The Space

Same classic building, same great downtown location! Just two blocks to Paseo Nuevo, Santa Barbara's colorful shopping mall and State Street, this apartment is located close to all the great food (farmers market, Silvergreens and a brand new Eureka Burger! - across from Silvergreens :) and entertainment Santa Barbara has to offer...on foot! It is a location where you can come without a car or rent one 4 blocks from Enterprise if needed. One block to the city bus stop, hop the $.50 electric trolley, only 8 blocks to Stern's Wharf, the Santa Barbara Harbor and all the beautiful beaches that stretch our coastline (6 blocks from the train station).

The apartment is one in a residential four-plex in a quiet and friendly neighborhood. It has hardwood floors and is decorated with modern decor to create a cozy and clean bright space for your stay. We do have a two night stay requirement at this apartment, max. 2 guests, queen bed only (no couch sleeping-quiet hours 10pm - 7am).

Comfortable with a living room, bedroom, kitchen with full oven (pots, pans, coffee, tea, oil & vinegar, S&P and sugar) and full bathroom, we offer wi-fi for your wireless device and a docking station for your Mp3 player, books and games - NO TV. Iron and board are in the closet, hairdryer in the bathroom. Coin laundry is on site and we have a parking pass in the unit to put on your dash when you arrive and ample on-street parking is available in-front of the apartment. The price includes a 12% city bed tax** and there is minimal cleaning fee. Please read the house manual when you arrive to help us both have a great rental experience.

Our family loves to travel and we have hosted students from all over the world in our home here in Santa Barbara. We have managed property for 20 years, done home exchange and vacation rented our own home when we travel. My husband is Canadian and we met doing what we love, being active and traveling! We look forward to welcoming you and recommending the best of the best adventures here in the beautiful California central (website hidden)- If you see a one day vacancy and you only need one night, don't hesitate to contact me about booking it.

pss- The couches in this apartment have been in the same room as dogs and cats before. They are extremely clean, but if someone is super allergic it my effect their stay.

psss- The walls (ceiling) are thin at this property. If you are a light sleeper or want to sleep in, bring ear plugs. Be forewarned that it's an old building! 99% of the time the place is silent from 10 pm to 7am. Sweet dreams!

**The 12% Transient Occupancy Tax which we pay to the City of Santa Barbara to support their clean creeks programs and other city operations and infrastructure.

PLANNING TIPS: Check my guidebook (byellow button above rental price). • This was my second stay at one of Cathy's property's and I have had another great experience! I was able to meet Cathy this time and she was lovely. Cathy provided great communication throughout the whole process and check in and check out was easy. This apartment is in the best location for exploring Santa Barbara and is a great base that will provide you with everything you will need! I definitely recommend and I hope to stay again next time I am in town!

  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay here so much! We picked this cozy little apartment because it was within walking distance of the reception venue for a wedding we were attending. What we didn't know is that it was close to everything! Cathy is a wonderful and gracious host - we arrived a bit early before check in, and she was there making sure everything was set for our arrival. The space was comfortable and well-lit with natural light, and we had all the basic amenities we could ask for. I especially enjoyed the tow quiet mornings I had reading in the living room and on the front porch. My husband and I definitely would like to return to Cathy's property to enjoy more of Santa Barbara in the future!

  • This was a perfect spot for us. The apartment is clean, pleasant and comfortable, and the location wonderful. The neighborhood is friendly. We walked everywhere, didn't need the car at all. Cathy is a great host; she provided lots of good info and everything we needed on hand. Lots of nice details. Thanks!

  • So happy to have a place to call "home" while visiting Santa Barbara for 2 weeks. The apartment is comfy, clean, inviting and located within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and convenient for beach trips. Although we did not meet Cathy, we communicated easily and thank her for her attention to detail. Second year was again a great experience! We'll be back!

  • Everything met or exceeded our expectations. Just as advertised, it was cozy and comfortable and located in a quiet residential neighborhood, just a few blocks from State Street and the heart of downtown. We walked to dinner both nights, which was great. The unit was very well-equipped and everything was in good working order.

We were there for our niece's graduation and most of our weekend was already planned, so we didn't need to search for restaurants or things to do. But for those who are unfamiliar with the area, there's a good collection of local maps, menus, and things to do while in Santa Barbara.

This was our first AirBnB experience and if all AirBnB hosts are as friendly and responsive as Cathy, then I'll definitely look for AirBnB properties when we travel to other areas. If Cathy's De La Guerra property is still available the next time we come to Santa Barbara, this is definitely where we'll stay!

  • Communication with Cathy was clear and very helpful. Easy and straightforward instructions per key, directions, check-in & check-out. Parking is tricky, just pay close attention to the signs about street cleaning; there is very inexpensive parking lot at the Paseo Nuevo mall a few blocks away if you need extra time. The apartment is very adorable, clean, well stocked and close (walking distance!) to restaurants, shops, museums, movies, parks and coffee. Cathy made a great restaurant recommendation. I'd be happy to stay here again sometime.

  • Excellent host and apartment. Perfect location to stroll around Santa Barbara. Very cute apartment and comfortable accommodations. Cathy made the stay very easy -- with directions prior to arrival and lots of helpful hints around the apartment. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip!

  • I was up in Santa Barbara for work for two nights and found this place was perfect. Quiet comfy. And a perfect location. Just a short walk to everything. Thank you again

  • This apartment was a wonderful base for our stay in Santa Barbara. It is located literally 3 blocks from Paseo Nuevo, the shopping center that is at the heart of downtown, but in a quiet neighborhood where there are not hordes of people constantly walking by.

Cathy runs a very professional operation. The check-in process was a breeze with key in a coded lockbox and helpful notes in the house. You literally have the whole apartment to yourself. The living room with its 2 cozy couches, interesting books and magazines, was a great place to unwind after a busy day of hiking and sightseeing. The bathroom was indeed spotless, and I was a big fan of the rain shower.

Cathy's husband had to stop by briefly during our stay to turn off the pilot light for the heater (its was definitely summer weather!), but it was very non-obtrusive, and he was helpful and nice.

I would stay here again next time I come to SB!
