Villa Cilinaya, Tranquil & Quiet

Villa - Private room · Ubud, Bali 80571, Indonesia
Made Subaga

Villa Cilinaya is located on the Northen end of Ubud, the most famous artist village in Bali. Ubud is nearby the ancient Ubud Market and Tagalalang Rice Terraces. We offer unique accommodations in the valley; a very comfortable, serene environment. We have hot and cold water, a touch of unique art and design, free wi-fi, and a terrace with a view of the rice fields.

Ubud offers a range of outdoor activities. Its rivers, valleys, rice fields and hills provide a stimulating landscape for the adventurous tourist. Tour operators offer rafting, cycling, trekking, bird watching, elephant rides, kayaking, and many other activities. Rafting provides an especially excellent opportunity to check out the natural scenery and wildlife of Ubud.

Ubud tourism focuses on culture, yoga, and nature. In contrast to the main tourist area in southern Bali, the Ubud area has forests, rivers, cooler temperatures and less congestion.

Ubud is an ideal place to walk around, especially if you check out the small streets and alleys on the side of every road. They lead you to amazing places such as rice fields, river valleys, temples and Balinese living court yards.

We can provide airport transportation, as well as motorbikes or a driver while you stay here.

  • It was a very pleasent stay. An excellent hospitality, great place, isolated, very clean and tidy, and close to down town Ubud. Available car parking lot and safe place to stay.

  • First of all, this place was beautiful and came with a lovely view right outside my bedroom. The location was especially convenient as it was right in Ubud close by to all the action. If there was somewhere that I wanted to get over to, Made allowed me to use a really nice motorbike that he had available. The first night I was there, because it was raining, he actually gave me a ride over to a local reggae bar that I was looking for. I also appreciated that breakfast was available for me right outside my room every morning of my stay. Great stuff.

All in all, I enjoyed the trip very much and will highly recommend it to anyone interested.

  • A lovely place tucked just a short walk away from the streets of Ubud and a short drive away from the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. The main street just outside has lots of traditional craft shops. Made & his wife weren't around in the day when we checked in but the receptionists were very welcoming and treated us to a refreshing glass of apple juice. Check-in was smooth & took about 10mins.

The whole place is almost like a mini hotel. Rooms were impeccable, with a large bathroom, mini vanity area and comfortable bed. Everything is very clean and in working order. Basic amenities such as soap (no shampoo), dental kit, body lotion were provided and replenished daily. The housekeeping is excellent and they even help to pack your things neatly. They also come by each night to place mosquito coils outside the room.

We booked 3 out of the 4 villas - 2 at the bottom level and 1 on the second level. There's a small sitting area and mini kitchen just outside the rooms. The view from the second level is pretty scenic. We were able to use the small but very pretty pool of the private 2-level villa to our right as it wasn't booked at that time.

We packed some food from Gianyar street market one night and sought Made's assistance to see if he had a microwave so that we could heat up the food. He didn't have one, but personally showed us around the mini-kitchen outside the villa. Pretty well-stocked for a simple meal, with a pan, plates, utensils, dish soap etc. It turned out to be one of the best meals we had :)

Made and his wife are lovely hosts. We didn't get to interact much with them as we were only there for 2 nights, but Made is a wealth of information and a very learned man. They have 2 very friendly and lovely dogs as well, one of which roamed to our side one morning. But it's well-trained and didn't come near the villas until we went up to it to pat it.

Just 2 things to note: 1) The bathroom has glass doors with no curtains (the shower area inside has a short shower curtain), so just to take note if you are a non-couple sharing the room. It pretty much means if one needs the bathroom, the other may have to wait outside the villa. 2) On the first morning they served our breakfast later than we had requested for. I'm not sure if it was a miscommunication on our part or because they brought the breakfast back when they didn't see us and thought we were still sleeping, which is thoughtful of them. Not a big deal, but if you need breakfast served at an exact time, just be sure to let them know specifically.

All in all, it was a wonderful stay for all of us and we'd be back if we're ever in Ubud again :)

  • My stay in Made's Villa has been very pleasant. The place itself is tucked not too far away from the center that I didn't have any issue walking from the villa to the common attractions. I also like the peace and quiet the place has afforded me.

The room itself was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff was friendly. This is a very good deal in my opinion.

  • Made is a gentleman and a scholar - and his place and company reflects! He was kind enough to host me last minute (a perpetual habit of mine to seek out last minute Airbnb's). The place is quiet, young and full of promise. The location is quite close to the Ubud center and of course, I highly recommend getting around with a scooter or car.

As about first timers to Ubud, bring a light sweater or jacket - you'll need it at this slightly higher altitude or at least for scooting under the moon light.

  • Totally relaxing, gorgeous place to stay. The very modern Balinese architecture, furniture and kitchen outside your door are beyond belief for the price you pay. The included breakfast is always on time and very filling. Air conditioning not really needed except helped a lot with the high humidity. Because the two level separate villa with its own pool was empty while we were there, we were able to use the pool. A new pool for the rest of the rooms has been started. You can walk a short distance down the busy street to 3 warungs for very inexpensive good Indonesian food. Made and his wife are delightful and excellent source of information to help you leave knowing a lot more about the best of Bali and its people. For a very special restaurant experience, ask Made about his brother's restaurant nearby which serves popular duck dishes as well as a large Indonesian menu. The very large (2 hectares) place has a central planted rice paddy with private dining areas all around it and the price is very reasonable. The best time to go is on Sunday evening as they also have a wonderful Balinese dance/music performance. You cannot find a better value in Ubud area but to get into downtown you will need to have your own transportation or you are offered rides by people on the streets though there is no organized taxi service in the area.
