpful!
The room was simple but clean except for some little ants. The only drawbacks were the noise from the street and that I didn't get breakfast because the employee didn't come that day.
It is surely a good just for a long layover!
Perfect place to spend the night between flights!
Things we loved about Tabuba Guest House: - Remote control air conditioning - Hot water - Newer and clean beds, linens, design - Included breakfast - Quiet rooms (not that much street noise, unlike other places we stayed, which is normal in the city) - Keys to lock room door - Front desk answered phone even in the middle of the night when we were lost - Very nice man spoke English and helped us with many questions, including last minute travel plans - Letting us keep bags behind the desk for some hours while we went out - Central location - Close to (right above) pharmacy.
A few other comments: If you don't eat meat, make sure to tell them before they cook your meal - eggs had ham in them (but they were happy to make me another when I asked.) There didn't seem to be many places to eat nearby that had high quality meals. If you are comfortable eating at street vendor type places, you would have quite a few options. Otherwise, grab your food before heading to the guest house.
About Ecuador in general: Pack a little TP or babywipes in your purse/pocket. It isn't offered at all bathrooms (Iike public bathrooms), or they charge more to have some. Avocados saved me! I don't eat meat, and it was hard for me to find anything without meat to eat. I ordered basics and added my own avocado. There are street dogs - some are well-cared for, others not. (Especially in some rural areas.) Buy a small bag of dog food, and put a small baggy in your pocket or purse. The hungry ones really appreciate it - the well-cared for ones will turn their nose up at it. :-)
Best things to do near this guest house: The central park that is also called the Iguana Park. Fun and amazing. The Lighthouse with view of the city - especailly at sunset. We found that 2 days were enough to see the highlights of this city.
We would for sure stay at this guest house again if we were in the area and would suggest you stay here. This Guest House is almost a hotel or US Bed and Breakfast, not a house or homestay. Very nice! Great value!
Nos alojamos una noche porque debiamos hacer escala en Guayaquil y coger un avión a la mañana siguiente.
La habitación estaba muy limpia, la cama muy comoda y totalmente equipada.
Lugar muy recomendable.
Our stay at the Tabuba Guesthouse was excellent . The hosts were accommodating and informative. The property is near the airport, clean, and secure. I would definitely stay with these hosts again.
We had a great stay at the Tabuba Guest House. We chose the location due to its proximity to both the airport and the main bus terminal. It was literally a five minute taxi ride to each. We arrived really late (1am) and someone was there to greet us and show us to our room. The room had air conditioning and it's own bathroom. The guest house is also fitted with wifi which is a little spotty in the upstairs rooms. The neighborhood is nothing to rave about but if you are looking for a nice comfortable stop off before heading to other parts of the country, THIS is your place!
Basic yet clean facilities. Helpful host.
This was a great place to stay if you have a short layover between flights or busses since it is only 10 min from the airport/bus terminal. It was very clean with comfy beds. The young man at the front desk was very helpful and available.
