A clean, quiet, neighborhood cottage in North Portland, close to public transportation, restaurants, parks, and markets.

The Space

Our comfortable and private one bedroom cottage is a perfect place for your Portland visit. It has one bed plus a sleeper sofa, sleeping up to 4. There is a full kitchen and a private, small bathroom. High-quality coffee beans await you in the freezer.

(Note: we used to provide freshly-baked cookies, but had to stop. Noah is a type 1 diabetic who couldn't handle having the cookie dough and cookies around all the time. For those interested, Amy's family chocolate cookie recipe is provided in the "house manual" for guests who book a stay).

The cottage is conveniently located in North Portland close to the Alberta and Mississippi Districts, with many nearby restaurants, breweries, wine bars, shops and clubs. There is ready access to the airport and public transportation, parks, art galleries, natural foods grocery stores, farmers' markets, the Rose Garden, and other amenities. Once you've made a reservation you'll receive private instructions that include a (website hidden) map with places of interest nearby.

The cottage is located within easy reach of roadways that will take you east to the Cascade Mountains for winter fun, or west to the gorgeous Oregon Coast. Or cozy up inside with a good book, cook your favorite meals in the kitchen, and watch movies on the Roku Box and TV.

Dogs are welcome and there is on-site parking.

The cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood and you'll feel like you're a real Portlandian.

  • We loved our stay in Portland! The backyard cottage was neat and tidy, and it had everything we needed. The hosts were very responsive whenever we had questions before and during our stay, which we really appreciated. Though the cottage wasn't really walk-able from most of the places we wanted to go, everything was a short drive away and we rarely encountered traffic. The neighborhood was cute and quiet with a few beautiful parks - perfect for walking our dog!

  • I stayed in Noah's cottage for 26 wonderful days! It was exactly as depicted and extremely comfortable. I slept so well....was it the bed, the quiet neighborhood, the great linens? Must have been the whole package! I would definitely stay again-

  • The backyard cottage was clean, bright, and comfortable. Location was perfect for visiting with family and accessing bus transportation. We were unable to access the internet provided by the backyard cottage as the connection did not work.

  • This Cottage was perfect for our week long stay in Portland with our two medium sized dogs. So much more comfortable than a hotel room! Nice quiet neighborhood with a park only a couple of blocks away for us to take the pups. The internet access was great for my love who stayed in and worked while I was off at a dance intensive downtown. The drive to downtown was quick and easy every morning. Fifteen minutes tops. We were able to comfortably make our own meals here. Noah and Amy have thought of everything. Oh, and the bed was so super soft and comfortable! Javiers Taco shop is open 24hrs just a couple blocks away and if you like a good soak, I would strongly recommend Common Ground Wellness Center. Thank you Noah, Amy, Amanda, and Maela. We will think of you when we come back in the fall!

  • Wonderful! My husband and I spent a cozy month here visiting friends and family. It was just as portrayed in the description and photos... the perfect base for us.
It was clean and quiet. Amanda (next door) was a wonderful hostess, answering any questions and concerns we had. It was the perfect combination of having someone nearby, while also feeling like we had our private oasis.
We had pretty good internet access until the last week, when it suddenly failed. When we notified Amy and Noah about this, they were so kind and very quick to address it. We felt very cared for and almost didn't mind the inconvenience. To our knowledge, the problem has now been permanently fixed with direct wiring for a separate internet line for the cottage.
Noah and Amy have created a sweet little oasis that is clean, well-furnished, and beautifully decorated. We felt very at home in their cottage!
We will definitely stay here again when we return to Portland!!

  • Noah's cottage deserves the highest possible marks. It's situated in a quiet and comfortable back yard with easy and unobtrusive access. We also loved the neighborhood.

Our pug, Frances, was a happy guest. We were very pleased that she was welcome.

The furnishing were beautiful and the space was very clean. The kitchen is adequate and there was even coffee in the freezer. Our stay in the cottage made us feel at home. We even talked of asking to move in!

  • Our visit: Jan 17-19. 3 days 2 nights. 2 people from Vancouver BC

This place is awesome and we had a blast staying here. It's perfect size for couples and a small family of 3-4. It's cozy and felt like home with the heater on. The kitchen set up is perfect and you can cook while watching TV in the morning while making your coffee. Everything was cleaned and spotless when we entered the place. The house is only a 2-4 minute drive to the freeway and then its another 7-12 minutes drive into downtown with light or no traffic. Can take about 15-20 minutes to get into downtown with traffic. We loved the bed! It was cozy, soft, clean and warm at night!

However... We noticed a couple of ants in the morning after leaving a cup of coffee on the kitchen counter top. It 'wasn't' a big deal and quickly resolved the problem by removing the cup of coffee. My girlfriend hates bugs but she didn't mind it. So maybe Noah can look into this. We found it hilarious cuz theres a Ant poster ( artwork ) hanging beside the bed...

Another thing we noticed is when we entered the place it was freezing cold! We had to turn on the heater and probably took 2 hours before the place was nice and warm. Maybe turn on the heat before the guess checks in?

Besides the minor flaws, this place is perfect and we will come back again in the summer!

  • This cottage was perfect for my fiance and I's weekend trip to Portland. Located in north Portland it is within walking distance to some really nice brewpubs and restaurants and also close to the alberta arts and mississippi districts. The cottage had everything you could ask for comfy bed, clean towels and sheets, small but awesome kitchen, couch, and tv. I would definitely recommend this listing to friends and try to stay there again next time I visit Portland.

  • Lovely space! Chic decor that provided a warm and cozy place for us to land after our days exploring Portland. Sure friendly hosts that made our arrival and departure incredibly easy! A 10-15 minute walk from a delicious brewery and some interesting beer locations. A 5 minute walk for delicious Mexican food if you're hungry late at night. It took us about 12 minutes to walk to the train each day and from there, we were able to easily access the city. Thanks!
