About this listing

The space

Beautiful, cozy home with 4 bed, 3 bath and hot tub.

Home has 3 levels:

Bottom level has queen size bed, 2 sofa-chairs plus satellite TV, en-suite bathroom. This room has 3 small windows and 3 doors (one door to outside (house-side entrance), one door that leads to the stairs to go upstairs, and one door to the bathroom).

Main level has an open plan living/dining/kitchen area with cathedral ceilings and opens onto a large deck with Lake Views and BBQ area. The deck has a stairwell that leads to the front of the house-(front access). Living room offers a 40 in flat panel TV with satellite, fireplace, I-pod Sound-dock, and wireless Internet. The kitchen has been updated with a Wolf stove, stainless steel French doors fridge, and a beautiful black granite counter. The original wood kitchen cabinet were kept in order to maintain the rustic "Tahoe cabin" look that we love!

Also off the main floor are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed, a large window and a glass door that leads onto a private deck overlooking the forest. Bedroom 2 has a queen size bed, and 2 large windows. There is plenty of closet space in both bedrooms. Additional linens, towels and blankets are stored in these closets.

Mezzanine has a loft, one master bedroom and one bathroom. The loft has amazing lake views, 2 futons, a table and chairs. Master bedroom has queen size bed, twin size bed, a toddler bed, and a glass door that opens onto a private deck, which overlooks the forest.

Hot tub is located outside and is independently accessible from all 3 levels.

There are 2 doors to access the house: the front door that connects the front deck to the living room, and the side-door on the bottom floor.

The house is centrally located in Kings Beach with a 2 min drive to the lake and Safeway, 5 min drive to Northstar, 20 min drive to Squaw Valley, and 5 min drive to the casinos in Nevada.

Me and my friends enjoyed our stay in Paola's cabin! Each couple was able to have their own privacy with the multiple rooms, bathrooms, and floors that the cabin has. The common area was an open floor plan that felt very large. The kitchen was also well stocked. We cooked a few meals. The hot tub does take several hours as suggested in her suggestions, but once it was heated it was enjoyable after a day on the slopes. The location was ideal as well. It was only 5 mins away to restaurants, the lake, and Safeway. It was also very close to Northstar, but my group ended up going to Sugarbowl which wasn't far at all (40 min).

Paola wasn't onsite during the visit, but she provided an entire list of how to's for the house and must sees in the surrounding area and made sure to send it well before our arrival date for me to review. The house itself was great. It's huge, so you can get privacy but at the same time was very homey and cozy. The driveway is VERY steep and narrow; if your group is coming in multiple cars, have a plan based on who needs to take off earliest the next day. Also, be careful on the stairs from the bottom level to the communal areas; they are pretty steep. The house itself if pretty huge. If people are sleeping in the mezzanine though, plan for those to be the ones most likely to stay up latest, as it is right over the communal areas. There's a lot of cookware in the kitchen and a ton of fridge space, so you shouldn't have any issues, though knives could be sharper. Essentials are listes as not part of the amenities, so you do have to bring body and hair soap and toilet paper, but there is plenty of bedding and towels available; our group of 9 was fairly greedy with them and we still had plenty left over. The hot tub took a while to warm up; instructions said 2 hours, but the first two nights of skiing, we turned it on when we got back had dinner and waited but it was still lukewarm. Last day a group did a half day and turned it on when they got back, and by the time the rest of us got back 3.5-4 hours later, it was great.

Paola was a great host. The house was comfortable and spacious for my group of 10. Location wise, it was very convenient, since it was only a 5min drive to Safeway and northstar. The only downside is the sofa needs to be replaced because you sink right in when you sit on it. The driveway can also be challenging to maneuver out of if you have more then one car. Overall my group and I enjoyed our stay.

Paola's place is warm and cozy, and the layout worked perfectly for my group. The kitchen is large and flows nicely with living areas. All rooms were comfortable and private. The hot tub was clean, private, and large enough for my group of 8. We all enjoyed it especially after a long skiing day. The pictures don't do justice to Paola's home. I will definitively stay here again.

We had a relaxing weekend at Paola's Tahoe house. The location is fantastic for a summer rental. We were able to walk to the beach (about 1.75 miles away), it was quiet, and smelled divinely of pine trees. The great room accommodated our large group well. The house has also been well maintained in many ways: there aren't any broken appliances, the plumbing all works great, etc. That said, this is an affordable rental and you get what you pay for. The beds are all older mattresses and not there for comfort. The sofas, in particular, could really use replacing (the springs seem to be broken, and therefore you fall into it), and the dining table is too small for the size of the house (and doesn't stay together as the center latch underneath is broken). The carpeting has seen better days, and much of the outside wooden stairs, both decks and their wrap-around benches are rotten. Paola was great at communicating with me around booking and before arrival at the rental, but it seems that we had a miscommunication around the checkout time. The cleaning crew arrived not just before the time we'd agreed upon, but before the official checkout time written in the paperwork. We were also unable to use the hot tub. When we pulled the cover off, we discovered that the water was very dirty and smelled weird/bad. That was disappointing.

I've lived in North Beach since 2007, in San Francisco since 1991. I love the North beach neighborhood because of its cultural richness, the great weather, and exquisite food!
