About this listing
Located just across the street from the gigantic Moscow-style Crown Plaza Hotel, this spacious apartment is perfect for 1 or 2 couples who want to spend an amazing vacation in Prague. The flat is situated in the residential quarter of Bubenec: surrounded by parks and local Czech shops, but just a short metro ride to the bustling center. There is one master bedroom with a King-sized bed and a master bathroom and a living room space with a King-sized fold out sofa-bed (that is very comfortable!). The flat can comfortably sleep 4.
The apartment comes with a master bathroom (2 sinks, tub with shower, washing machine, toilet) which is accessible from the master bedroom and a guest bathroom (large shower, sink, toilet). Both bathrooms are fully stocked with fluffy towels and plenty of space to spread out comfortably.
The large kitchen can easily accommodate up to 6 "chefs" (chef hats and jackets not included :) ) with tons of counter space for chopping, washing, drying and hanging out drinking wonderful Czech beer (also not included :( ). The kitchen has everything you might need to cook, bake, mix, microwave and keep cool. There are dishes and glassware for 8 people.
The flat is newly renovated, but we kept enough of the communist-era furniture to give the essence of Prague's past, all stunning pieces in sturdy dark wood. Wifi is included in the price of the flat as is the large-screen TV. If you're coming with kids, we can provide a travel crib, highchair and other necessities.
We are minutes away from the huge Stromovka park with tons of outdoor activities, playgrounds and restaurants. There are bike paths, rollerblading, places to run and relax. For kids there are several playgrounds within a 5 minute walk. On Saturdays there is a farmer's market at the quarter's central square with tons of fresh vegetables, traditional Czech sweets, and fresh baked bread!
There are several great restaurants in the immediate area including take-out pizza, indian food as well as some great Czech restaurants. The quarter's central street is just minutes away with the quaint and local feeling of a small town without the bustling tourist activity of Prague's Center. But if you want to go shopping in the center, it's just a short metro ride away! There are some wonderful grocery stores and a couple of big supermarkets in the immediate vicinity. There are two gyms across the street with a full compliment of machines.
Right in front of the building are both bus and tram stops which will go to Metro A station, Dejvicka (1 stop by bus, 2 by tram). The Metro A line takes you right into the heart of Prague. We are about a 30 minute bus ride (20 minutes by taxi) from the airport.
We live in the building (one floor away) and are happy to help get you settled with recommendations of where to go and what to do. We're also on hand in case something breaks or goes wrong or if you need some help with translations. We really love our part of town. It's a great place to live and a fantastic place to visit. We hope you'll find it a perfect place to recharge your batteries from long days of walking around beautiful Prague!
You are able to use almost everything in the flat including the full use of the kitchen and all it's appliances. There is a washing machine (with built in dryer, but it's better to dry out on the clothes lines on the balcony if it's sunny :) ), two showers, a tub, vacuum cleaner, wifi.
Interaction with Guests
I have a flat in the same building, so I am available and present if you want recommendations on what to do or if you have a question or a problem. That said, I'm more than happy to let you explore the flat and the city on your own if that's your preference. I can also do some light concierge service: if you tell me you want to go to a concert or the ballet or if you'd like to book an excursion, I'm more than happy to arrange it for you!
Bubenec is a residential neighborhood surrounded by parks, shops and restaurants. It is conveniently located just a short metro ride away from the city center, but far enough to not feel like you can't chill out.
The flat is 1 bus stop or 2 tram stops away from the main metro line. Getting into the center of town is a snap!
If you're coming by car, there is plenty of free street parking to be found (the neighborhood is safe, so you can feel comfortable leaving your car parked on the street).
Our metro stop, Dejvicka, is just 2 stops from the main Airport bus, 119. So getting to our place from the airport is a snap! Or you can take a taxi for about 450 Kc ($25).
Our flat is non-smoking, but there is a balcony for people who need to smoke. We also don't allow pets, sorry :(
About the Host, Brian
I moved to Prague in 2002 from California to pursue acting. It's worked out pretty well (if you want to see what I've done, check out imdb...) and now I'm living here with my wife and 2 kids. My parents bought a flat in our building so that they could visit the kids, but when they aren't in town, we thought we could share their space with others who wanted to visit this beautiful city! I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I have (though you don't have to move here :))
