Dear Airbnb, The house itself serves its purpose for a big group. It is cozy, with a big living room and a couple of big bedrooms. The kitchen is a really nice communal place to cook. I can't speak to the pool because we visited in the winter, but it looks nice. However, there…
Response from Sally:
Over The Course Of 17 Years Of Hosting, Over 30 Reviews (Here And Elsewhere) Have Given Me 4.5 Stars. Brad’s Primary Complaint Is Hot Tub Didn’t Work. However The Breakdown Was Caused By Brad And I Am Making A Claim On The Security Deposit. So To Offset That, He Is Coming Up With A Litany Of Complaints To Justify Asking For 50% Of His Money Back.(Equal To The Amount Of The Security). That Weekend The Temperature Reached down to the single digits the coldest in decades. As A Result Pipes All Over The Northeast Froze. Too Many People (8 or more) Went In The Perfectly Working Tub which was At 102 Degrees Friday Evening (Per The Information Provided By Another Guest At The House) For An Hour And Displaced Enough Water To Leave The Water Level Below The Filter Line, Which Caused The Circulation Pump To Stop Running. The Guests Say That The Jets Stopped While They Were In The Tub. However, They Didn’t Contact Me Until The Next Day. By That Time, After 12 Hours Without Water Going Through The Pump And Lines, The Equipment Froze. I Didn’t Think I Had To Point Out Not To Put More People In The Tub Than There Were Seats. I Have A Jacuzzi Bathtub As Well Whose Pipes Froze. I Texted To Give An Instruction The First Evening To try to Prevent This From Happening. Because It Wasn’t understood or done, they did freeze And My Husband Went Over Saturday, (30 Minutes After Being Called), To Take Care Of It. He Did Fix The Bathtub and Spent All Day In The Freezing Cold Trying To Fix The Hot Tub The short of it: hot tub - renter’s fault. I’m very sorry it happened and I know it was his main source of enjoyment but I provided a working hot tub as he can attest to. jacuzzi bath - fixed upon phone call garbage bags - offered substitute ice machine - provided ice all other complaints are fictional Here Is My Response To All His Other Complaints. To Begin With, Every Text And Phone Call Was Returned Within 30 Minutes, This house has 6 Bedrooms, 6 Baths And 18 Beds, It Clearly Is Set Up For 16 Guests. The Heat Worked Perfectly Upon Arrival And Departure. The Tenants Didn’t Contact Me About Heat Complaints During Their Stay (Perhaps Because There Was No Actual Problem). They Had A Fire Going The Entire Time They Were There. Keeping A Fire Going Actually Removes Heat From The Room. Fires Are For Show, Not For Heat, Unless You Have A Blower. The Dishwasher And Garbage Disposal Worked Perfectly Both Before And After His Stay. Brad Clogged The Disposal And Didn’t Bother To Call To Ask Where The Reset Button Was. The Ice Machine Was Broken, Which I Told Him In Advance And Provided A Full Icemaker Of Ice Plus An Entire Bag Which Was The Equivalent Of 2 Days Worth Of Ice For His 3 Day Stay. No Garbage Bags: The Cleaning Women Used The Last Garbage Bag and I told him I had other small bags To Use If They Didn’t Want To Take A “5” (Not 30) Minute Trip Into Sag Harbor. Regarding Provisions, I Provide An Entire Refrigerator Door Of Condiments For Guest Use As Well As All Cleaners, Propane Gas For Bbq, Etc. I Happen To Know That Their Shopping Hadn’t Been Done Yet Because The Girls Who Showed Up early Asked Me Where To Go To Shop. As for his story about arrival- Brad Wasn’t There And Seems To Be Confused About Timing. I Told him he Could Come Anytime After 4pm but That I Had To Leave By 5 (There Are Instructions For Entry). The First 2 Guests Arrived At 345 While I Was Out And I Texted Them To Ring The Doorbell And The Cleaning Ladies Would Let Them In. I Gave Them A Tour When I Returned At 4 And Then I Left.
