One important aspect that makes this casita more unique is it gives you a blend of both Centro and a more spacious, tranquil environment. You can easily get to Centro but return to a peaceful home with gardens, hummingbirds and amazing views. In addition, I LOVE San Miguel which was voted #1 Tourist Destination in the World by Conde Nast https://www.airbnb.com/manage-listing/1140160/guidebook and I want you to enjoy San Miguel too. I provide information on tours with locals that I personally know (eg horseback and ATV riding, rock climbing, day tours to Guanajuato etc). When I am going kayaking, to the hot springs, the mercado or a Mexican fiesta I will invite you to join me and/or provide transportation. You will have the opportunity to explore on your own but see more of San Miguel via the eyes of someone who lives here.
Guests will have access to Casita Danielita via a private entrance through a beautiful garden. The second floor casita and terraza has outside dining for six guests and there is a third floor terraza with outdoor kitchen & bar and sofa for reading & siestas. Wireless internet available throughout.
Interaction with Guests
I am onsite in the casa on the first floor. Thus, I can be more readily available to assist you. At the same time I respect guests' privacy.
Safe street with a blend of lovely Mexican and ex-pat neighbors who look out for each other. This colonia was started as an artist community and some of the neighbours have taken on different projects for example, building a playground for the children. You can walk on the country road to Centro and see children riding horses bareback and then 10 min later be on the bustling streets of San Miguel.
Bus runs every 10 minutes for $5 pesos from end of the cobblestone street directly to Luciernga Mall (Soriana supermarket, Office Depot, etc), Mega (supermarket), Tiangus Tuesday market and hospitals, etc. The same bus can drop you off where it is then approx 15 - 20 min level walk to the main jardin (garden) in Centro. If you prefer to not take the bus and walk from your casita there is a country dirt road to Centro approx 25 -30 min walk or one can take a more leisurely walk to Centro through the hills behind your casita to Charco Botanical Gardens and down through a quaint neighbourhood to Centro. Lots of options and scenery. Taxis are available 24/7 if you prefer to walk (or bus) one way and cab home. Cabs cost approx $40-60 pesos ($3.50 - 5.00 USD). In addition, I check in with guests and will drive them or drop them off near their destination and we can arrange joint trips to the mercado, supermarket etc
Other Things to Note
This is Mexico and there are more parades and cultural fiestas (versus "beach parties") than in many other areas on the coast. Thus, there are fireworks going off at times in the early morning to celebrate a family members' birthday or anniversary, music, and also roosters crowing, dogs barking etc. If you are a light sleeper please, keep this in mind although you will encounter this no matter where you stay in San Miguel. The casita, in general, is much more quiet than closer to Centro but it is important that guests know and appreciate this is Mexico. TEN Reasons People Like San Miguel de Allende (URL HIDDEN)
No smoking inside casita. No disorderly conduct including excessive drinking, illegal drugs or loud noise after 12 midnight. I want to be respectful of my neighbours. No pets. No overnight extra guests not previously mentioned on contract.
Hola! I am Canadian but lived in Seattle, WA for many years and now reside in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Previously worked at the Univ of Washington Harborview Medical Center as a nurse practitioner. I bought a casa in San Miguel in March 2009 and l completed the casita, third floor terraza and garden in late 2012. I love to be active in terms of hiking, kayaking and swimming. I am open and artistic as evidenced when you meet me or walk in my front door. Travel and photography are two of my greatest passions. I love to share San Miguel with my guests.
