About this listing
The house was originally owned by a famous Hollywood set designer so it has tons of character. Many pieces in the house were used in old Hollywood movies.
It's situated on a hillside in the Castellammare area of Pacfic Palisades, which resembles the Amalfi Coast.

The house is in the upscale residential community of Pacific Palisades. It's conveniently located just five minutes away from Santa Monica with the pier and 3rd Street Promenade shops/restaurants. Continue south a few minutes form Santa Monica to reach Venice Beach and the famous Boardwalk. Take Sunset Boulevard into Beverly Hills/West Hollywood/Hollywood (20-40 minutes) or drive just a couple miles north to Malibu. There's a grocery store VERY close to the house...about 1/4 mile away. It's also about 1/4 mile away from the Self Realization Fellowship spiritual center and the original Getty Museum.
A car is the best way to explore the city. I highly recommend the iPhone app Uber. It provides convenient transportation cheaper than a regular taxi.
Cleanliness is very important to me and I am pleased to offer a very clean house.
No smoking allowed. Make sure to park in front of the house, not the neighbor’s house. You can use the patio area but please do not go up the side stairs to the upper yard or beyond the small shed beyond the table and chairs because the ground is unstable. Parties are not allowed without prior permission. No more than two additional guests are allowed for a short visit. When you check out, you can simply leave the towels and bedding as they are. Just turn off lights, lock front door, and lock key in lockbox where you found it.
- Please observe the checkout time so I can prep the place for the next guest :) If there is nobody checking in the same day, I might be able to offer a late checkout. Please ask.
John is very thorough and attentive. He answered so many questions for us and was understanding about something we broke. Getting in via the lockbox was easy. The house is truly a "stunning villa" with tons of character. The details are extraordinary. It's a very short walk down stairs and across the foot bridge over the Pacific Coast Highway to an amazing beach and ocean swimming. The kitchen is well stocked with all we needed to make big meals. The beds and couches are cozy. The sound of the waves lulled us to sleep. It was nice to be able to do laundry. We would love to make an annual trip to this very special place!
We had a wonderful long weekend at the Villa. My in-laws came to town for their 50th wedding anniversary and this was the perfect place for 8 of us to stay. Enough room to be together and enough space for everyone to have their own space. The kitchen is well stocked, my wife cooked for the entire family with no problem. Walking distance from the beach and a short drive from hiking/running trails, it's close enough for everyone to find something fun to do. If in the area again with a large group, this would be the place I'd stay. It's funky and cozy charm made me feel right at home.
The experience was amazing! The house was better than it was shown to be on the listing itself. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY! Picked this house to propose to my girlfriend, and luckily she said yes - overall a dreamy weekend and the house made it that much more dreamier!
And John, was so communicative and went out of his way to make sure we were all set!
I booked this house for a client that was in town and she was in love with it! Its so interesting, in a beautiful location and cozy. John was a very accommodating and organized host and worked with our last minute schedule change. Thanks John!
I rented this villa for the band I was managing after a grueling month of touring North America so we could have a little down time before they all flew back to Europe. Outside of the calming ocean waves each room was its own enticing, magical little personal hideaway of fun. We enjoyed finding all the personalized touches hidden throughout each room, admired the eclectic decór and customized craftsmanship built into this place. It was obviously a home built with intention and love which exuded from both inside and outside each wall. As an artist and scenic painter I appreciated the detail of the design and color palettes in each and every room. Even though John was not available on check in or departure, we had no issues with the thoroughness of the written explaination of the self check in process. I would, however be aware that the small, narrow road up to the house will not accommodate large vehicles (we were in a Sprinter with trailer) which we learned the hard way. Upon our late arrival we needed to call a taxi to help us transfer our luggage up and down the hill. Other than that, the house was in a great location to LAX, beaches, shopping, sightseeing and restaurants. We thouroghly enjoyed ourselves here and found the solitude we were seeking in this place. Thanks John! We'll most definitely be back!
