Self check-in

Check yourself in with the smartlock.
Escape to a secluded forest guesthouse where rest and renewal come naturally, with the coastline just a short drive away. Enter through a private, gated entrance into a modern and bright open living space with airy cathedral ceilings.

Unwind in a spa-style bathroom with a soaking tub and oversized shower, prepare meals in the full kitchen, and sleep soundly at the end of a quiet, wooded road. A restorative, rustic cabin retreat offering solitude, stillness and easy access to Penobscot Bay.

The space
After a day exploring the coast, nearby trails, or surrounding villages, return to the Midcoast Forest Getaway where mid‑century modern design blends with warmth and comfort.

The well-maintained space includes a calm bedroom with a queen bed and enough closet storage to unpack for a multi-week stay. Rejuvenate in the spa‑inspired bathroom after a brisk afternoon spent on Acadia’s granite shores or beach-combing for shells on nearby Sears Island.

Slow your pace in the forest without giving up convenience to Midcoast adventure across the region. After a full day’s activity, settle in for a home-cooked meal prepared in the fully equipped kitchen while listening to vinyl. Stretch out in the open living area or step outside onto your private patio, surrounded by trees and quiet. Ideal for romantic escapes, solo recharge trips, or focused work‑from‑anywhere stays.

It’s a smooth transition from adventure to stillness when on an extended stay. Spend your morning responding to work email with high-speed Wi-Fi while the on-site laundry hums in the background. Next, you’re taking in a sunny afternoon paddling Penobscot Bay’s coves. At the day’s end, reward yourself with a deep, therapeutic soak in the spa bathtub.

Guest access
Enjoy convenient self check‑in with a smart lock for a smooth, flexible arrival. Guests are welcome to use the area immediately surrounding the guesthouse, including the patio. For privacy and safety, access beyond the garage and deeper into the woods is reserved for the main residence.

Other things to note
You’ll find some of our favorite neighbors (Cedar, Ed, Kota, and Henry) just a short walk beyond the guesthouse. Downeast Donkey Walks offers a peaceful way to connect with nature without needing to get in your vehicle. Whether you’d like a calm morning stroll through the woods or just want to meet the herd in the pasture, these four friends are ready to say hello and mingle. May through October.

We welcome guests of all backgrounds and identities. Creating an inclusive, respectful, and comfortable experience is central to how we host. The Midcoast Forest Getaway is an LGBTQIA+‑owned vacation rental where all travelers are welcome.

My work: Product and Ops Mgmt
I’m a lifelong Mainer who grew up in Western Maine and later lived in the Greater Portland area. In 2024, I moved to the Midcoast to enjoy sailing and a quieter, more rural way of life. The Midcoast Forest Getaway is designed for couples and solo travelers seeking a peaceful connection to nature paired with contemporary style. It’s well suited for focused work trips, executive stays, or medical travel—offering privacy, comfort, and a calm place to recharge after a full day.
