The Space

##Amazing Location##
This is a newly reformed, pristine private apartment at the top of the Mark City shopping center in Shibuya, only a three minute walk from the airport bus and 5 minutes to Shibuya Station. Professionally cleaned after each guest with high quality dry cleaned linens.

##Please request which option you would like upon booking as the cleaning company will prepare the room for your stay.##
This studio apartment will accommodate the following groups:
A - 1 couple or single guest - semi-double bed.
B - 2 couples - 1 couple bed / 2nd couple sofa bed.
C - 3 single adults - 1 bed / 1 sofa bed / 1 futon.
D - 4 adults - 2 bed / 1 sofa bed / 1 futon.
E - 5 guests - 1 couple bed / 2 sofa bed / 1 futon.

##Amenities Provided##
* Hotel professionally cleaned linens and towels
* Balcony with city view
* Free Mobile WIFI
* 40" LED TV
* Washlet-style toilet
* Separate bathing room
* laundry machine
* full closet
* standing fan
* air conditioning
* hair dryer, clothes iron (on request)

The apartment is in the swank Dogenzaka area, with countless eateries, clubs, karaoke, bars, entertainment, and shopping. It is the best of both worlds in the sense that the apartment is at the top of the hill looking down on the hussle and bussle, and being on the top floor you are literally above it all. Take the elevator down, walk 30 seconds and you are in the midst of it yourself as well.
Yoyogi Park is a short walk away, with the famous Meji-jingu Shrine. There are typically Japanese traditional weddings held at the shrine every weekend. Harajuku is also a short train ride or walk away.

##Apartment Safety##
The apartment has been completely renovated and is in a reinforced concrete building, safe from earthquakes. Japan is extremely safe, so I can nearly guarantee you will experience no problems with safety.

##Getting Around##
-Shibuya 5 min walk to the station for trains or buses. Taxis on every corner near the apartment. (Best shopping, restaurants, clubs, etc.)
-Harajuku 2 min train or 15min walk (A must see for Japanese culture, alternative shopping and people. Next to Yoyogi Park)
-Shinjuku 6 min train (Busiest station in the world)
-Roppongi 10 min train (Night life near Tokyo Tower)
-Ikebukuro 25 min train (Shopping)
-Akihabara 27 min train (Electronic and Anime Central)

##Recommendations or Guidance##
Travel books and guides are in the apartment for you to use. I have lived in Tokyo for 4 years and can help recommend what sights to see in Tokyo. I also love eating out and can give some great guidance about where to go out for a nice dinner and have a good time.

##Airport Limousine Bus##
I would always recommend taking the airport limousine, as it is the easiest and least amount of stress in getting to Tokyo.
**NOTE** I have provided bus details in the directions section, but please make sure to get off at "Excel Hotel Tokyu" at "Mark City" in Shibuya.

##Tokyo Tour Guides##
After you book and airbnb allows us to share contact and web information, we are happy to refer you to free tour guide services available to travelers.

##Phones or Bike Rental##
I have 3 phones available for rent during your stay for 500 yen a day. These phones allow you to receive all incoming calls for free. You can also call anyone in Japan for free if you keep it under 10 minutes. I can give you more details on the phones if requested.

##Money Withdrawal##
Many banks do not accept international credit cards in Japan. You will either need to use Citibank or a 711 to make a withdrawal. Both of these businesses are a few blocks from the apartment. Also, please contact your bank in advance to inform them you are traveling to prevent a lock on your card when you use it.

##Goal##
My goal is for you to enjoy your stay in my apartment and Tokyo. Please do not hesitate to ask me for anything you may need or suggestions for making your stay easier and more comfortable.

I hope to see you in Tokyo soon!

  • The apartment was great! very clean and well equipped. Nice view. Location was great. You'll hear the night life below, but it's not bad for a city apt. In the afternoon's it's *very* quiet since the apt isn't facing the main streets, so have a little siesta and go out late! :) Even if you aren't the partying type, Tokyo is quite safe and beautiful to explore at night. Having the mifi adapter in tokyo is a *massive* bonus if you aren't renting your own, and gets great reception/performance around Tokyo. When you tire of the crowds you'll be surprised to find that all you have to do is walk a different direction and you'll find quiet neighborhoods in the middle of a bustling city, it's quite amazing.

    The complaints I see in a couple other reviews are due to (significant) unfamiliarity with Tokyo/Japanese living, not with the apartment. It's actually a great apt in a perfect area and I highly suggest giving it a go - it will give you a greater appreciation for the culture and how people live in an incredible megacity like Tokyo. One unexpected surprise for me - I'm a very tall guy and japanese bathtubs are very short - but they are also so deep that I can actually soak my whole body in them better than many tubs in the west! Great after a long day of walking.

    Side note on something I haven't seen a comment on: like most Japanese accommodations, "real bed" still means a rather hard mattress, but I noticed the additional futons provided are nice thick memory foam type futons rather than the more traditional pads, so you could probably ask for linens for that instead if you are interested, or if that is a concern because of back/hip issues.

    Personal tip, I found the boulangerie in the mall as you walk towards shibuya station was a great alternative for quick breakfast on the way to morning destinations. :)

  • VERY close to Shibuya crossing. Great location. Would recommend this place for couples looking for quick access to the city center.

    We love how close the apartment is to Shibuya Crossing too Andrew! There are so many things to do in the area so we're delighted to know you had a great time!

  • Very well located, cozy and everything that you need in order to explore Tokyo a few minutes away from Shibuya station and all the shops! We were slightly confused on finding the right building but everything went very smoothly eventually. The wifi was working well and we used it outdoors too. There were umbrellas too which were handy. The apartment is good for two people but I would not recommend more than two.

The apartment is comfortable, has useful facilities (much needed washing machine during the long trip) and in a very convenient location (right next to Shibuya station). Thank you for hosting us!

  • Could not be more happy with the apartment and the hosts D and J! The apartment was extremely close to Shibuya station and even closer to mark city. Numerous Restaurants Bars and shops were all only a short walk away. The apartment was warm and cosy and everything worked as expected and D and J were very friendly and helpful. Had a fantastic time whilst staying in this apartment!

  • the location is described as "swank" But after I booked the place, I read a few tour books that mentioned the love hotels in the area. Even with directions and pictures, finding the apt is a bit of a challenge. It is very conveniently located near the Shibuya station. This is our 3rd of 3 different AIRBNBs during our Japan trip, and probably our least favorite. This place lacked any personal touch --as the apartment was freezing cold and took forever to heat up despite long day of traveling to arrive at the apt. I would definitely warn anyone considering this place in the winter as the heater takes forever to kick in and the washer is located outside without a proper means to drying the clothes.

    Response from ✈Dee & Jay✈:

    We are very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay Michelle. We take this very seriously so we would like to address your concerns below.

    1. As all of our other guest reviews state, the location of the apartment is one of the best in Tokyo. The apartment is right next to Shibuya Station, which is one of the most sought after real estate markets in the world. Right next to the apartment there are hundreds of delicious restaurants, trendy bars, high-end retail shops, and some love hotels. Love hotels are an accepted part of Japanese society since so many people live at home until marriage. They are clean and safe (and very expensive at that!) so describing the area as anything but 'swank' simply because there are love motels in the vicinity of the apartment is simply a reflection of being culturally biased.

    2. We are sorry that finding the apt was 'a bit of a challenge' as you put it. We worked hard and long to make quality directions with maps, pictures, and step-by-step directions, but we will certainly take a look at them again to see if there is anything we can do to make them even clearer for our future guests.

    3. We are not sure why the heater "took forever to heat up" as you say. We suspect you had the heater on an incorrect setting, so if you had contacted us at any point during your stay, we would have come over to the apartment immediately to help out. We are always available to help out our guest and we take great pride in doing so.

    4. Because space is at such a premium in Tokyo, the washer is on the apartment balcony (similar to nearly every other Shibuya apartment). We provide hangers for our guests to hang their clothes (similar to every other Shibuya apartment) so again, stating that "the washer is located outside without a proper means to drying the clothes" is another sign of not adapting to the Tokyo lifestyle.

    To summarize, traveling to Tokyo is an exciting new cultural experience for the majority of our guests, and we take great pride in providing a wonderful service for our guests. Along those lines though, communication is a two-way street, so if there ever is an issue at one of the apartments, we would appreciate our guests informing us so that we can fix the situation right away. We truly hope you do a better job of communicating with your hosts next time you stay at an Airbnb apartment.

  • Great apartment in terrific location. Found it without too much trouble with the detail instructions that Dee + Jay sent. Plenty of room for two single people. Enjoyed the view - especially watching the snow fall over the streets below. Quite despite the busy area. Really handy being so close to the station, resturants 7/11 etc Portable wifi made getting around Tokyo easy. We had no need to contact Devin when we were there but he responded quickly to emails sent before we stayed. All good!

  • This apartment is in a great location in Shibuya not far from the main crossing and Shibuya station.

    It had everything we needed as a young couple spending all day out exploring Tokyo.

    Devin was very helpful and quickly answered any questions that we had prior to and during our stay.

    Cheers!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Devin's apartment. View was amazing! Surprised how quiet the apartment was considering it was right near Shibuya station and all the happening spots in the area. We loved having the wifi - it definitely saved us a number times while navigating the streets of Tokyo. We knew it was going to be cold but the apartment was rather chilly even with the heat on; probably because of all the windows. Regardless, would definitely stay here again!

About
Hey everyone - ようこそ! Thanks for checking out our page! We are both long-term Tokyo hosts who decided to work together to offer our guests the best Tokyo experience available on Airbnb. Tokyo is the worlds most populous metropolis, yet our apartments are designed to make you feel like you never left the comfort of your own home. Whether you are looking to stay in the pulsating urban excitement that Tokyo is synonymous for (Shibuya and Ebisu) or you are more interested in a charming, hip and local neighborhood breeming with trendy vintage shops, delicious restaurants, and cosy coffeebars (Shimokitazawa), we have got you covered. I (Dee) have been in Japan for over 5 years now and currently in the midst of studying for an MBA. When I have free time, I like spending it in Shibuya and Ebisu, two of my favorite neighborhoods in Tokyo. As soon as you set foot in either location, you can’t help but absorb the energy of the city and realize why everyone owes it to themselves to visit Tokyo at least once in their lives! Jay: https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/1759480 I (Jay) am a native of California who has been living for nearly ten years in Japan. I enjoy exercising, playing sports, studying new languages, and experiencing different cultures. I love meeting new people and making new friends, so what better way to go about this than by serving as a host on Airbnb in what I feel is the greatest city in the world-Tokyo! In my free-time I love spending it in the ridiculously cool and hip neighborhood of Shimokitazawa - a quick 4 minute train ride from the metropolis of Shibuya. If you are looking for Shibuya and Ebisu listings, you have come to the right place. I have over 10 properties that are all located just minutes from each of the stations. Supplied with all of the amenities you will need during your visit. If you are looking for Shimokitazawa apartments, please check out our other profile (J & D) to see all of the other great apartments we have available! Thanks again for looking. Feel free to drop us a message at anytime with any Tokyo related questions you may have. We’re always happy to help out. ☺ Kampai! ☺ Life motto is “Do not take the road everyone else takes, for it will only get you stuck in traffic.”
