Colle dell'ara is not a hotel. Staying with us, in our home, means treating yourself to a rare experience. With us You will have the opportunity with us to experience a vacation in the heart of the flavors, the scents and the colors of our land.
Colle dell'ara is not a hotel. Staying with us, in our home, means treating yourself to a rare experience.
We are in Positano, in the small village of Montepertuso, located just above this corner of paradise on the Amalfi Coast.
The building is situated on top of the hill and can be reached on foot in 5-6 minutes through an ancient path, fully illuminated at night.
We are Pasquale and Giacomo, who with the help of our father Michele, a few years ago we decided to undertake this activity which constantly
is giving us the opportunity to convey to our guests our main passions for hospitality and good food. These passions, well-established in our
coastal land and agriculture, allowing us to constantly reinvent the offer to our guests dedicated, basing it on availability and seasonality values.
We host you in rooms equipped with private bathroom and balcony overlooking the sea of Positano between the islands of Capri and Li Galli. Each room has a large double bed (with the possibility of adding a single bed), and are equipped with linens, towels and toiletries. Free wi-fi connection is working in all our spaces. We provide you with keys for your independent access at every time.
Interaction with Guests
Upon your arrival you will find free parking slots along the road and we'll help you carry your luggage with a special pulling system.
We will assist you from beginning, accompanying you throughout whole of your stay suggesting you the best local amenities including activities from ourselves offered.
You will have here the opportunity to experience our land through different activities such us farming excursions and local cooking classes (events organized on reservation). We always include breakfast, different every day and based on availability of our gardens, or made by the breads and cakes that we daily prepare.
The center of Positano is reachable by bus in 20 minutes or 35-40 minutes through a centuries-long staircase. For trekking lovers, our structure is directly related to the main paths of Monti Lattari and the most famous Walkpath of God.
However, we are located at the center of several important location like Pompei, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento, reachable by ferry, bus or car. Nearby you will find shops and restaurants.
From the moment of arrival to getting back into the car to head to our next destination, Colle dell'ara was and is a magical place. High in the hills above Positano is this wonderful place.
Giacomo and his family truly share their love, heart and culture with you. He greeted us as the luggage was taken up by the pulley system. After being in the hustle and bustle of Naples, it was such a breath of fresh air to slow down. Giacamo walked us up the path to the home which is an experience itself. Once we came upon the home our mouths dropped on the beauty of this place. Such a warm welcome and we came in on the night of the family dinner. Giacomo and his father were busy making this lovely dinner and the menu was on the board as you came into the home. He offered us to decompress on the communal terrace. He then showed us to our room and again the scenery and views just make you fall in love. The rooms are comfortable and bathrooms are well equipped. Wi-fi was fast and easily accessible. We sat out on the terrace and just relaxed. On the communal terrace an adorable outdoor orange kitty quickly became our friend and love (named him Arancio). The garden they have is truly spectacular and is the center of the family dinner. This is farm to table!
The dinner that evening with the guests and family was the highlight of our trip. Unbelievable food that was out of this world! Not to mention the kindness and warmth you felt from Giacomo and his family.
On the second day we hiked the path of the gods which is a not miss! That night we went to a Trattoria Taglia nearby and again had an amazing dinner. Giacomo made dinner reservations for us.
They have a wonderful local wine offering that we shared one of the wines on our personal balcony overlooking the town and sea below. We also bought house-made limoncello and mandarincello to share at home and reminisce on our stay at Colle dell'ara.
We can only give the highest review and regards to Giacomo and his family for making the stay the best ever!

This was my first time in Italy and without a doubt, Colle dell'ara was the most beautiful and shall I dare say magical place to stay.
The reviews are on point. While doing my search I debated over whether to stay in town or here. I'm so glad I decided to stay away from all the hustle and bustle. The property has beautiful views and it has a very homey feel to it. Bedrooms are nicely decorated and overall felt like I was visiting relatives :)
The walk to the place from the main road is a little hike, but they take care of the luggage so that helps. The bus to town runs every hour and it takes about 20-25 minutes depending on traffic. You can also take the "steps" down to town as other reviewers suggested. It's a bit challenging on your knees but the views are incredible.
Pasquale and his father were very attentive and got out of their way to make me feel at home. Breakfast was great every morning (that coffee is delicious) and the famous dinner was so amazing. It was a great opportunity to sit with other guests at the table, get to know them, have great conversation while enjoying some great home cooking!!
Overall I really loved this place and would highly recommend it. Can't wait to visit again. Thank you Pasquale!!
We are traveling by car in Italy and using a GPS but have found that each accommodation has been an experience trying to find the address hindered often by the scarcity of parking. With the help of unknown Good Samaritans in Montepertuso, we found this mountain hideaway. Our luggage disappeared up an iron crate and was waiting for us in our rooms. The hike to the hotel was an adventure. We are 72 and 82 aged guests but made the hike and when you walk through their front door you find yourselves in the most charming Italian villa. Your room has everything you could need and a balcony in some rooms that let you see the bay of Positano. This view from the room or patio downstairs....you will never tire enjoying it. The breakfasts are phenomenal. Lots of homemade pasties and fresh fruit. As others have said DO NOT MISS one of the dinner nights with Giocomo and Pasquale. You will not be disappointed booking here. And there is a very convenient bus that goes into Positano and the bus driver has to maneuver the narrow, curvy road to the center.
We had a magical time at Colle dell'ara. It was such an unexpected surprise. Pasquale and Michele were very hospitable, always making sure we were comfortable or always willing to make dinner suggestions or reservations. The local, organic vegetarian meal was one of our favorites in Italy. I have already recommended this to friends and family.
My experience at colle dellara was amazing!! It was far better than I ever expected. Giacomo and his family were excellent hosts. I would stay here again given the opportunity. It is much nicer to stay here than down in the town. The view is fantastic, the breakfast provided is so elaborate, delicious, and fresh. The optional dinners are worth a try as well! Every part of my experience here was phenomenal. Thank you!
Wow!!! What a fantastic place to stay! We only stayed two nights, but we wish we had stayed more! This is a very special bed and breakfast with fantastic hosts. Colle dell'ara was a highlight of our three week trip across Italy and Greece. Highly, HIGHLY, recommend staying here!
The location is breathtaking. It is situated high on the cliffs in a small village overlooking Positano. Our room was very clean and had a beautiful view as advertised. There is a bus service that runs every half hour to and from Positano. But if you want to see some stunning views, we suggest taking the stairs (1800 or so) down to Positano (and catch the bus up later). Well worth it! However, there are still a few steps to be taken from the bus station, but it was definitely manageable for ourselves and all the other guests we met during our stay.
Giacomo and his father were the perfect hosts, they made sure we felt very welcome and that we were enjoying our stay at all times. They arranged a driver for us to and from Naples, which was very helpful. The homemade breakfast was absolutely delightful and delicious, which we enjoyed out on the common area terrace with a gorgeous view.
Now our most favourite part of our stay was the meal that Giacomo and his father prepared for the guests. (Extra cost but it is a must!) They make the dinner every second night or so, with approximately 90% of the ingredients sourced directly from their garden. It is family style, so all the guests sit at one big table - where we got to meet the most wonderful people from around the world. The night we had dinner, it was a very delicious 7 course meal with unlimited wine. After dinner was served, Giacomo joined us and the other guests for drinks and served us homemade liqueurs (which you can buy to take home with you). The dinner and drinks really made for a fantastic evening we will not forget and we made many new friends.
Thank you for the wonderful stay - we will be back someday!

Hello everybody! I'm Pasquale.
I am graduated in Political Science and after many trips around the world I decided to return in Positano and running here, with my brothers and my family this "adventure" based on hospitality.
We always hope to offer you a new wonderful family experience in the heart of nature, good food and wine, and Slow Life!
