We absolutely loved this place! If you are looking for a quiet place in the middle of nature you have to go here! I practiced yoga every morning on the terrace next to the pool overlooking the mountains and surrounded with the sounds of lots of different birds. Gilberth is a wonderful host and he made sure everything was perfect! We loved the food and it was so nice to eat finally real and great Costa Rican food. Gilberth arranged a visit to the sugarcane farm and the coffee farm for us, both are directly around the corner. At the sugarcane farm we got to see the whole process of making the sugar "tapas", we also could try the fresh sugarcane and it was delicious! You can buy the sugar at the farm. The coffee tour was guided by a member of the family of the coffee farm, she explained the whole process and we had to pick or own coffee straight from the tree, and the end of the tour we made our own coffee which we drink with a nice home made lunch wrapped in a banana leaf it was delicious! Our stay at
Corredores del Pacuare was unforgettable and if we ever go back to Costa Rica we would go straight back to this wonderful place!
We fell in love with this rural, mountain community, incredibly kind and generous host, and rustic, charming lodge, complete with swimming pool, hot tub, and delicious home-cooked food. Tons of beautiful birds, an incredible view of the valley, and a clean, organized lodge all make us want to come back next year, which we are already planning to do. In fact, we decided to invite our family and friends and get married at the lodge next year! We can't recommend this place enough...it is off the beaten track and gives a real sense of what rural Costa Rica is like. You can hike up the mountain right from the property, visit a local family-run sugar cane plant, go rafting nearby, and just relax, away from the crowds. Gilberth speaks good English, and is very ready to please. He will pick you up from the bus coming from Turrialba. Turrialba has regular bus service from San Jose. The lodge is about 3.5 hours from San Jose, by safe, reliable, cheap public transportation. Gilberth just opened up this lodge in the last few years, which is why he doesn't have many reviews yet. But we are so grateful we took the chance and stayed at his lodge, and you will be too! What a hidden treasure.
