We love the area not just for the views. The community is warm and helpful, typical northern hospitality.

Andrew and Paul are lovely hosts, generous with their time but sensitive enough to give people space, and are both interesting and impressive fellas.
Cragg Royd is a great place to stay. The house itself is beautiful and homely; the arts and crafts style and the artwork around their home making staying home a rich experience. The garden is particularly lovely, especially as it frames a view up to the fields (from the back), and the view from the front is wonderful, as you can see over the canal and river the the Calderdale hills.
From this house there are many pleasant walks, runs and rides to be had, including the bike path (route 66) which can be followed down into Hebden Bridge, with all of its great pubs, cafes, and restaurants. The local pub in Luddenden village is a classic cosy English pub, and they make gourmet food to boot.
Those who want to explore further afield could catch the train into Manchester, Leeds, or York (for the bigger cities), or explore some of the beautiful local villages like Heptonstall and Haworth.
Jean and I loved staying at Cragg Royd and meeting Andrew and Paul. We highly recommend this as a relaxing and inspiring place to come and stay.
Great people, great house, great location - everything to love about staying here, very much enjoyed my stay..
I would strongly suggest anybody looking for a comfortable, warm airbnb experience to stay with Paul and Andrew. I arrived late at night with a relatively large group of friends, and they were nothing but kind, funny and welcoming. They asked about our lives, offered us lasagna, and gave us our space. Our time in Halifax was made better by our fantastic hosts and beautiful home!
We were looking for a home away from home as we used to live in the area and didn't want a traditional b and b experience. The choice of Andrew and Paul's home was perfect in this regard. A very warm welcome on a cold rainy night was just what was needed and lots of little touches that helped make us feel comfortable sharing their home. Paul even put up a Christmas tree in our sitting room. Great spacious rooms, a comfy sitting room just for ourselves and an elegant quirkiness throughout their home - wonderful art throughout. We were also expecting to cook while there and the kitchen was always available with everything we might need and space to put our own food away. It's not particularly easy to find it in the dark as it is on a busy road and house numbers are not visible from the road, so recommend arriving in the daylight. We would recommend Andrew and Paul's home wholeheartedly.
Paul was a really welcoming and lovely host (Andrew was away). Wonderful house, and really homely feel. Amazing value. We stayed in one room and our friends were in the other, and we had our own little living room. Thanks!
We had a brilliant stay at Paul and Andrew's, they were great hosts and the room was really lovely. To also have our own sitting room and be offered tea/coffee and toast was a further bonus. Highly recommend and hope to return for another weekend.
