Rustic but spacious cabin on eight acres of land, with creek and pond in the back.

The space
Eight Acres is nestled on Sugar Mountain, just outside Newland, North Carolina. For a quiet getaway where you can relax in rustic comfort, wander among the old apple trees and explore nature's bounty, or drive minutes to explore antique stores, the majestic Grandfather Mountain or Linville Gorge, Eight Acres is a convenient respite from our busy lives. The cabin stands on the plot of Martin Banner's homestead, the original settler of Sugar Mountain. The current structure was built in 1989 out of pine and chestnut.

Bottom floor has bedroom with two twin beds, bathroom with shower, washer/dryer, full kitchen, dining and living areas. Pull-out couch in living room can sleep another two people.
Upstairs is bedroom with queen-size bed, full bath.
Deck out back spans the entire length of the house.

Cabin is on the "quiet" side of Sugar Mountain. On the other side is the ski resort, Banner Elk, and other cute towns worth discovering.

This is a little piece of paradise away from the hustle and bustle of society. Quiet, with just the bubbling trickle of water coming down the mountain. Pond in the back attracts frogs, dragonflies, and other native wildlife.
There's a couple of small farms up the road, and a friendly chocolate lab that may wander by to say hi.

We work to travel and explore the world around us. Too much to see; too little time. Diversity of people, food, cultures, nature - is fascinating. Mark is a senior ecologist and Mary works in communications and marketing.

During your stay

We're a phone call/text away, and we have a local couple that look after the place for us - mowing grass, providing supplies, etc.
