Beautiful, cozy home with 4 bed, 3 bath and hot tub.
Home has 3 levels:
Bottom level has queen size bed, 2 sofa-chairs plus satellite TV, en-suite bathroom. This room has 3 small windows and 3 doors (one door to outside (house-side entrance), one door that leads to the stairs to go upstairs, and one door to the bathroom).
Main level has an open plan living/dining/kitchen area with cathedral ceilings and opens onto a large deck with Lake Views and BBQ area. The deck has a stairwell that leads to the front of the house-(front access). Living room offers a 40 in flat panel TV with satellite, fireplace, I-pod Sound-dock, and wireless Internet. The kitchen has been updated with a Wolf stove, stainless steel French doors fridge, and a beautiful black granite counter. The original wood kitchen cabinet were kept in order to maintain the rustic "Tahoe cabin" look that we love!
Also off the main floor are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed, a large window and a glass door that leads onto a private deck overlooking the forest. Bedroom 2 has a queen size bed, and 2 large windows. There is plenty of closet space in both bedrooms. Additional linens, towels and blankets are stored in these closets.
Mezzanine has a loft, one master bedroom and one bathroom. The loft has amazing lake views, 2 futons, a table and chairs. Master bedroom has queen size bed, twin size bed, a toddler bed, and a glass door that opens onto a private deck, which overlooks the forest.
Hot tub is located outside and is independently accessible from all 3 levels.
There are 2 doors to access the house: the front door that connects the front deck to the living room, and the side-door on the bottom floor.
The house is centrally located in Kings Beach with a 2 min drive to the lake and Safeway, 5 min drive to Northstar, 20 min drive to Squaw Valley, and 5 min drive to the casinos in Nevada.
No smoking in the property.
The property is in a residential area and may not be used for weddings, wedding receptions parties or other large group function.
Paola's place is warm and cozy, and the layout worked perfectly for my group. The kitchen is large and flows nicely with living areas. All rooms were comfortable and private. The hot tub was clean, private, and large enough for my group of 8. We all enjoyed it especially after a long skiing day.
The pictures don't do justice to Paola's home. I will definitively stay here again.
We had a relaxing weekend at Paola's Tahoe house. The location is fantastic for a summer rental. We were able to walk to the beach (about 1.75 miles away), it was quiet, and smelled divinely of pine trees. The great room accommodated our large group well. The house has also been well maintained in many ways: there aren't any broken appliances, the plumbing all works great, etc.
That said, this is an affordable rental and you get what you pay for. The beds are all older mattresses and not there for comfort. The sofas, in particular, could really use replacing (the springs seem to be broken, and therefore you fall into it), and the dining table is too small for the size of the house (and doesn't stay together as the center latch underneath is broken). The carpeting has seen better days, and much of the outside wooden stairs, both decks and their wrap-around benches are rotten.
Paola was great at communicating with me around booking and before arrival at the rental, but it seems that we had a miscommunication around the checkout time. The cleaning crew arrived not just before the time we'd agreed upon, but before the official checkout time written in the paperwork.
We were also unable to use the hot tub. When we pulled the cover off, we discovered that the water was very dirty and smelled weird/bad. That was disappointing.
Perfect house to rent with a group of friends! Convenient location to Kings Beach State Park (5 min drive), and we loved having a 24-hour Safeway so close by (also 5 min drive), but we still felt like we were in the wilderness. Perfect combo of nature and convenience! The house itself is in great condition and has an open kitchen/dining area/living room conducive to group hangout sessions. There are sun-filled decks surrounding the house and a hot tub is the cherry on top. Paola was also extremely responsive and friendly!
Paola's cabin is incredible! The photos do not do the cabin justice; the common area is spacious and light, there was lots of private space for multiple couples staying in the cabin, and the cabin was very clean. Our group spent multiple nights cooking dinner together and enjoying the cozy fire, and were able to take advantage of the large deck during the unusual sunny and warm days in January. The location was great, and there was ample parking. Paola was incredibly responsive to all inquiries, made sure we were well prepared with an itinerary ahead of time, and left us a wonderful welcome gift. We will definitely be returning!
Overall, our stay was good. The kitchen and living room were very comfortable and we enjoyed our time cooking and relaxing in front of the fireplace.
Hiking was available directly from the house, you can jog to Lake Tahoe and the grocery store is close.
We paid a very high price since we rented during peak season. The place could use the services of a handyman to fix small things/replace lightbulbs/etc which would give the place a more polished appearance. A more polished appearance is more in line with what we expected due to the amount we paid but all major items were in working order.
+ The kitchen is outstanding. Our group planned on cooking most of our meals and we were easily able to do this.
- The fourth bedroom was not usable in the winter. It was musty and cold. We had 8 people and 4 of us decided to share the loft instead of asking anyone to sleep there.
-Pulling in and out of the driveway was very difficult. We did not have any snow but it seems like it would be very tricky if there was a decent amount of accumulation.
We loved our time here. Very cozy environment, Safeway is so close and so is northstar. There's a Bluetooth iPhone speaker we really enjoyed as well, but to accommodate 10 people, it would've Ben nice to have a bit more plates/glasses/silverware. New fridge was nice too.

I've lived in North Beach since 2007, in San Francisco since 1991. I love the North beach neighborhood because of its cultural richness, the great weather, and exquisite food!
