The space

The 1,365 sq ft 3 bd/2.5 ba design comfortably accommodates up to five guests.

The living space, covered lanai, beach closet, and half bath are on the upper/entry level. The lower level of the home has three bedrooms; a queen Tempur-Pedic mattress on platform bed in master bedroom, a king bed in 2nd bedroom, a twin bed in office/study serving as a 3rd bedroom. Also downstairs are two full baths, another covered lanai, and laundry area with full size washer/dryer. A pack-n-play is available for use.

Kauai's weather is pleasantly warm year-round. Even in the coolest month of January, daytime highs average 78 F and the evening lows dip to 65 F. August is the warmest month with daytime highs averaging 85 F and cooling off to 75 F in the nighttime. The villa sits atop an ocean bluff allowing trade winds to flow through the home keeping it fresh, bright and comfortable. There are numerous louvered windows throughout, sliding glass doors, ceiling fans, and several area fans. The master and second bedrooms have A/C units for additional sleeping comfort if desired.

Consider the home your own private paradise! Seven days prior to your arrival, you will be given a key code for self check-in and check-out.

As our guest you will have access to all of the home's amenities including beach towels, snorkel gear, boogie boards, cooler bags, beach chairs, and sun umbrellas.

Conveniences include full size washer, dryer, iron, ironing board, hair dryers.

The home is equipped with HDTV, Time Warner cable, satellite radio, Wi-Fi, Streaming Blu-Ray Disc / DVD / CD Player, Bose sound system for your personal device, and a landline telephone with unlimited island, inter-island, and mainland calls.

Essential household supplies are provided including toilet and facial tissue, bath gel, trash bags, laundry and dish detergents.

Neighboring St. Regis Resort warmly welcomes our guests to their full service spa, cocktail lounge, beach-side grille, and premier restaurants. Pu'u Poa beach on Hanalei Bay, fronting the St. Regis, is public and may be accessed by resort elevator or the outdoor staircase along the property line between Hanalei Bay Villas and the hotel. You should know, the pool and fitness room are reserved for guests of the hotel only.

Interaction with guests

We live on the mainland and are, of course, available anytime by phone, text, or email. Our friendly, unobtrusive caretaker resides nearby readily available should anything in the home need attention during your stay. A guest welcome book has been assembled with general household information, recommended activities, area restaurants, Kauai guide books and maps for easy reference.

The neighborhood

Hanalei Bay Villas are located on the beautiful North Shore of Kaua'i in the resort community of Princeville next to the St Regis Resort. It is a five mile drive to the town of Hanalei.

The free-standing, individually owned villas are nestled along a ridge-line with impressive views of the Hanalei Mountains. Villa #29 also opens onto the shimmering blue Pacific with a scenic overlook just across the street. The natural surroundings are stunning and beyond beautiful.

There are three beaches within close walking distance. As with all Princeville beaches, you will need to hike down 200 feet from the bluff to reach the shore. A short and steep foot trail with makeshift ropes and railings leads to Kenomene beach which is ideal for basking on the warm golden sands or resting under the large shade trees. Also known as "Hideaways Beach" and "Pali Ke Kua", this 300' stretch of beach is divided by a rock outcropping and offers great snorkeling and coastal views. Pu'u Poa Beach on the eastern shore of Hanalei Bay is another beautiful sandy beach located in front of the St Regis and can be accessed by a staircase or resort elevator. You can rent paddle boards, and other surf apparatus from the St. Regis staff by the pool.

Within Princeville you will find other gems such as Queen’s Bath, Sea Lodge Beach, and Wyllie Beach. There is an 18 hole Maka'i golf course, a 9 hole Woods Course, community tennis courts, a full service spa, public park/playground, jogging path, and outdoor fitness circuit.

Two miles from the home is The Princeville Center offering a grocery store, gourmet wine market, convenience store, gas station, ATM/Bank, shave-ice stand, specialty boutiques, casual courtyard cafes, and full service restaurants. Princeville Adventure Ranch offers zip-lining, horseback riding, jungle/waterfall hikes and off road adventures.

Take a quick, five minute drive to Hanalei Town (or follow the foot trail around the eastern shore of the bay during low tide) to Hanalei Pier & Beach Pavilion. You can rent sea kayaks, boogie boards, surf boards, and stand-up paddle boards to play on the bay and river.

Getting around

A rental car is recommended. Free, assigned, off street parking is provided.

The home is centrally located on Kauai's pristine North Shore. Many gems are located within the community and within walking distance of the home. All other North Shore attractions are within twelve scenic miles of the home including Hanalei Town and beach park, NaPali coast trail-head, Kilauea lighthouse, 'anini beach, Tunnels beach, Ke'e beach, and many more sandy beaches and hiking trails to explore.

Lihue (LIH) airport is a 45-55 minute drive from Princeville.

Princeville is a county approved vacation destination and our privately owned home is in compliance with State of Hawaii Department of Taxation. The County of Kauai charges a 9.25% Transient Accommodation Tax and a 4% General Excise Tax. These TAXES ARE INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL RATE.

We thank you for being respectful of our friendly neighbors. The HOA has established quite times between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. and our guests are expected to abide by this courtesy.

It is a Hawaiian custom to remove shoes before entering homes. The course sand and red clay soils of the island are very damaging to the flooring. Shoes may be left neatly outside the front door or inside on the shoe rack.

Smoking is prohibited both inside the home and on lanai.
