Interaction with Guests
We live on the mainland and are, of course, available anytime by phone, text or email. We have assembled a Welcome Book with a list of recommended activities and restaurants, Kauai guide books and maps. Our friendly and unobtrusive caretaker resides nearby readily available should anything in the home need attention during your visit.
Located on the North Shore of Kaua'i in the community of Princeville, Hanalei Bay Villas neighbor the prestigious St Regis Resort. The freestanding, individually owned villas are nestled along a ridge-line capturing the views of the majestic Hanalei Mountains. Villa #29 also opens onto the blue Pacific with a scenic overlook just across the street. The surroundings are stunning and beyond beautiful.
There are three beaches within close walking distance. A short and steep hiking trail leads to Kenomene beach which is ideal for basking on the warm golden sands or resting under the large shade trees. Also known as "Hideaways Beach" or "Pali Ke Kua", this 300' stretch of beach, is divided by a rock outcropping and offers great snorkeling and coastal views. Pu'u Poa Beach on Hanalei Bay, is another beautiful sandy beach located in front of the St Regis Resort and can be accessed by a staircase or resort elevator.
Take a quick drive or follow the foot trail around the eastern shore of the bay during low tide to Hanalei Pier & Beach Pavilion. Here you can rent sea kayaks, boogie boards, surf boards, and stand-up paddle boards to play on the bay and Hanalei river.
Within the Princeville community you will also find gems such as Queen’s Bath, Sea Lodge Beach, Wyllie Beach. There is an 18 hole Maka'i golf course, the 9 hole Woods Course, community tennis courts, a full service spa, public park/playground, jogging path, and outdoor fitness circuit.
Two miles from the home is The Princeville Center offering a grocery store, convenience store, gas station, ATM, Bank, shave-ice stand, specialty boutiques, Princeville Wine Market, casual courtyard cafes, and full service restaurants.
A rental car is recommended for island exploring. We have found the best rental car rates on Hotwire about seven weeks prior to arrival. There is free, assigned, off-street parking provided for up to two vehicles.
The home is centrally located on the North Shore. Many gems are located within the community and within walking distance. All other North Shore attractions are within twelve miles of the home including Hanalei Town, NaPali trail-head, Kilauea lighthouse, Tunnels, Ke'e and many more beaches and trails to explore.
Lihue (LIH) airport is a 45-55 minute drive from Princeville.
Other Things to Note
Check-in time is after 3:00 p.m. Check-out is by 10:00 a.m. This allows ample time to properly prepare the home for our arriving guests. Should you wish to have an earlier check-in or later check-out, we recommend reserving an extra night so no other guests are scheduled to arrive/depart that day.
This is a county approved vacation destination in compliance with Hawaii Department of Taxation. The county of Kauai charges a 9.25% Transient Accommodation Tax and a 4% General Excise Tax. These fees are included in your rental rate.
Maximum five guests allowed in the home at any time.
Responsible party must be twenty-five years of age or older.
Many of our neighbors are full time residents. Noise should be moderate at all times. The HOA has established quite times between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. and guests are expected to abide by that courtesy.
No Smoking in home or on lanai.
Please, no shoes. It is a Hawaiian custom to remove shoes before entering homes. The course sand and red clay soils of the island are very damaging to the flooring. Shoes may be left neatly outside the front door or inside on the shoe rack.
Mahalo for your care and consideration!
House is in a great location with just a quick walk to beach albeit a steep walk and also to st regis resort. Great views of the mountains.
Donna was an excellent host. The property was nicely situated with beautiful ocean & jungle views. The unit was stocked with all the necessities we could bring with us. We would love to stay there again.
This is a beautiful, well maintained and equipped house in a great location with stunning views! The whole family loved our stay as we celebrated my mom's 60th birthday. Both Donna and Art were most helpful and welcoming. When we go back to Kauai, we will definitely try to stay there again.
Experience was great. Donna was very responsive and helpful. Home has a fantastic views and in a great location
Everything was perfect: location, house and the owners. They were always ready to help us with everything we needed. Me, my wife and my friends really enjoyed our trip in Kauaii and one of the main reasons was this house.
Donna and Art made us feel so welcome in there beautiful beachside home. The home was very comfortable for my husband, son (1 y.o) with plenty of space. Beds we're really comfy. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck overlooking the mountains, used the BBQ here for dinner one night which was great. The house is just a quick drive to shops too, or you could get the bus which they left instructions on how to. The house had a great Hawaiian vibe to its interior. The neighbourhood was nice n quiet, close to beaches you could snorkel, saw some turtles :) also across the road from a wave for the surfers. Very happy with this accommodation over all and would love to stay again! It was lovely :)
This place is one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen! The location of the house is just amazing. Just a few walking minutes away is the beautiful Hideaway beach, a perfect place to watch the sunset. Enjoy the awesome view from the lanai, it's just stunning. The house owners provided us with lots of useful information about the house and the surrounding. We appreciated that very much.
The house was very clean, spacious and nicely furnished. We hightly recommend to stay at Donnas' and Arts' house, it will be an unforgettable stay.
