The space
Built in 1921 Karashka house is one of the most delicately restored old houses in the area. We have used only natural materials such as stone, clay and wood. The stone roof carries the spirit of the 19th century. The house is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 5 people. There are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the upper floor. Kitchen, dining and living rooms are on the ground floor. We have additional studio for 2 people in case guests are more than 5 persons. The house is suitable for wildlife enthusiasts, who are willing to visit "Central Balkan National Park" and explore the local area, but not only! The place is also perfect for people seeking privacy, digital detox and relaxation.

Guest access
Free parking on site and ca.2500 sq.m lawn yard.

Other things to note
As a part of the local rural life can have road in not great condition, muddy paths, some insects in the SUMMER, can met some animals, during day can hear the noise of lawn-mower or motor chain saw from some neighbour.

In the WINTER period we are happy to rent out the house to people who are comfortable with the below mentioned set up:

1. Heating system: the entire house is heated by a wood-stove, which is manually loaded. This means that in order to maintain comfortable temperature, you will have to load wood into the stove every couple of hours. The wood already chopped and available in a shelter next to the house entrance. The heating system functions using natural gravity, which means it won't stop or be affected by potential electricity disruption (electricity may be disrupted for a short period of time occasionally during a storm or heavy snow).
We will provide you with further instructions upon arrival, in case you are not familiar with such heating systems.

2. Car access: due to its unique location the house may be difficult to reach if there is high snow. The secondary roads in Bulgaria may not be cleaned as often during the winter season, so you may have to park your vehicle where the main road ends and walk the last ca 1km. If the snow has just melted that same 1 km stretch may be muddy - so we recommend 4x4 wheel drive car.

Please also note that during the winter period (especially January and February) if average temperatures fall below -10° C, it may be more difficult to maintain all rooms of the house comfortably heated, therefore we recommend that you bring some warm clothes.

We want to make sure that your stay meets your expectations - therefore, if you are comfortable with the above we are very happy and looking forward to welcome you and let you experience the winter magic of the Bulgarian mountains.

Where you’ll be

Selishte, Gabrovo, Bulgaria

The house is located in the Selishte village near Apriltsi town in central Bulgaria. The neighborhood is small and rural with approx 10 houses nearby. The house is located on a southern slope, about 500m altitude, surrounded by large forests, offering spectacular views of Stara Planina. You will enjoy the most majestic peaks Botev, Kademlya and Maragidik. The village is in a mountainous region, located directly on the road Sevlievo - Apriltsi. The road is a third class with good asphalt, but narrow and dangerous turns. We are located close to "Central Balkan National Park", which is one of the largest and most important protected areas in Europe.
