Come explore quiet Colorado country in our totally renovated school bus. My friend converted it to a "skoolie" in the 80’s and lived in it for years in the mountains. After moving it here to Crawford, we’ve been hard at work with a full remodel. It is still a rustic retreat, but it features running hot and cold water, electricity, and a composting toilet. You won’t forget the peaceful surroundings of this unique getaway, 30 minutes from the north rim of the Black Canyon.

The space
The bus sits on my small slice of paradise in the shadows of the West Elk Mountains with Needle Rock (an extinct volcano core) visible nearby. My home is just up the hill from the bus, but they are separated by many trees and turned away from each other to provide privacy. The driveway is steep and gravel but passable for all vehicles unless there is a bad snow storm. We are located a few minutes outside of the tiny town of Crawford. Please respect my privacy in the house and let me know if you plan to go for a hike.

Guest access
You can access the bus and all of the property extending to the creek. You can also access adjoining properties to check out the views, including the federal public land behind my house which extends to the top of the hill, an arduous hike that rewards you with panoramic views of Grand Mesa, Landsend Peak, Needle Rock, Saddle Mountain, and the Ubcompahgre Plateau.

Other things to note
There is running water and electricity. Please preserve water in the arid West. The toilet is an electric composting toilet. Please no outdoor fires unless explicitly approved. Fire danger is usually high here.
