It's winter! Come ski all day and lounge all night!!!

The Space

Hi! Welcome to our peaceful home. This two bedroom ranch is up a hill, out of sight, and ready to make you feel at home. Here you will be able to lounge around, inside or out, and use it as a jumping off point to all the wonderful things the Hudson Valley area has to offer.
Our home is located in southern Columbia County in a tiny little town called Gallatin. We are near Ancram and Pine Plains.
We have two bedrooms of equal size. One bedroom has a king bed, the other a bunk bed and a twin bed with a trundle. Both rooms have big closets and lots of drawers. There is a piano in the living room and comfy furniture to lounge on. We have a wood stove to keep you warm. The house is complete with all kitchen utensils, towels, sheets, pillows, blankets, and books and games. We have a binder full of info on where things are in the house and instruction booklets for things like the coffee maker and other gadgets. There is a washer and dryer available. We have table and chairs on the porch as well as lawn furniture and a gas grill.
There is no cable or internet service and cell service can be spotty. We do have a TV and DVD player and VCR.
We are within walking (well, we used to walk) distance of Lake Taghkanic State Park, about 18 miles to Catamount Ski Area, 28 to Butternut, an hour to Ski Windham, 16 miles to downtown Hudson, 20 miles to Rhinebeck, and 25 miles to Great Barrington. There are a million great places to visit here and we have a notebook in the house with info on a lot of them for you to look at.
As winter approaches we want folks to know that because the house is on a hill and the driveway is steep, sometimes ,despite the best efforts of our wonderful plowman, the driveway becomes impassable and you have to hike up the hill. There is a lower parking space on the left side of the driveway. We keep sleds to ease the carrying of goods (and little ones). I also have to say that we went all of last year without a problem, but I want to warn people of the possibility so there is no misunderstanding of country life in winter.
We are happy to answer your questions as I am sure we are leaving something out!
All we ask is for you to please respect our home and treat it as your own. We are open to well behaved pets but not to smoking. Please, before booking contact us and tell us a little about your pet. . Thanks!

  • Our stay with Elisa at her home was just what we needed. Elisa was very easy to work with. She answered all questions that I had very promptly. We traveled with 3 kids and she was very accommodating by making sure she pulled out plenty of sleds (which the kids enjoyed). There were also many games and activities in the house that the kids enjoyed. The house has everything that you would need to enjoy a getaway. It was very peaceful, we even were able to see the deer almost come right up to the windows. She does warn you about her driveway, which after a recent snowfall was impossible to drive up, but it didn't ruin our stay (just gave us some exercise). We all (even our dog) really enjoyed ourselves.

  • We had a wonderful time in Ancram. Elisa was so helpful, and we felt right at home. We were a little bit concerned about the weather conditions, since it was snowing really badly, that it turned out to be a plus! The whole forrest right in front of the cabin was covered in snow, dears would stop by during the day! It was magical and we loved the house. We were 4 adults, a kid, and a dog. Everyone was happy and we will definitely be back!

  • Elisa's home was fantastic ! We loved the decor and the heating was superb. It was right near Hudson so that was very convenient since we were able to check out all the shops and restaurants there. She was very communicative and answered all my queries promptly. The driveway was a bit tough to navigate but we managed due to the spot on the side. All in all, we had a great time!

  • We had an amazing experience staying at this cabin. The cabin was warm, cozy, and very spacious. The weather was snowy and looked beautiful through the windows in the cabin. Also, the kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to prepare a meal. Noone bothered us, it was a perfect getaway and we're looking forward to revisiting soon.

  • My girlfriends where looking for a relaxing weekend getaway from NYC and couldn't have picked a better spot! The location is great it is very close to Lake Taghkanic which has beautiful hiking trails and a swimming beach. Elisa also has a huge binder of fun activities to do in the area, we hit up a local winery she mentioned in the binder and it was wonderful! If you are looking for a relaxing dose of nature this is the spot.

  • We were looking for a to stay while attending the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. We tried AIRBNB, based on positive comments from friends. We found Elisa's cottage to be within our budget, and close enough to the festival.

When we arrived Elisa was there to greet us. She showed us around the cottage, and encouraged us to make ourselves at home She said we should be sure to give her a call if there were any problems or if we needed anything. We didn't need to call. was just fine, especially the pie that she left us for dessert.

We wouldn't hesitate to return to the cottage when we are in the area again.
