Overall Guest Satisfaction

  • Norman and Tanja were great hosts. They provided a comfortable room and bathroom, breakfast options and a list of local places to eat at. It was great stay. Their apartment is also located in a safe neighborhood and is easily accessible from the Tube. I would highly recommend staying with them.

  • All the positive reviews are completely true. The apartment, the bedroom and private bathroom are nice, cosy and clean, in a nice carpeted floor building, the neighborhood is really central and perfectly safe, and Tanja is absolutely adorable ! We had a wonderful week. A very very good airbnb experience. We hope we can come back some time !

  • Our stay with Norman and Tanja couldn't have been better. They are such open, interesting and welcoming people. The location was perfect. We found many great cafe's and the best Whole Foods I've ever seen all a short walk from their home. It was easy to use the tube and get to all the wonderful things that London has to offer.
    The room was comfortable and
immaculately clean. We highly recommend them.

  • Staying with Tanja and Norman was a wonderful experience. Their flat is easily accessible through nearby tube stations (e.g. from Liverpool Street Station to Kensington High Street takes about 35 min), buses are also just around the corner. Various supermarkets can be found within 1-5 min walking distance, so are department stores, cafés and parks.
As for the flat itself, it is exactly like described. The room is fashionably arranged, tremendously neat, has enough space to store luggage and to make yourself comfortable. Tanja provided umbrellas, a hairdryer and a selection of travel guides as well as other useful tips to get around. She has also personal recommendations where to go to and was always very helpful. The extra bathroom is a real asset. The kitchen is small but functional, and best of all, the coffee maker can be used at all times (or if you care for tea). The breakfast table was nicely set in the morning, offering fruits, cereals and muesli, tea and coffee.
To sum up, throughout the entire airbnb experience I had an easy time to communicate with Tanja, her answers were prompt and precise, I immediately had the impression to have found a well-organized, super friendly and trustworthy host. Upon meeting her this impression was confirmed. I absolutely recommend to stay with Tanja and Norman if you have the chance.

  • Everything was really perfect! Tanja & Norman are great hosts and they give you right from the beginning the feeling of visting friends. The flat is in a very nice area of London in a beautiful, clean building next to Kensington High Street. The room is also very nice, comfortable, quiet and bright with a nice few over Kensington (on a sunny day you can open the window and have a sun bath in your bed ;-). The guests have their own bathroom and in the morning breakfast is waiting with tee/coffee, cereals and fresh fruits. I stayed there together with my Mum and we had such a beautiful time. Everything you need is around the corner (park, cinema, shopping, nice restaurants and bars,...). I can higly recommend this place and over all Tanja & Norman. Next time in London I already know where to stay! Thank you again - all the best and see you soon! Katrin

  • My stay at Tanja´s and Norman´s place was a most pleasant experience, although much too short! The room was warm with a very comfortable bed and matress, which I appreciated after a very long day with sightseeing and walking around. It was big enough to house me and all my books spread everywhere!! It´s so quiet, no traffic or other noise to disturb your slumber. Tanja is such a warm and caring person and very interesting to talk to, willing to help in any way. She made me feel very welcome and I enjoyed her company. I felt very much at home, and it was comforting to enjoy a hot cup of tea and toast and put my feet up (literally!) at the end of a grueling day. The living room has a wonderfully comfortable sofa with some cushions to sink into - a true delight! The apartment is situated in a quiet residential area and offers a safe environment. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you´d need on your stay. The bathroom is clean and amply. Underground and shops, cafe-bars are just a few minutes walk. There is a TV in the living room, for those who would be lost without it. I personally didn´t have time! Highly recommended and wouldn´t hesitate to stay at Tanja´s and Norman´s place again. Tanja is very attentive and dealt with all communication and queries in record time. A gracious hostess. She gave me a very good and exact direction to her place and even there I found tons of information for London and the neighborhood! Like always, the people make a city trip just perfect! Felt like staying with family! Thank you very much and hope to see you again!

  • This was my second time I stayed with Tanja and Norman. Again, they are very helpful in advising me on how to get around London. When I needed specific directions, Tanja helped me to find everything. My bedroom was cozy and clean and the breakfast with fresh fruits and the view over Kensington is amazing. The next time I visit London, I plan to stay with them again!

  • Tanja is an amazing host. My only regret is that I couldn't stay with her and her husband longer. You have to sit down and have a chat with her, and with Norman if he is around. She´s one of the kindest people and has truly fascinating stories. Aside from that their home was warm and welcoming. She even took the time to sit and write down the places to go and see in London. The apartment is well located and in a safe area. We were able to walk to all Central London locations but it is close to transit options as well. I would certainly stay with Tanja again and recommend her as a great host. This message can't capture her charm and wit, so go see for yourself.

  • Most horrible experience ever. When we arrived in London we had to make a special trip to a gambling casino to pick up the key. When we finally arrived, there was no heat, no hot water for a shower and hairs in the dirty desserts. The mattress was not fit for a prison cell and our hosts were upset that we used the kitchen for coffee and toast. They claimed to have a set of rules which were not written anywhere. When we complained, they insisted we leave on a cold rainy windy afternoon during a transit strike. Norman and Tanja were Terribly rude and left us wondering whether to ever trust airbnb again. During our shirt stay they had living in fear in the event we accidentally used some of their shampoo. Our history,Norman, made us vet uneasy when he explained he was a professional gambler by trade. There was no place to secure our money and valuables and no way we wanted by near a person who gambles for a living.

    Response from Norman & Tanja:

After one year of fantastic guests and experiences via airbnb, we finally had our first bad one. Whereas "bad" seems like a compliment.
Unfortunately Barry and Anna are not made for this kind of travelling. We are very tolerant, but sniffling in our private bedroom, using my wifes make-up, lipstick and mascara, was too much. You should always respect each others privacy. They even seemed to be confused, that it was not allowed to eat all our food out of the fridge. It was really hard to have a normal conversation with them, as they were extremely drunk in the evening.
We kindly asked them to leave our apartment the next day, including a refund for the last night. They had all the time till 3pm to book a new hotel.
Unfortunately their review about us is full of lies now, as they try to give us a hard time, we guess.

Airbnb believes in the freedom of speech, even if this isn´t the truth. So there is nothing we can do. I hope that all possible future guests will read our other consistently positive reviews to get a real perception, of how our guestroon really is. And be sure - it´s not a prison cell :-)
