The room in Abigail's home was divine! The natural light, beautiful warm wood, art work, and copious happy plants were very welcoming. Scrabble in front of a glowing fireplace fire, after a full day of Portsmouth, was just what we needed... Abigail and Jeffrey were warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast in their home was scrumptious! We hope to return very soon.
Abigail connected with me prior to our weekend there to iron out details of arrival/departure and to let us know of specifics for our stay (such as where to park, contact numbers, etc). The room was just as I expected - lovely, peaceful, cozy yet spacious - a perfect retreat for us two moms that needed a weekend of rejuvenation away from our families. We enjoyed fires in the fireplace (the first was poised, ready to be lit when we arrived!) and appreciated the fruit and real dishes made available to us. Our hosts introduced themselves, but left us to our own devices for the weekend, which was perfect for us.
The only significant drawback is that the driveway is very narrow, so we had to carefully squeeze in/out of the car to avoid dinging the doors on the fence/rock wall.
Still, the experience was immensely positive. We had such a good time, that we're intending to make this retreat a regular destination! We look forward to another visit in warmer weather so we can take advantage of the porch and walk into town.
Our stay was simply wonderful -- we felt so lucky to have this place of great beauty, art, comfort, and private space with delicious food accessible for whenever we chose to eat it. Lovely in every way.
Had a wonderful stay at Abigail's. Room was really clean, comfortable and just as pictured. So many special touches. Would definitely recommend it.
This is a fantastic space. The beautiful wood trim and floors, the many windows, the working fireplace, the lovely porch and gardens combine to make an exceptional experience. The bed is firm and perfect! There were both flat and tall pillows -- something I really appreciate. The snacks and breakfast were great. The space was overdecorated for my taste (I am of the 'less is more' school), but the positive features were so positive that the overcrowding of stuff didn't bother me. The only thing lacking is a bathtub, but if that's not important to you then this really is an excellent romantic getaway -- cozy, private, comfortable, beautiful. And you can just tell that the owners are nice people.
