About This Listing
A charming and tasteful Duplex, combining traditional architecture with modern style, in a beautiful private and safe residence located on the outskirts of the Medina (old town) of Marrakech and close to the main attractions of the city.
The duplex is following the architectural style of a typical "riad" with a main central courtyard, a moroccan lounge and 3 bedrooms on the mezzanine.
It has also a fully equipped kitchen, 2 toilets, 1 bathroom and a large terrace (with pergola and sunbeds) offering a beautiful view of the Medina and the Atlas mountains.
The residence is secured by staff 24h. It has gardens, 3 swimming pools including one for children and several grocery stores, snack bar, pharmacy, travel agency, ...
Local taxis are present on the place and Marrakech bus station is 5 minutes drive from the residence.
Transport from/to the airport of the customers can be organised on request.

* Nice, quiet location, not touristy
* Terrace was great
* Lots of room for us, seems like good value overall
* The swimming pool was closed, apparently this only opens in April
* Very cold at night (February)
* No internet
* Lingering smell of cigarettes
Overall, we had a really good time, though.
It's a gated complex, just outside the ramparts, with lots of Morrocan families living there, as well as a few tourists.
You can get internet
You can get internet at a (nice and quiet) cafe within the complex, and as it turned out having no internet was not a problem for us (but nevertheless it shouldn't be advertised as having internet).
It's possible to walk to djamaa el fna square, not too far, but pretty stressful as there is a lot of traffic going through the little winding streets.
Luckily it's pretty cheap by taxi from here, though, and pretty easy to get a taxi if you walk out to the Route des Ramparts main road nearby. If you get a small taxi (max 3 people) and insist on the counter, it costs under 20 dirham. For more than 3 people you have to take the larger taxi which costs 50 dirhams. (So, if you want to be clever just take two small taxis!)
We found that taxis back from djamaa el fna square didn't want to use the counter, because they would need to return empty, and so we needed to negotiate a slightly higher price in advance.
Not so convenient for eating out, as we basically found ourselves taking taxis out all the time to eat (since the food is so good here). A place right in the centre would be easier for this, but a lot more chaotic I think.
Don't much to be provided in the way of 'essentials', but that's probably just the way it is in Morroco.
(In other places we went by airbnb it was great not to need to buy things like washing up liquid, dishwasher powder, etc. and if we do buy any just leave for the next people, but in Morroco I think that anything left behind will just get taken.)
Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay in Morroco!
The place was as advertised, wonderful place and great location. The only drawbacks that we had a blocked sink and the house keeper couldn't clear it and not enough heaters ( only one and two air conditioners ). Definitely will recommend in summer.
We spent a week in this lovely apartment and really enjoyed it. Although within walking distance from the Medina and central parts of the city, the area is quiet and very well suited for families with its green areas, pools and small snack bars. The apartment is spacious and well equipped and the cozy terrace really adds the little extra!
Jeff was easy to communicate with and his housekeeper showed us around and gave assistance with all practical issues. Great stay!
Highly recommended. We had an excellent stay at this place. The host did everything we asked of him. The place is in a complex of 100/200 odd buildings with secruity guards at the entrance. A safe and worry free environment with a nice mix of locals and some tourists. All in all could not ask for better at this price.
