We call our three bedroom house No Worries. The cabin is spacious, comfortable, beautifully maintained, in a unique location. The view is spectacular, one of the best on the mountain, worth getting up early for and from there the days just unfold.
The view from our cabin on Fontana Ridge is spectacular -- one of the best on the mountain. We look down on the Tuckasegee River and out to the Smoky Mountains. The roads are paved all the way up the mountain, which makes for easy access all year long. Our cabin is on five acres of forested land.
My family created a retreat for our family and friends, with comfort and family fun in mind. Multiple levels with extra use rooms allow us to spread out so we don't have that "on top of each other" feeling, yet the cabin is cozy and comfortable when everyone gathers together. All the bedrooms are furnished with real beds with deep mattresses and solid dressers and tables. The master bedroom is nestled under the peak of the A-frame on the top floor. Windows and doors open to the outside deck and the loft space next to the room, which, along with the ceiling fans, allows good circulation. The spacious room easily accommodates the king sized bed and furniture without feeling cramped. Step outside onto the private deck to watch the sunset or come in and read in the loft sitting area outside the bedroom. The sofa in the loft area pulls out into a bed for your extra guests.
The deck wraps around two sides of the main living area and that's where we spend most of our time in the summer. The covered space means you can enjoy the view even in the rain while the uncovered side opens to the sun and moon. We take most of our meals on the picnic table on the deck but there is a large dining table just inside the French doors. There are two bedrooms on this floor (one queen, one double bed), the bathroom, the great room, kitchen and dining area. In keeping with our goal of comfort, the plush seating in the great room includes four recliners. There is a flat screen tv with DiretTV and a wood burning fireplace. The floor plan is open, with a partial wall separating the kitchen from the rest of the space. The kitchen includes microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven in addition to a large stand up refrigerator/freezer and full stove.
We have designated the downstairs as the gaming rooms, providing a pool table, two tvs, a DVD player and many family games, from dice to cards to board games, These are stored in a cabinet in the large game room and are available to everyone, along with a handful of paperback books and DVDs. The room with the pool table and tv has two small cafe tables and we think of it as the grown-up game room. The kids' game room has a high, cafe style game table, a daybed, bean bag chair, tv and DVD player, and a giraffe. The giraffe is my brother's touch of whimsey and although we know it doesn't belong in the mountains, the kids like it.
This lower level also has a laundry room with a washer and dryer and a sink. There's a door to the parking area on this level.
Guests will have full access to the house except for one locked closet.
Interaction with Guests
This is our vacation home so we will not be around during your stay.
We are above the Tuckasegee River in Bryson City. Be warned -- people come here and never want to leave. There are many "transplants" in Bryson City, which has given the town a unique atmosphere. Traditional mountain life meets outdoors adventure. There is river rafting, tubing, kayaking. Zip lining, hiking, biking. Small town crafts, thrift stores, and fine arts. The Smoky Mountain railroad depot is downtown. Bryson City is the perfect home base for exploring Western North Carolina and Tennessee. Easy day trips include Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Cades Cove. The Smoky Mountain Nantahala Gorge hosted the 2013 World Championships of Connie Freestyle in September. Bryson is minutes from Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This part of North Carolina is famous for its scenic drives. And for those wanting a break from all the scenery and outdoor activity, Asheville is an hour away.
There's no public transportation. You will need a car but the roads are paved and we have a large, flat parking area next to the cabin so it is easy access.
Other Things to Note
We have DirectTV on two of the three tvs. The third has a DVD player. We are new at renting and hope your family builds many wonderful memories from your time at No Worries.
Unfortunately, we don't allow pets. Smoking should be done outside.
Very nice cabin. I love the authentic decor. The view is amazing and you can hear the rushing river from the balcony. Thanks.
Cyndi was a Great Host! Aptly named no worries, wonderful cabin, exceeded the kids expectations of seclusion and yet enough things to entertain them. The best view of the Tuckaseegee River, very convenient, close to Polar Express Depot, Cherokee Park Village, Cooper's Trout Farm, Nantahala RIver and Outdoor Center, and Great Smoky Mountain Road to Gatlinburg. We found Ingles and Walgreens at the foot of the mountain. We loved the woodburning fireplace where we made smores, porch that was strategically wrapped halfway around the house where we had quiet times on a swing, ate/ read at a picnic table or had our coffee and hot cocoa in the mornings or stargaze at night while listening to the relaxing sound of the river. We did not mind the ladybugs as our grandchildren even named them. We saw a deer walk up the driveway, large rabbits on the property but glad to say no snakes during our walks. There is a huge berm at the back of the house where the kids set up targets for their little bows and arrows, a lot of games and a pool table in the play room. We got a little challenged by the initial drive up and down the mountain but adapted to it quickly that my husband would volunteer to drive it for a garbage run or a daily trip to somewhere (we did not have 4WD). It was a perfect for a first winter vacation for this family of 6 adults and 2 small kids from Orlando. I would highly recommend this clean and beautiful cabin to anyone!
P.S. Thank you to Mr. Denney, property mgr for making sure that we had a pleasant stay as well.
Peaceful and quiet, wonderful view. We found hikes to do within a 20-minute drive of the cabin, but opted to spend more time at the house because it was such a relaxed setting.
The house is at a great location with a beautiful view overlooking the mountains. The board games and pool table were handy because it snowed and we got locked in. The house is very spacious too! Absolutely recommended for anyone visiting the Smokies/Bryson city.
The sunrise is breathtaking. We had a wonderful BBQ on the balcony with splendid views of the valley. My husband love the pocket billiards so much and spent all night down there. This is such a great cabin with great location on the mountain and everyone just love it, love it!
The home was beautiful, and the views were breathtaking! Very easy entry directions, and we had everything we needed to be comfortable. Very close to downtown. My mother and I had a wonderful weekend together. Thanks!! Karlie
I did not meet the host. The key was left in a lockbox with a local contact in case there were any problems. I had no problems with the home. It is in an awesome location with the views just as shown on the website. It seems like Cyndi thought of everything you would want to have in the home, complete kitchen, grill, outside seating on the huge deck, pool table, any game you can think of, comfortable furniture with lots of blankets, there is a fireplace (we did not use, we had perfect weather when there). Checking out also easy and we had complete privacy. Everything on the website is accurate.
I am originally from Florida and now live in a small town in Northern California, where I raised my two sons. Both boys are in college now so we don't get to travel together as much as we used to. Since we live across the country we realized we can open our cabin to other families, with the help of our friends on the mountain.
We enjoy hiking. snorkeling, scuba diving and exploring together, and travel as much as work and school and our budgets permit. Live music shows are a passion, as well. My kids and I are avid readers and leave a trail of paper back books everywhere we go.
