  • Our decision to book this apartment was influenced by the many very positive reviews. Well... now we add another one.

Booking was a smooth experience, and Julie was always quick to respond during that phase.

When we arrived at Fiumicino Airport, we took the regional train FL-1 to Trastevere station, then changed to Tram 8 which brought us to Piazza Sonnino from where we walked the rest. (We traveled with light luggage only.) Sarah gave us a hearty welcome and showed us the apartment, which indeed was big enough for the four of us. (The photos made us wonder whether the apartment is perhaps more suitable for two or three persons, but our doubts were completely unjustified.)

And now, after returning home, we can safely say that we made the right choice. The apartment is really lovely, as you can already see on the photos.
The kitchen is complete, with stove, dishwasher, and a small fridge. The bathroom, too, has everything you need. The bed is "only" a sofa bed, but once folded out it is really as comfortable as a normal bed.
And as the apartment is located at the edge of Trastevere, it is ideal for both exploring Rome at day as well as for going out for dinner at night. (Trastevere is known for its high density and quality of restaurants. We tried a few and they were all very good - no comparison to the overpriced tourist food we got near the Colosseum.)

Indeed there is nothing to complain about. There are only a few very minor things you might want to be aware of: The fridge is quite small, and the birds are quite loud in the morning. So plan your cocking accordingly, and keep the windows closed at night unless you plan to rise early :)

But as said, this is nothing serious and does not diminish the great experience that we had during our stay. We really consider ourselves lucky to have found this apartment in this rather central place of Rome.

    Thank you Julie and Sarah.

We only can highly recommend this apartment.

  • We loved working with Julie- she was quick to respond, very helpful in leaving advice on the area, where to eat, and how to get around. She arranged an affordable taxi for us from the airport and was very flexible in working with our schedules. We were able to meet her mother onsite that day and it was very helpful to be shown around and given more advice on the area. Trastevere was honestly our favorite neighborhood in all of Rome and we loved staying there- it felt like such a local area with the best restaurants and streets to wander and get lost in. The apartment was perfect for our needs- very clean and had anything you would need. We fit 4 comfortably and the bathroom was big enough for European standards! It had some great charm. We would love to stay here again when we get back to Rome!

  • And another of Air BnB gems !
We have had an very nice stay at Julie's home, and it was exactly what we were looking for, going in Rome for the first time.
The flat is perfectly located to discover Rome by foot and enjoy the feeling of being a "local". It brings a lot of authentocity to the Rome experience, and Julie adds to it by sending you her personal Rome guide, filled with very good adresses.
Finally, evrything was clean and looked even better than on the picture. We were checked out by Julie's mom who was very nice and helpfull. Small tip : ask to view the rooftop ;-)

  • We had a fantastic time staying at Julie's! We were greeted by her parents, who are just the sweetest people. They made sure we had everything we needed and gave some good tips for our stay. Pauline, Julie's mom, also was kind enough to accommodate our late check-out times.

The flat was extremely clean and tidy, everything worked perfectly, towels were soft, beds were comfy, we had everything we needed in the kitchen.

Da Marcello is in the perfect location in Rome, in a walking distance from all the sights, but away from the touristy hustle and bustle. It's a lovely neighbourhood, very lively, there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area (I would recommend Cornucopea - not the cheapest, but their seafood dishes are just exquisite).

Look no further - I would definitely recommend staying at Julie's. It's cosy, homely, lovely - just a perfect pied a terre for an amazing holiday.

  • I've recently stayed at Julie's nice place Da Marchello with two oher girls and would love to recommend the place to everybody who's looking for a nice, really authentic and very Roman pied–à–terre in the eternal city. Though the appartment is not huge, the space is enough for three individual travelers or two couples and a child.
The location is absolutely awesome, yet it seems a bit too noisy during the night, 'cause of the Da Enzo place, which is extremely popular with locals. We didn't feel it like a drawback, on the contrary, it was a nice experience brigdes far more pleasant than staying in the hotels with same kind of noises.
Julie is a very gentle, helpful and understanding host who cares about you even if she is far from the place. I wish we had met her in person, however she was always ready to answer any questions and help us.
The place is well equipped with maps, guide-books etc, so ypu don't need to take your own stuff.
I'd rather stay at Julie's when in Rome. Hope, the place will be available.

  • We stayed with 2 for 3 nights in this nice appartment. Good location, close to the major tourist sites but in a different local atmosphere. Julie was very responsive in surporting the planning of our trip and also flexible in the arrival en departing arrangements (we could leave our luggage the last day). Julie's mother gave us a very warm personal welcome when we arrived. I real plus was the small travel guide with local tips and the list of advised wining and dining places.
This was our 1st airbnb experience and for sure a good one.

  • Julie's mum Paule gave us a warm welcome at Da Marcello, so we immediately felt at home. The lovely appartment is in a beatiful old house in the perfect area in Trastevere, very central but not crowded. We explored Rome by foot with our two kids, most sights in a walking distance.
Paule had good ideas and answers to all our questions, thank you so much.
The appartment has everything we needed, it was clean and the internet worked really fast.
We spent a week and had a great time.
    Grazie, Julie & Paule

My international background and education luckily led to the creation of unusual bonds with people from all over the globe. For this, I was often granted the outstanding opportunity to "feel home away from home" and - just like Miss Gilbert - traveling soon turned out to be "the great true love of my life..." When I travel, I want to go beyond the hotel chains or standard guidebooks. I want to feel what the internet is unable to transmit. For a few days, I want to read the reality of a city and its inhabitants; live how they live, go where they go, eat what they eat, drink what they drink...To me, that is what adds meaning to traveling, thus it is the meaning I like to add to those who travel!
