Our host Jenny made us very welcome. Transported us to the apt. and introduced us to several people staying there. Also bought us water and rolls which was much appreciated as we arrived late in the evening
The apt was great, and in a good location. A panaderia was nearby and a wonderful mercado with fruits and vegetables was several blocks away
Taxis passed by the apt complex frequently.
We stayed for a month and will recommend Jenny to our friends when they travel to Cuenca Ecuador
Our host picked us up at the airport when we arrived. That was very helpful. It was late when we came in so she bought us some bread and coffee, and even a roll of toilet paper!
The neighborhood was easy access to everything, and all you had to do was step out the door to catch a taxi or bus.
The neighbors in the building made our stay the best. Everyone was so friendly and caring. If it hadn't been for them we might not have enjoyed it as much.
The pictures shown are not the same apartment we were given. It was a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, but all we had were 2 towels and only a few plates and coffee cups. Thankfully our host bought us a roll of toilet paper the night we arrived, because there wasn't even that in the apartment!
The kitchen was furnished with coffee pot, microwave, fridge, and stove, but there was only 1 pot and 1 pan. No dish towels, hot pads, no bath mat or wash cloths. If you are only looking for a place to stay for a short visit and have no plans to cook other than a quick breakfast, or light lunch, then this place is just right. If you like to cook and plan to make meals there, then you might have to get creative...
There is a nice washer and dryer in the apartment and they worked well.
I was met at the airport by Jenny and her husband Juan, and taken to the apartment. As it was late in the evening, we went across the road to get some basic supplies. Juan and Jenny were both wonderful, welcoming and very friendly. The neighborhood is excellent, very close to the large outdoor market, and the bus runs right by the house. The neighbours are all very friendly and I have made some good friends here. The apartment was perfect for me, just the right size. I have enjoyed my stay here so much I have extended it and plan on staying permanently. This building is just right for someone that wants to combine the comforts of home with the feel of the local area. Everything is nearby and getting to El Centro, or any other place in the city is a breeze. I have recommended this place to many of my friends, and look forward to seeing them when they arrive!
My wife and I are a Canadian couple in our early sixties travelling throughout Peru and Ecuador by car. Our four nights in Cuenca were delightful, particularly because we had the good fortune to stay at Gabriela’s apartment. Gabriela is a gem. She provided secure parking for our car and took time from her busy schedule to orient us to the neighbourhood and Cuenca. Moreover, she was continually attentive to our needs, making sure that we were comfortable. The location of her apartment was ideal for us. It is only three blocks from a huge public market, and on the Wednesday that we attended, it was one of the biggest we’ve seen in South America. Also, in the other direction, it’s a 20 minute walk to a well-stocked “SuperMaxi” grocery store. The historical centre is a 40 minute walk, a 25 centavo/20 minute bus ride, or a $2.50 taxi ride away. The apartment had one bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen, plenty of hot water and a fast internet connection. Having stayed in the historical centre two months prior, we preferred the location of Gabriela’s apartment, and if we return to Cuenca, we will definitely give Gabriela a call. Thank you for everything, Gabby!
The apartment does indeed have beautiful views of the city of Cuenca. This is due in part to the unit I stayed in being on the fourth floor. There are also units on the third floor. There is no elevator. Gabriela is a warm and helpful host. The area of town where it is located is a good slice of true Ecuadorian life, being outside of the central historic district, which can be reached by a bus that stops just a few steps down the street. The fare is 25 cents and takes about 15 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis are plentiful and quite reasonable that will take you anywhere you need to go in the city. There is also a shopping district that offers just about anything you would need within about a 15 minute walk. All in all, it is a clean, comfortable apartment and quite a good value.
Gabriela and her family were extremely helpful and attentive to our needs. She and her husband were nice enough to pick us up at the airport and let us move to a larger apartment. The location was perfect for us, close to everything, easy access to buses and taxis. The apartments are nicely appointed and clean. The property is also clean and well kept.
Wow! Airbnb is the best and Gabriella was wonderful. This is our second time using airbnb and we are very pleased. Our host, Gabriella is the most helpful and she go above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. Her rates are the most economical and yet her place was one of the best. First, the communication was excellent. She replied to any questions we have in a timely manner. She gave us information on transportation and was willing to help us with any concerns we have. We flew to Guayaquil and ride a van/ shuttle (buseta) to Cuenca. Her brother, Juan, picked us up from the shuttle depot and took us to the apartment. The apartment has everything we need, everything. It was clean, nicely decorated and had a nice lighting. It also featured an almost wrap-around balcony with 360 degrees view of the breathtaking mountains. We have the most beautiful picture of the mountain right from our living room. The apartment also has the washer and dryer, which was a big deal for us. The location was excellent. It is within walking distance to the open market, Feria Libre, which sells everything you need. Right across the market is an indoor supermarket that also sells lots of things. Bakery, Internet, beauty shop are all walking distance. If you need a ride, taxis are plenty right outside the apartment. Downtown Cuenca and all the historic churches and museums are only $2.50 taxi ride away or you can even walk along the river if you prefer. We stayed 2 weeks at Gabriella's apartment and she even made arrangement for our ride back to the shuttle depot. Overall, our stay in Gabriella's apartment made our first visit in Cuenca a pleasurable and memorable one. We can't wait to visit Cuenca. We are looking forward to stay here again.

We are a mom and daughter team originally from Cuenca - Ecuador. We work together to make sure our guests feel at home in any of our properties and in the city.
My husband Juan and I have been married for 32 years and have 3 daughters and 1 son along with 2 beautiful grand kids. Our kids/grand kids are spread around the world with two kids in Spain and two in the U.S.
Juan and I caught the travel bug a few years ago and now that all the kids are gone we try to get away every change we get!
I enjoy meeting people and showing them a bit of our city and culture. My kids tell me I can talk to anyone and they would be right! :-)
I'm married to Juan Antonio and we have a very active 2-year old boy that keeps us on my toes. My husband and I are currently getting our masters degrees (the second one for me! I already completed one in Psychology) in Spain.
