Comfortable master bedroom suite with a private entrance - not accessible to the rest of the home - set in a lovely garden on the Central Coast, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, where SLO County features beach, wineries & more. Self-check in & then relax in this peacefully serene setting.

Please - no animals! Cleaner is highly allergic to pet hair, dander, saliva & urine.

The space
BE SURE TO READ EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SPACE BEFORE BOOKING - In case your needs are different from what is available here.

*Please check the list of amenities offered here against what items you want to have available. There is no TV (let's take a break from that noise!) here. You can still stay in touch with the world via the WiFi, your phone, laptop, etc.

*The master bedroom suite features a queen-size bed with a Serta memory foam topper, a private bathroom with shower, two comfortable reading chairs, an antique hutch/desk stocked with interesting books that can service as a work space - all in a peaceful garden setting for your get-away-from-home.

* I live in this house. I do my best to not make any unnecessary noise so that I don't bother you. You may not realize that walls in residential houses are not as soundproof as in commercial hotel/motel/apartment buildings and don't completely muffle loud noises.

*WiFi - enter password in all lower case letters. Download speed = 67.00 mbps, upload speed = 5.65 mbps.

*Recently added for your comfort: ASTI Sound of Sleep machine - something new to try in case you find it hard to fall asleep in a new setting; a "fireplace" heater that can make it toasty in those few cold months - or set it to "virtual flame" only for a cosy evening by the "fire" - please read the information card before using it.

*NOT 420 friendly! NO SMOKING OF ANY KIND IS ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THIS PROPERTY. That includes marijuana (medical or otherwise), dabbing, tobacco, vaping, e-cigarettes, pipes, cigars, etc. You will be asked to leave if you fail to abide by this prohibition. No refund will be given.

*Finally, I no longer offer water in one-use plastic bottles. I provide a gallon of purified drinking water in a dispenser and paper cups.

Where you’ll be

Arroyo Grande, California, United States

This is a single family residential zoned area. It does not abut a commercially zoned area, like the main street in town, Grande Avenue, with stores, shops, restaurants, etc. However, Grande Avenue is just minutes away: Starbucks, Chipotle, Five Guys Burgers & Fries, Ember, Figueroa Mountain Brew, Mason and more.

You'll find many web sites listing the wonderful restaurants, wineries, entertainment venues around San Luis Obispo county. Trip Advisor lists over 50 restaurants in Arroyo Grande, and there are many more in the neighboring areas of Grover Beach, Pismo Beach, Avila Beach, San Luis Obispo, etc. Some great places are just 6 minutes east on Grand Avenue in the Arroyo Grande Village area. I've saved the recent "Best of" section of the local paper with its winners for you.

See a show at the Clark Theater or Cal Poly's Spano's Theater. Ride ATVs at the Oceano Dunes, or go fishing or surfing at the beaches nearby. Follow the trail of wineries throughout SLO county or hike a trail on Madonna Mountain. Have lunch in Morro Bay and go to the Natural History Museum. Shop in downtown SLO and take in a local Farmer's Market. The SLO Farmers' Market on Thursday night is the best around! There's lots more to do in addition to these suggestions. And yes, you'll need to drive there, take an Uber or other transportation services.

I've been building my garden up since 2000 when a flat backyard lawn was all there was here. Every year, especially these drought ones, there is a new project to do in the garden. The garden has become a nice quiet place to relax. Otherwise, I work during the week as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at a local high school. On weekends, holidays and school breaks I stay busy so I'm a hands-off host. Come here to relax or partake of what's in SLO County in the way of wineries, the beach, etc. Get out there and have fun!

During your stay

*PLEASE PRINT OUT and/or READ your ITINERARY, as it has the information you'll need for a smooth arrival. Your itinerary gives you the HOUSE MANUAL (different than the House Rules which are seen by those who haven't booked yet) with info on address, where to park, your private entrance, check-in after 4:00 pm, etc.

*Your space is your own, don't expect to see much of me, as I have obligations elsewhere every day of the week. I'm a hands-off host with two jobs and I am not always free to answer my phone.

Messages through the Airbnb application are the best ways to reach me. I will not answer a phone call that my phone doesn't have on my list of contacts.

*Check in is anytime AFTER 4:00 p.m. Self check-in allows you to arrive at your convenience after 4:00 p.m. at your private entrance, whether I'm home or not. I would appreciate a message from you informing me your approximate arrival time so that I know when to expect you.

*Coming in after sunset? Not to worry: let me know and I'll have the door unlocked, the key on the sink counter and lights inside and on your porch for you.

*Wonder where to eat? I've collected menus from local places, as well as the local paper's "Best of" section with the winners of all kinds of categories in it. Check my Guidebook for restaurant suggestions.
