The Trastervere apartment looks great, however I cannot actually review it as our reservation was cancelled THREE HOURS before we arrived. It was our honeymoon and we were very much looking forward to staying in this apartment. Ermanno claimed there was a mistake with our booking (looking at other reviews he seems to do this frequently). With our backs up against a wall we we forced to accept Ermanno's other apartment near the Pantheon, which was no where near as nice as this looks. Did I mention there was a pile of human feces outside the door when we arrived?
I would avoid Ermanno's apartments at all cost. He seems to have a long history of booking then cancelling and offering an "alternative". I think what he is doing is unethical and Airbnb disallow him from being able to host. Unfortunately for Airbnb does not seem to penalize hosts or provide help to stranded travellers. This is something you should be very aware of before you book this apartment. Good luck and God speed. You'll need it with this guy.
Ermanno is the best host I've ever met! His hospitality and attitude was magnificent.
As for the place – I think it is the best location in Rome. You can reach any place by foot. I was visiting Rome with my mom and we both were happy about the location. It can seem a bit noisy at night, but if you were walking (and shopping :) all day long it does not matter. The place has everything you need for comfort living — corkscrew, coffee mug and toilet paper. And everything you want else upon request :)
Rome is the best city in the world and Ermanno is the best host in the world!
Thank you and hope to see you soon again!
Great location with a very helpful host. Walked everywhere from the apartment and local restaurants were good and value for money.
Seemed smaller than the pictures but was good for a couple.
Would definitely recommend to friends.
Great stay at Ermanno's place in Trastevere. Ermanno was a great host and even helped to organise a car to and from the Airport. The apartment in perfectly located for exploring all that Rome has to offer, situated a short walk away from all the main sites. Trastevere is a young vibrant neighbourhood, with lots of bars and restaurants, so there is the associated noise from the street. Overall a fantastic stay, would certainly recommend to anyone visiting Rome. Thanks Ermanno!
Ermanno was a great host!
There was an issue with booking, and we had to stay in a different (lovely) apartment for the first night we were in Rome (this was easily arranged b/c Ermanno has several properties.) While some people might find this an inconvenience, we loved it, as it gave us the opportunity to explore a different neighborhood. Also, Ermanno helped us move our luggage from one place to the next, and gave us tours of both neighborhoods, including restaurant and bar recommendations.
The Trastevere apartment is adorable, clean and convenient. It's a fun neighborhood, so what people have said about the noise might be true, depending on the night of the week. But we slept (soundly) with the windows open every night, so clearly had no issues.
We'd definitely stay there again!
This little gem is in a fantastic neighborhood with lots to do and drink and eat. It's like the Mission in SF or like Williamsburg in NY. Lots of tattoos and young people on the street every night.
The host was accommodating and very friendly. We'd stay here again for sure.
Beware that the hot water runs out in about 1.5 showers. But who cares, you're in Rome!
