We are friendly and communicative hosts. We are able to help you design your perfect stay in York including directions to places and highlighting the best attractions that you may want to visit. We are happy to give you some insights into the history of our ancient city and also point you to some of the better pubs and restaurants around.
Everything you need by way of fresh food, drink, great pubs and restaurants is on our doorstep and we are less than ten minutes walk to the city centre and all its attractions.
The location is quite good! Walking distance to both railway station and city centre. Nadia was very kind and helpful. The room was so beautiful and lovely. Also, the cat was amazing.
We have just returned home from a 2-week journey that began with two nights with Danny and Nadia. And what a wonderful way to begin! We were welcomed before we even rang the bell by Danny, who had seen us from the window. We were offered coffee and cake and sat at the kitchen table while Danny marked on our map the best restaurants and the important sites. We followed all his suggestions, from the Pig and Pastry (for breakfast and lunch) to Trembling Madness--a bar above a wine shop--and Brigantes (for dinner), the York Secrets walk (which took us to places we never would have found on our own, such as All Saints North Street, with three 15th-c. stained glass windows at eye level), and the Jorvik Centre (a very well-done introduction to the Viking period in York). Their house is in a quiet residential neighborhood within a comfortable walking distance of all the restaurants and sights of this marvelous city (don't miss York Minster, one of the great cultural monuments of Europe, and the Undercroft experience, which reveals the cathedral's amazing Roman and medieval past). The house is also walking distance from the train station--that walk takes you past some of the city's ancient walls. Our bedroom under the eaves was quiet, the bed very comfortable. It was quite dark at night, surprisingly so for us urban-dwellers, so on the second night we left the window shade partly open; since the window is a skylight, there was no concern about privacy. Although we shared the large, modern bath with the owners and at least one other guest, we never encountered anyone going or coming (except Scrappy the cat, of course, who mostly just observed us from his spot at the top of the stairs, where he could keep an eye both on the front door and on the second floor). I would like to add that at Pig and Pastry and at Trembling Madness you are likely to share a table, and you will probably meet memorable and friendly people from the neighborhood, which made us feel doubly happy to be there.
Fabulous stay at York, great hosts, amazing city and the cat is a genius!
Highly recommended not only because the room and house are clean and lovely but also for tips about places to go and experience. Priceless!
Thank you very much Nadia and Danny.
It is actually our first time to book a room via Airbnb and we are very lucky to meet Danny and Nadia, who offered us not only a lovely room but also useful trip tips.
Thanks and would recommend it to all of you!
Very friendly welcome and very comfortable room, right in the heart of York. A great one night stop over on our way up to Northumberland.
Danny was very friendly and welcoming, showing us around the house and providing wealth of information about York's attractions, restaurants and pubs. It was very helpful to get all the info and tips we needed from a local and he even marked it all out on a map for us. The room was lovely - bright, sunny and spacious and only a short 5-10 minute walk to all of York's historical attractions. The house even had a huge, friendly and loveable cat!
Great place in the city centre. Lovely nearby pubs. And an amazing, enormous, flirtatious, hypoallergenic cat! Can't recommend enough.
Absolutely lovely room, well decorated and comfortable. The place was clean and fresh. Would totally recommend staying at Danny and Nadia's place.
Danny and Nadia are a very nice couple ready to help you if needed. If you haven't fully planned your stay in York, don't worry - they will have a plenty of options for you depending on your preferences. The room is very cosy with a comfortable double bed. If you like, you may want to exceed its capacity to accommodate a third guest - Scrappy, a really lovely and friendly cat who considers himself as a real master of the house. By and large, we really our stay and would fully recommend it to anybody.
