About this listing
My home is a little paradise, an oasis of calm. It is peaceful with the sounds of birds, sheep or cows nearby and views of orchards and fields. We offer a very comfortable double bed in spacious bedroom with own bathroom in peaceful surroundings. It is a straightforward b&b. That is - a bed to sleep in and a light breakfast to be eaten somewhere in the usual breakfast hours, simple cooking facilities.
A naturally restful place. The porch is the dining room and a sitting room. Enjoy watching the wildlife in the garden. I work from home, keep to myself at this time which is all morning and won't be available unless there's an emergency. There's an eclectic range of books to read, maps of local walks and things to do. There are a couple of bikes available.
Your own spacious bedroom with seating area, desk & chair and bathroom are up stairs. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The kitchen for your breakfast preparation, space in the fridge for some provisions and the dining area in the porch where there is also a couch. The back garden with chairs. Eat al fresco when weather permits.
Interaction with guests
I work from home and am available especially to welcome you, show you around and so on and for any information you need in particular, I keep my mornings to work. There will be a selection of information available for you in your room.
We are right opposite the Nature Reserve. It is spectacular to see and hear the geese and cormorant flying overhead and return to the lake. Incredibly peaceful, just the church bells at a sensible distance. A walk of 10 minutes will get you to either of the wonderful local pubs which serve great food and drink. Hampton Court is a must, and the local vineyard restaurant.
Parking can be on the road outside the house or just at the entrance to the nature reserve immediately across from us. Buses from Hereford bring you to Queens Wood bus stop where I can collect you by arrangement. Bikes available. Buses go from Bodenham to Leominster and to Hereford regularly.
Other things to note
There is a wrought iron spiral staircase to your accommodation - easier to use than stairs so my mother, aged 90, informs me - It is usually a very quiet place to stay but occasionally the farmer on nearby land, orchard men or woodman may use machinery. It's rare.
No smoking inside thank you. If you have a small very well behaved pet [re the stairs] which won't traumatise my 19 year old cat then please talk to me about it prior to confirming a booking.
I am a writer and work from home. I have lived and worked in many parts of the world [land and sea]. A voracious reader and radio listener. I believe in healthy living enjoy good food and good wine, walk regularly. It's so beautiful. I love my paradise of a home, the peace and surroundings.
