A new 2-bedroom home with loft and open floor plan overlooks the Medicine Creek valley and Medicine Creek Pheasant Ranch. Located high on a hill 1.5 miles east of Vivian, SD, beautiful sunrises and sunsets await. Outdoor hot tub installed October 2016, with great views of the surrounding hills, and valley below. Easy access from I-90 & Highway 248 (old US 16).

The space
"Frenchy's Place" is a fully furnished house with a fully equipped kitchen. For 2017, Frenchy's Place is offered as a single unit, which includes two bedrooms, plus a loft with two full-size beds and a twin bed. The master bedroom suite has one queen bed and one twin bed, and its own bathroom, and bedroom 2 has one queen bed connected to the main bathroom. The loft has 2 double beds, and in a separate "attic" room has a single bed. Occupants of the loft would typically use the main bathroom. The master bedroom has its own exit, and each bedroom has securely locking doors. A large hot tub was installed on a cement slab off the northeast corner of the house Fall 2016. This hot tub has a great view of the surrounding countryside, and, with no light pollution in this rural setting, a sky full of stars at night.

Guest access
Frenchy's Place is located on open farm/ranch land in central South Dakota. Guests have access to the entire house, plus the farm/pasture land surrounding the house. We provide internet access, and the wifi username is automatic (there will be only one in this rural setting) and no password is required. This information is posted on the refrigerator.

Other things to note
If the roads are muddy, please stay on the pathway with rocks - and avoid driving on the gravel circular driveway. We own about 3,000 acres of ground around the house, so you can explore the area if you'd like (avoid driving through fields with crops, or in pastures if muddy).

Location

Vivian, South Dakota, United States

We are located "in the country" about 1.5 miles east of Vivian on a hill surrounded by prairie grass, planted fields (to support the pheasant hunting operation), and a shelter belt made up mostly of western cedar and Russian olive trees. During the summer, a small restaurant in Vivian, the Bearcat Den, typically serves lunch and dinner until about 8 in the evening. Call us ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) and we can confirm times.

Managed by brothers Mike and Brad Authier, who grew up on the farm/ranch where the house is located. Since the mid 1980s, Mike has grown the pheasant hunting business into a world-class operation. Brad, a geological engineer out of the SD School of Mines, has always had a keen interest in the farm/ranch while raising a family in Alaska. The house views the fields and pastures that these brothers, and their Dad, and their Grand Dad worked. The rolling hills and mostly treeless plains, except along the creek, typify the landscape in this part of the high plains of the US.

During your stay
We service the Medicine Creek B&B from our family farm located one mile away, which is the Medicine Creek Pheasant Ranch. Alicia Authier will be your host. We can typically meet guests at night (or provide a code for accessing the house if quite late). The kitchen will be well stocked with food and drinks suited for breakfast: coffee, creamer, milk, juices, oatmeal, cereals, fruit, eggs, bacon, pancake mix, etc. Guests can count on availability of fresh food and drink for breakfast, and depending on Alicia's schedule, she may come to the house at a pre-determined time to prepare breakfast for the guests staying there. Tap water is from the Lyman-Jones rural water system (treated surface water from the Oahe Dam near Pierre), so we provide quality drinking water.
