Are you looking for a breathtakingly beautiful place to relax in a hammock while listening to doves coo and watch hummingbirds drink nectar with a mountain backdrop? This is the place! With 7 acres to explore, we found ourselves in natural pools as waterfalls cascaded from 25-foot cliffs, hiking up the river, and wandering woods trails with Griff the dog. The food was amazing - pancakes with homemade fruit preserves, freshly squeezed orange juice, cinnamon rolls - all top-notch and freshly made with lots of love.
We don't see this as a place to stay while you're in the area, but more as a destination for relaxing, hiking, and enjoying the country life only available in Puerto Rico! We must warn you that this property is well off the beaten path and (website hidden)Maps will NOT be of any help. The road leading up the mountain is narrow and winding, and none of the turns are marked with signs, so you have to use landmarks for navigation. If they offer to meet you in town, take the deal! We tried to go it alone and ended up having to backtrack and wait for assistance at a previously agreed-upon mile-marker.
Ann provides information on local attractions, but between the treacherous roads and the incredible views, we didn't see any reason to leave the property. We visited the aquaponics full of little tilapia, fed our banana peels to the goats, watched as the chickens foraged for bugs, and unsuccessfully attempted to befriend the parrots.
Alan is a talented craftsman, baker, cook, kombucha brewer and more. We did a lot of cooking in the newly-finished kitchen attached to our room which was gorgeous and had great views from all angles. He even made the stools in there - a true artist.
It was a pleasure getting to know the whole family as brief as our visit was, and we would love to come back and share that little slice of paradise again! Thanks for such an amazing stay.

The roads to our home are typical of Puerto Rican neighborhoods, some areas are narrow and you will look for a wide place and wait for on coming traffic they will do the same for you, people using these roads are courteous and accommodating after the 1st trip here it's easier to navigate. We have added pictures to the directions map we send to booking clients to recognize land marks, they don't use addresses here or street signs which adds to the confusion for a 1st visit. We continually try to make the experience as uncomplicated as possible. It is only about a 12 minute trip to the town of Sabana Grande where there are grocery stores gas restaurants roadside fruit stands and food stands. Though it seems remote with the peaceful setting it really is not that far. A great place to see places like San German which has one of the oldest churches in western hemisphere. La parguera and Guanica all within a 1/2 hour drive. Also great to unwind and go nowhere. But take us up on the offer to meet in town if you wish, we don't mind. Jon and Marisa were great guests and love nature and natural living as we do, enjoyed getting to know them hope to see our new friends again.
If you are visiting Puerto Rico, this is the ideal place to experience a vacation within a vacation! If you live on Puerto Rico looking for a place to unwind and enjoy the serenity to get away from the daily city routine - you will find it here! If you are newlyweds looking for a private getaway to be alone - this is the place!
The accommodations are private, but at the same time the hosts are exceptionally social if that is what you are after (we took advantage of the optional dinner offering with the family each night). The listing has recently added a complete private kitchen and lanai breakfast nook (we were the second guests to have access to the addition). The hosts are receptive to any reasonable request and we were greeted with a welcome freshly picked fruit basket and fresh squeezed juice upon arrival.
The rooms are well kept and ample for a family (with kids) (2 double beds in the room). The room has no air-conditioning, but since we were in the mountains the days and nights were cool. Swimming in natural spring fed pools and nature hiking was available right on the property and the lanai offers a great panorama while just enjoying a leisurely lunch.
The Caribbean is about a 30 minute drive away and the Rain Forest is just over the hill. So, this property seems well situated for not only the activities of visitors (like my wife and I) to the island, but the rarity of a place to just chill out a bit for residents of Puerto Rico.
For us, this property was the perfect accompaniment and break to a two week vacation. Highly recommended! We loved the stay, and would stay again.
