Interaction with Guests
We do not interact much other than by phone or email as we do not live on the Island at this time. The property managers live close by, so if you have questions or concerns, they are available and local.
It is a quiet residential neighborhood and the house is at the end of a cul de sac. It is a quick walk to the ocean, one mile from a shopping center and four miles from downtown Kona.
There is a shuttle/trolly service that picks up just a couple blocks from the house and goes downtown as well as to many shopping attractions. Otherwise, you will want a rental car to explore the island.
Other Things to Note
The house will go on the market early January. We expect a 30-45 day escrow, and will do our best to block dates between guests to allow potential buyers to see the space.
In rare instances, we may ask you to be ever so gracious as to allow a serious buyer to see inside the downstairs; with your permission of course, and at least 24 hour notice.

Lovely clean and relaxing place. Nice outdoor seating area. The bed was very comfortable and kept the windows open for fresh air and could hear the surf in the background. Very thoughtful hosts providing us with some welcome Kona coffee and nuts and other snacks. I would stay again. The place is close to beaches but a few miles from shops so I would recommend having a car or scooter to get around. Thank you.
It's a beautiful house, everything you'll need to enjoy your stay in Kona. The only bad part was that we couldnt extend our stay, that's how much we loved it! it was already reserved by another guest.
Maraya and Stephanie were very responsive and helpful. We loved the macadamia nuts and pineapple that were left as a gift.
We stayed here for honeymoon anf we would stay here again if we could (the house is being sold), stay here if you can before its delisted!
Lovely place, very relaxing and convenient. Great outdoor seating areas. Indoor was nice decor and modern and comfortable. Kept the windows open for fresh air and could hear the surf in the background. Very thoughtful hosts providing us with some welcome Kona coffee and nuts as well use of their beach chairs, boogie board and ice chest. It was a very nice family stay, thank you!

Couldn't ask for a better host. This was our first trip to Kona (my first trip altogether to the islands). Maraya and her husband Michael provided clean, well-supplied accommodations in a perfect location. But more importantly, they helped us find special sites, provided gear to enjoy the shore and sea, and gave us perspective on the Big Island and Hawaiian culture. They were there when we needed them and unobtrusive when we didn't. Excellent.
We had a great stay with Maraya and Michael. The were terrific hosts giving us good ideas for activities and dining. The apartment, the bottom floor of their home, was very well appointed with full kitchen and great space to relax in. It was very quiet and being just a couple of short blocks from the ocean, we could hear the waves crashing when the surf was up. The location was ideal, a short drive or slightly longer walk from the prime snorkel beach (Kahalu'u) and close to the town of Kailua-Kona. I would very much recommend this place to others who are planning on staying on the Kona side of the Big Island. Mahalo Maraya and Michael!
Maraya grew up in Oregon and after finishining her Masters at Yale University in Nursing, she met her Husband Michael on the Big Island of Hawaii. Michael grew up in Massachusetts and finished his Masters in Physical Therapy in Connecticut as well.
They are both active individuals (Michael finished the World Championship Ironman) and have a deep love for the land and sea of Hawaii. They look forward to sharing their love for this island as well as the fruits of their labor in creating an abundant organic garden here on their property.
They are parents to their lovely son Kaimana, two years old, and daughter Tovah, eight months old..
This is the perfect rental for you if you are looking for a quiet neighborhood with a fully furnished one bedroom guest house.
You will be pleased with the access to some of the best beaches on island as well as the tropical landscaping and beautiful sound of the waves at night.
Come find joy in this home if you appreciate walking to the beach.
