About This Listing
Walking distance to the Ferry (6-15 minutes, depending on how fast of a walker you are), take a 20-minute relaxing ferry ride (free) or Express Bus (X13, 14, & 16) into lower Manhattan. The ferry runs every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; after midnight it runs every hour. Located one block from local and limited bus service and close to above-ground train station. If you prefer to drive, the apartment is located approximately 1.5 miles from the Verrazano Bridge into Bay Ridge, Brooklyn OR approximately 7.5 miles from the Goethals, Outerbridge and Bayonne Bridge into New Jersey.
Located in a Landmark area on a tree-lined, QUIET block in a Quaint/Historic neighborhood one block from the water with restaurants, convenient stores, cozy cafe, fruit/vegetable market within 2 blocks from the apartment. A beautiful park (Clove Lakes Park) with a restaurant on the lake, paddleboats, bicycle path, track, baseball diamond, ice-skating rink, etc. and Silver Lake Golf Course are within close proximity. The St. George Theatre and Farmer's Marker are within walking distance as well. No alternate-side of the street parking :) 3rd floor views of the Statue of Liberty. Charming with all original oak wood trim and updated modern kitchen & baths make this home one of the most sought after homes. Filmed in movies and featured in NY Magazine.
*Please note, the price is PER ROOM as there are 4 separate rooms with the largest room having its own bathroom, and this room (the attic room) potentially sharing a bathroom with other room in the house. Please see my other listings for the different rooms available and there is AN OPTION TO RENT ALL OF THEM TO HAVE THE ENTIRE HOME TO YOURSELF. The price for the WHOLE HOME is $350 a night when I am not living there. Otherwise, there may be others sharing the kitchen and living areas at times similar to a Bed & Breakfast. Still there is quite a bit of room to not feel anyone elses presence :) Laundry can be done for you on premises for a small fee, but is not for our guest's use, sorry.
The easiest way to the house is by car service, which you can secure immediately as you depart the airport terminal.
Please note, this listing, the top room with Statue of Liberty views, will have more pictures soon. We are just about complete with the renovations so updated photos will be coming :)
Please contact Alissa with any questions and interest!
Also, note, any guests who do not check out promptly by 11a will be charged a $20 late fee for every hour they are late. Unfortunately, we need to implement this now as many people are not honoring the check-out times and our time that we need to get the room and house ready for the next guests. We ask that everyone please be mindful of the check out times so we can be considerate of the next guests. We would be happy to hold luggage for you if your flight takes off later on in the day, but we absolutely need to have the room vacant by 11a. Thanks!
Never saw Alissa but received an email with everything i needed to know. (Which was really great considering i booked a few hours before I needed to stay after being let down by a hostel). The neighbourhood is fine, quieter than Manhattan. Walking to the ferry takes 15 mins and the ferry takes 25min to Manhattan. There is a steep flight of stairs up to the attic room. The room itself is private with a locakable door and double bed. The shared bathroom is down the stairs. The room is light and pleasant and when it gets too hot just turn on the air con. The room is a good price (especially for 2 people). And the kitchen and downstairs amenities make it a better stay.
The place was different from what I expected! I loved the warmth and quietness. I did meet other guests briefly, but respected each other's privacy. Even though, the attic stairs were a bit steep, the room was comfortable and worthwhile to sleep in! Upon arriving at the house, I had bit of fun already every hour! The host was very quick to respond via texting if I had any questions.
It is a nice location for nyc. The bus that drops you is around the corner from.the house. The house was neat and well equipped. For travellers going there for the first time, buy a seven day unlimited bus and metro card. It is really worthwhile getting you everywhere in nyc. The house has great wifi that worked really well. Thanks for the nice stay
When we started this adventure, my initial thought about airbnb was "if i can't afford to stay in a nice hotel on our trip, then we shouldn't be going away!" However, we could afford any hotel hypothetically that we would have liked, but Meghann heard good things about this service and thought it would be a cool experience to do the non-tourist thing when we visited NYC. All I can say now...WOW!!! What an amazing trip we had and ultimately we owe it all to Alissa. We drove from Canada to Staten Island and it was the best 4 day getaway i can remember :) The place was better than pictured, "apparently" other people were at the house (we only briefly caught a glimpse of one respectful lady) and it made us feel submerged in the culture and atmosphere of the location. Alissa was extremely easy to deal with, let us extend our stay when we decided it was so awesome that one more night was in order and it allowed us to waste our money while in the City lol. Additionally, our biggest concern going into this trip was "is the commute from S.I. to Manhattan going to be a big pain?" Surprised again - the house was a quick walk to the FREE ferry and it didn't take half as long was we imagined, gave us great photo's as we traveled past the Statue of Liberty and provided amazing views of the skyline as we rolled into the Apple. Furthermore, the subway was literally steps away from the ferry and 5 minutes later we were walking up the stairs wondering if we were close to Times Square, when...BAM! Overwhelmed with the sites and sounds of the world's greatest city. We had both traveled various places in the world and our first trip to NYC blew us away. Again, the convenience and comfort that our "Historic Home" offered, just made everything that much better and gave us a home-base to start and finish daily. Thank you so much for ensuring when we arrived that everything was in order and even for leaving our change under the pillow when you stopped by hahaha. Everything exceeded our expectations and this place will be and is recommended to anyone heading to New York for the first time or the tenth time!
Everything you see is what you get. It was absolutely everything i needed:clean, away from the city & quiet. I had the house completely to myself & loved it. The only negative thing i would say is that I didn't take full advantage of booking longer than the 3 days I did.
Eveything looked exactly like the photo. The house is great and the area is very peaceful. I loved it.
Probably one of the best places I have stayed at using airbnb.
