Charming rural accommodation for 2-4 people in converted barn only 12-15 minutes from Visby. Rapped limestone walls, limestone mosaics from Slite and visible beams make this mini-apartment of about 35 m2 a cosy base for excursions to all parts of the island. Comfortable sofa bed (160cm wide), open bar kitchen (DM/K/F/M/Stove), sleeping alcove with bunk bed and fresh shower room with WC (2018). Good indoor climate with new air heating/AC (2018). New wooden decks and private patio with evening sun and gas grill. Smart TV (2020).

The space
The apartment is built in a part of the old stable that a few years ago was ready to fall. The floor was dug up, the plaster removed, beams were replaced, a new slab cast, limestone mosaics were added, the walls were polished with retained structure and interior walls for bathrooms and sleeping alcoves were built - and so within a few years this charming little home emerged.

For the 2017 season the walls were painted white which gave an extra boost to the accommodation and for the 2018 season installed long-awaited water toilet and air heat pump (with AC). The front porch was completed in 2019 with a patio with evening sun. From 2020, the new private patio will be completed with outdoor lighting and shielding. New Smart TV (Samsung) installed (2020).

The accommodation is likely to be best suited for a couple, possibly with children; adults can then sleep on a comfortable sofa bed (160 cm wide) and children can sleep in the sleeping alcove.

Starting in 2019, we'll try a cleaning fee and professional cleaning system for a more even and better experience for everyone. However, if you'd rather do the final cleaning yourself, let the host know before completing the booking and we'll adjust the price to match your commitment.

Sheets/towels are available for rent for those who do not bring their own (100 SEK per person per stay).

Where you’ll be

Gotland, Gotlands Län, Sweden

What I like about living like we do in Gotland is that it's really in the country - while it doesn't take more than about 12-15 minutes into the shops and Visby. This is also the real Gotland to the extent that everyone who lives around here is settled; the land is cultivated and the cows graze.

I am a single scholarship to two small wonderful and entertaining (true!) children and otherwise work on international relationships with a government agency.

The two items that I rent out are both in the barn that I've rebuilt and renovated for 10 years. The barn is separated by a yard from the residence where I myself live.

One property is a large, three-story apartment with room for up to six guests. The second home is a compact mini apartment of about 35m2 with room for up to four guests.

What they have in common is that they are found in a rural idyll that, despite the tranquility, is only about 10 minutes driving time from Visby. The location is also ideal for excursions to all of Gotland's sights and beaches.

During your stay

I try to meet to hand over keys, show around and answer questions. Otherwise, the accommodation you have rented is your accommodation and I would rather leave it to you to seek me if there is anything you lack, wish or wonder about.
