Traditional wooden chalet (converted 'mazot') set back from main road in Les Contamines-Montjoie. The chalet (& adjoining annex) is well equipped & has a bright main room with vaulted ceiling, sunny terrace & views of Dome de Miages & Mont Joly. The well insulated chalet is c10 mins walk from the village centre, has a ski-bus stop 50m from the front door & is c 2km from the ski lifts & nature park with both summer & winter activities.

The space
The chalet is our holiday home where we spend several months every year with family and friends. It is not a commercial property. We ask you read the details carefully and do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions. If you choose to stay in our chalet, we want you to love it and Les Contamines as much as we do.
When we are not in Les Contamines, our neighbours take care of the chalet for us and I am available remotely to help ensure you have a wonderful holiday.
We listen carefully to your feedback and are constantly making small improvements. In 2025 we have repainted the chalet interior and added new terrace furniture.
The chalet has amazing views on all sides (Fiz, Mont Joly and Dome de Miage) and is an easy walk to the village, either on the main road or down the path along the stream (the Bon Nant). However, it is next to the main road, and whilst well insulated inside, some guests do complain about the proximity to the main road.
In addition to the main chalet which can sleep up to 6 guests, there is also a simple small annex next door (separate entrance & sleeps 4 guests) which may also be available to rent if you need more space. It might also be occupied during your stay.
The layout of the chalet is quite quirky - total floor space is around 70m2. It has an open living space with kitchen, dining space and lounge/TV space. One double bedroom, the twin room & bathroom (small bath with shower attachment and washbasin) are downstairs, and one double bedroom with integrated shower unit and washbasin is upstairs next to the living space and separate WC.
You will receive a key for the garage in which you can store your equipment for example skis, bikes etc. At the back of the garage is a laundry room which you are welcome to use but please use your own detergent and leave clean and tidy. We leave basic provisions but ask that guests replace anything that they use up. In the garage there is a charcoal BBQ and additional garden furniture which you are welcome to use but please return to the garage at the end of your stay.
Please do not use our personal items (skis, boots, bikes) stored in the garage.
We provide bed linen and bath towels (not suitable for use outside the chalet so please bring your own swimming towels). We can give you a discount if you bring your own linen and towels as the laundry costs are very high.
We ask that you look after our chalet during your stay and contact us if anything is broken or not working as you expect.

Guest access
The access to the property is from the main road with the main door into the chalet being from the rear terrace. The terrace adjoins the terrace for the next door apartment. The parking at the front (suitable for 2-3 cars) may need to be shared with the next door apartment if occupied during your stay.
The driveway and parking are next to the main road which can be noisy during busy periods so take care if you are reversing out onto the main road. However the 'front door' and terrace are at the back of the chalet. Our garden is quite small but the gardens at the back of our chalet and the front of our neighbour are open with no fences and our neighbour is happy to have children playing and building snowmen in his garden!
Other things to note
We will leave a selection of books, games and DVDs for you to use during your stay, but please leave them when you depart. We ask that you leave the Chalet tidy at the end of your stay.
Despite its proximity to the main road, the chalet is well insulated with little noise pollution. Please note that the chalet & terrace is overlooked at the rear by a chalet - however this does not block the views of the Dome de Miage (from the back) or the Mont Joly (from the front), or down across the valley to the Fiz.

Hi! My name is Helen and I love traveling - a passion which I share with my husband and now our 3 children. We especially love the mountains both in summer and winter. Coming to the mountains gives us precious time with our children (now aged 13-18) away from our normally hectic lives. Neil (my husband) and I are originally from the UK but have lived for most of our lives in different countries. We speak English, French and German and smatterings of Luxembourgish and Spanish. We hope very much that you love staying in our chalet and Les Contamines as much as we do.
