  • What a perfect place with a great host! When I arrived she gave me a tour of the place, and then asked what I wanted to do in Albuquerque. Instead of just a room to stay she turned the stay into a central point to explore from; with a table full of places, restaurants, sights, and things to do.
The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Amecus made muffins and veggie fritatas for breakfast, she's a great cook. And she let me help with feeding her animals each morning. If you've never experienced a farm setting you can get it in her back yard in the middle of the city! Each of them have little personalities that are funny as she interacts with them, you'll enjoy it.
Overall the host is very personable but respectful of your space, she'll engage you as much as you want to. You can tell she's got a very warm heart for people and animals, and a tremendous energy about her. The overall experience was excellent, and anyone that stays there will agree when they leave her home.

  • Breakfast was the highlight of our stay with Amecus! The rest of the stay was comfortable and pleasant. Amecus has many good recommendations for restaurants and activities.

    April 2014
  • Comfortable, quiet room to get some shut eye after a very long drive and wait for check-in. Breakfast was good, as was feeding the animals. Learned a lot about raising goats/chickens/rabbits.

    March 2014
  • I spent two weeks here and everything was wonderful. Amecus is very friendly and makes sure you have everything you need.

    March 2014
  • Very soft bed, nice private bathroom. Animals outside, very nice, especially the guinea pig. Also there is an IF spa.

    February 2014
  • This was a great place to stay on my overnight in ABQ. Amecus was very accommodating. It was cool to feed the chx, goats, rabbits and other critters in the morning before I left. I would stay here again.

  • I had a lovely stay and met interesting people. Amecus was a fabulous host and I think the description was a good indicator of what to expect.
I have lived in Albuquerque and visited by staying at hotels before, but the found this place to bring me closer to the heartbeat of this interesting city.
I also love animals and was fascinated with the extended and varied animal family who live in the yard. Fresh eggs and homemade muffins, organic milk and half and half are also not commodities you would get at a hotel. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The mini-spa aspect was also fun!

    January 2014
  • My friend and I stayed with Amecus overnight mainly because we were really intrigued by the goats, chickens, and bunnies. We were not disappointed, even got to feed them. We had our own very convenient half bath and full one outside our door. The homemade, vegan/gluten free banana nut muffins were delicious and just what we needed for our early morning hot air balloon ride. Amecus has tons of knowledge and brochures on what's the happenings around town and is absolutely willing to help. Her place is also super accessible to pretty much anything you need…of course we did have a vehicle. If you're easy going, you 'll dig this place. I did!

    January 2014
  • Make sure you look at the pictures because this place is extremely colorful!! (in which I have no problem with) Amecus was an excellent host as she had brochures of local activities and gave us a full tour of the place. I'd stay here again, but would recommend bringing an extra heater. She has one in this room, but the main heater is in the hall. (It doesn't reach the room with the door closed) Great place for a great price!

    December 2013
  • We had a very nice time at Amecus's home. We found the massage machines fun to play with and relaxing. It was unique and pleasant.

About
Seven years ago, I nearly died, 9 times. I lived (obviously I am not speaking through the grave), not everyone did. For someone who catches a mere cold only once every 8 years, the 2 year recovery to do basic things like drive a car, plan a meal or sleep, was world shattering. Besides losing my spectacular health, I lost my career and harmed or maimed important relationships, some irreparably. Previous to the experience, I held no debt. After paying medical bills (the largest bills I have ever experienced) I decided, to buy a house for the same amount I spent on the bills and create a healing place so I can rebuild resilient health. I spent a year with the initial remodel of the house but it is an ongoing endeavor. Initially I rented rooms to graduate students and it shows. Lots of reading nooks and desks. I started with airbnb in June 2013 and it has been a great success. I would like to offer the opportunity to stay at my home to people interested. I intend to eventually be a therapeutic foster parent for teens. When this works out, the house will no longer be available. I set up a : ) BOOK ( (website hidden) ) page called Albuquerque Micro-Farm, where you see more pictures, and experience the labyrinth, and small videos of the animals. I am a TEDhead, Life-hacker, U.S. Soldier, Vegetarian, Researcher, Artist, Permaculture Enthusiast, Psychology/Social Work Student. I believe in and constantly strive for resilient health. I've can't resist a dance flash mob :) A 'Foodie', yes I take pictures of food, often. FAVS: Movie: The Wizard of Oz/currently, The Wolverine; Book: The Velveteen Rabbit, and whatever Malcolm Gladwell recently wrote; Music: Lead Me On (Amy Grant), club remixes of pop songs, Super Mashups; Food: Pizza; Destination: My Hammock (w' book); Show: currently, The Fosters, generally The Colbert Report. I have many life mottos: If it doesn't move you, whats the point. No matter how trustworthy he seams, never give your gun to a monkey. You can never trust quotes on the internet- Abraham Lincoln. If life gives you Melons, you may be dyslexic. At the end of the day, the issue is always, the person in the mirror. What doesn't kill you...Will really F*** you up! Never Drink and Derive. If you think you can, or if you think you can't, you are correct; Choose wisely. Should I go this way or that way? Well it depends on where you want to end up.
