Description

The space

My large flat is comfortable and does not feel cramped. It is on the second floor, no elevator. Your room is spacious with lots of natural light and blackout blinds for undisturbed sleeping. The bed is very comfortable... People always remark that they get a great nights sleep.

It is a shared bathroom but I take most of my showers at the gym.

Please note, I only allow two people at a time. This is the best deal in Padua... you literally walk just minutes to the train station, and to the center historic area.

Linens and towels included.

Street parking available, no assigned space.

My flat is very near the train station so expect some noise until about 10pm. It is really not that bad and most of my guests don't even notice.

Usually, if a guest stays more than 3 nights, I leave for a a couple days to allow a measure of privacy. But this does not happen all the time, and it depends on my schedule.

Interaction with guests

Jay can provide advice for getting around or area attractions. Ask him about his two published books of photography and poetry about his travels in many parts of the world.

The neighborhood

With the train station just a block away, all northern Italy is within an easy affordable train trip. Milan and Florence are less than two hours away, and Venice is just 25 minutes. There are bars and pizza restaurants within a five minute walk, and the vibrant beautiful center of Padua is 10 minutes away.

Getting around

Padua is very walkable. The museums and historic center can be reached in under ten minutes. Tram to the center of town located at train station. The Padua train station is central to the area and numerous towns in the mountains can be reached in under two hours. It's easy to use this as a hub and explore a wide range of cities and towns.

If you arrive by car there is street parking but no assigned place. Usually you can find a place on my street or one or two over, but I cannot guarantee this.

Other things to note

Jay is well acquainted with the area and can give you pointers on where to go.

Wow! Jay was so fantastic with communicating the details for his apartment and very helpful generally! His place is amazingly placed if you are travelling by train to/fro Padua and don't mind a walk or public transportation to the sights in the old town. Padua itself has a lot to offer for sightseeing/history etc. If we were returning to Padua I would stay here again.

We stayed at Jay's appartment for two nights while visiting Padua. The room and the appartment are very nice. Some people might find the traffic noises disturbing because the flat is close to the train station. Jay himself is a really cool guy who gave us tips on what do in Padua and who was overall very friendly and communicative. Would definitely recommend a stay!

If you are looking for a base near the train station, Jay's apartment is ideal (take earplugs if you don't like the noise of trains) A supermarket is a block away. We found the bed comfortable. Jay was most helpful with suggestions for sight seeing.

Jay is a great host. He is friendly, very responsive and helpful and also respects the privacy of the guests. He can give some good tips for restaurants and stuff to do in the area. The room itself is quite basic, with a double bed and a limited amount of storage space. It is well worth the price however, given the relatively low price and the fact that Jay also allows you to make use of the kitchen. Location is decent, being within walkable distance from the city centre and near a transportation hub where you can take the tram, buses and trains. This makes his appartment for people that want to visit more of the area around Padua or make city trips to nearby cities such as Venice or Bologna. Downside to being so close to the station is of course that there is a respectful amount of noise from the trains and other traffic. For me personally, that wasn't too much of an issue however.

Exactly as described: comfortable, homely apartment, with easy access to the train station for convenience when travelling to the large nearby cities. Jay is very helpful and welcoming, we felt very much at home in Padova!
