Walking distance to the Ferry (6-15 minutes, depending on how fast of a walker you are), take a 20-minute relaxing ferry ride (free) or Express Bus (X13, 14, & 16) into lower Manhattan. The ferry runs every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; after midnight it runs every hour. Located one block from local and limited bus service and close to above-ground train station. If you prefer to drive, the apartment is located approximately 1.5 miles from the Verrazano Bridge into Bay Ridge, Brooklyn OR approximately 7.5 miles from the Goethals, Outerbridge and Bayonne Bridge into New Jersey.
Located in a Landmark area on a tree-lined, QUIET block in a Quaint/Historic neighborhood one block from the water with restaurants, convenient stores, cozy cafe, fruit/vegetable market within 2 blocks from the apartment. A beautiful park (Clove Lakes Park) with a restaurant on the lake, paddleboats, bicycle path, track, baseball diamond, ice-skating rink, etc. and Silver Lake Golf Course are within close proximity. The St. George Theatre and Farmer's Marker are within walking distance as well. No alternate-side of the street parking :) 3rd floor views of the Statue of Liberty. Charming with all original oak wood trim and updated modern kitchen & baths make this home one of the most sought after homes. Filmed in movies and featured in NY Magazine.
*Please note, the price is PER ROOM as there are 4 separate rooms with the largest room having its own bathroom, and this room (the attic room) potentially sharing a bathroom with other room in the house. Please see my other listings for the different rooms available and there is AN OPTION TO RENT ALL OF THEM TO HAVE THE ENTIRE HOME TO YOURSELF. The price for the WHOLE HOME is $350 a night when I am not living there. Otherwise, there may be others sharing the kitchen and living areas at times similar to a Bed & Breakfast. Still there is quite a bit of room to not feel anyone elses presence :) Laundry can be done for you on premises for a small fee, but is not for our guest's use, sorry.
The easiest way to the house is by car service, which you can secure immediately as you depart the airport terminal.
Please note, this listing, the top room with Statue of Liberty views, will have more pictures soon. We are just about complete with the renovations so updated photos will be coming :)
Please contact Alissa with any questions and interest!
Also, note, any guests who do not check out promptly by 11a will be charged a $20 late fee for every hour they are late. Unfortunately, we need to implement this now as many people are not honoring the check-out times and our time that we need to get the room and house ready for the next guests. We ask that everyone please be mindful of the check out times so we can be considerate of the next guests. We would be happy to hold luggage for you if your flight takes off later on in the day, but we absolutely need to have the room vacant by 11a. Thanks!

The room and the bathroom were clean and looked like on the pictures. Tha house is absoluetly amazing and the surroundings peaceful and quiet.
The best part is going by ferry and seeing the magnificent panorama of the Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty every day.
A super-pleasant experience, all-round. Alissa and her husband were very nice, prompt and helpful in dealing with all of my questions and requests. The upstairs room is pleasant, and clean, but on the small side - a great crash space for visits to the city, not really a place for more than one person to hang out in for much of the day. The house, on the other hand is very roomy, with lots of great common spaces and a pleasant garden. For me (a pretty fast walker), it was a solid 15 minutes to the ferry - pretty convenient.
I love to stay out on Staten Island in this wonderful house. It's been great to meet so many interesting people from all over the world. The house is always clean and comfortable. I miss being able to take the ferry before and after work (especially now when it's so beautiful at twilight and dusk!) if I have to stay elsewhere while in NYC.
The host was amazing, we got a chance to meet the husband and he's such a great guy. We had the attic, and it was perfect. My girlfriend and I, talk about it all the time and how much fun we had there. We met some Italian friends who were living there and we had a big dinner and got a chance to know each others culture. The house is beautifully designed and it is how it shows on the pictures. It's not far from a deli that's around the corner and less than 5 minutes walk to the ferry to the city. The neighborhood is quite and it's really the perfect place to spend a weekend.
Communication was perfect. We only saw the owner once, but he was a very friendly guy. The house is very nice (typical wooden house you see in movies), ground floor with living room and kitchen is nicely renovated. Bathroom was ok renovated.
The room itself was kind of disappointing: it was very cold (there was only an electrical stove, which is rather dangerous to leave on when no one's there, it took a long time to heat); renovation in this room seemed to be done in a hurry (carpet stained with paint, light switch on stairs doesn't work, no curtains). Most annoying thing: the squeals of the alarm (?), every hour or so the thing beeped, waking you up.
We were a bit surprised how long it takes to get into Manhattan: bus is every 15 minutes, but ferry is only every 30 minutes, so if you just miss one, you have to wait 30 minutes (+25 minutes on the boat). All in all, it takes at least an hour , if you plan well.
Me and my friend had the experience to stay in the attic of Alissa's house. There is a very authentic atmosphere of true America: the whole street could be the real scenery for a movie - wooden houses with old ivies, single lanterns, roads littered with yellow leaves. From the room in the attic where we sleep I see the old tree and further on the horizon-small side of Liberty Enlightening the World (pls don't expect to see the full of Miss Liberty, just little little piece of it).
All house is full of different great authentic details- old wooden rocking chair, old swing on the terrasse, ceramic washbasin... details are really impressive. After 3 weeks I would like to mention I miss this house and the street.
Only facts: ferry is 24 hours\7 days and free- so no costs to reach Downtown but the ferry is full of working men (during the day we have met many tourists, but middle class use cars mostly) so be ready for some kind of bathering from them. The street and the house is 20 min away (would never believe anybody can reach it by 6 mins - maybe running only) and in the night when we normally was back from the center it was scary to walk, because nobody is in the street and all men from the ferry were eating us by eyes...Normally we catched the cab. Before you enter the house from the street you should overcome a really tall ladder, than upstairs inside the house, and at last very narrow ladder in the attic. It was a challange for our huge luggage when we came and specially when we have bought some stuff in NYC and than packed it and than ...again downstairs. So if you have a big luggage-it would be difficult for attic. The attic is a really small cozy room, where you are ok to sleep, but not easy to stayt...better to lay :) The carpet in the attic was not clean (with dust and hairs) but hope they will clean it more carefully as it bothers, the bathroom is only one for 3 rooms (2 rooms+ attic), so we had to wait before to take a shower. The house has no central heating system, so while the weather was +10, we used electric heater in the attic and didn't take off our jackets in the living room, I don't know how it is if the weather is minus. This electric heater we had to use all the time has made the air in the room super dry and we had an issue after with our skin .
Alissa is a very communicative person, as we had no opp-ty to meet her personally, am sure (according our chats) she is very nice.
Once we would like to rent smth like this or exactly this attic again, just bear in mind all details we have faced with.
It's been awhile since i didn't visit New York and staying at Alissa's place was a nice NY treat. The house is not far from the Staten Island Ferry that passes right beside the Statue of Liberty all the way to Lower Manhattan. The room was nice and clean. Although i did not had the chance to meet Alissa's in person, me and my friend enjoyed our stay. Grocery stores and shops were not far. Great location. And free parking too!
This room is not as advertised. The room pictured is not the room that is provided. The actual room is quite basic, does not have statue of liberty views and the bed is not very comfortable. The other pictures of the house are accurate however and the house itself is quite pretty. The place is suitable for a short stay if you don't mind stooping as there are lots of low angled ceilings in the room and stairwell.
We spend 4 days in New York and had a great time, the house is spacious and clean. We haven't met Alissa in person but everything was arrangend by the time we arrived.
We took the ferry to Manhattan every day which is a nice free ride. I would totally recommend Alissa and this place.
