The space
first- about us---

I am a psychologist from Philadelphia who discovered Bobs Lake quite accidentally, when my oldest son, who is now 41 was 4 years old. I had never seen anything so beautiful and our whole family has not missed a summer since. We rented for a decade at what was then Morters. When told we could no longer bring our dog, we bought a little swarth of land on a nearby island. I loved Morters so much that I had to be certain I could swim from there to the island , which I was able to do.

In 2006 we heard that Morters had been cut in half and half of it sold. When the remainder came up for sale, in 2010, Chuck Morter gave us a mortage to help us buy it. Fixing it up became a labor of love that has gone on now for 9 years. We renovated the cabins, built The Great House so that we could host weddings and retreats, and added new docks, a playground, hot tubs, and a fleet of boats to rent.

Our family comes every summer. My youngest son loves the island property and stays there for a week with his friends—he fell in love there to the woman who is now his wife, and his oldest son, almost 3, took his first steps in the living room. Over the years, we slowly built up the island amenities, - adding a guest cottage, adult tree house, basketball court and last summer—a hot tub.

Our entire family – now with 5 grandchildren, stay at the old Morters—now Bobs Lake Cottages & Escapes, for a week every summer—as do our doggies—we are very pet friendly.

If you have a boating license and rent for 3 nights, it comes with motorized fishing boat [which requires a $50 payment for initial tank of gas and a refundable $500 damage deposit due after booking should you decide to take the boat. ] You can upgrade to pontoon or speed boat. Go to bobs lake cottages and escapes to see available boats. You must arrive before dark.

The pagoda like post and beam main cottage has a spectacular view of the lake, wood burning stove, dishwasher, trash compactor, 2 refrigerators, ping pong table, gas grill, BASKETBALL COURT IN MIDDLE OF FOREST, LIT AT NIGHT, washer/dryer

Guest Cottage has living room, two bedrooms, 2 decks, and 1 bathroom

Romantic treehouse with queen bed, skylight, stain glass window, deck

Dogs are welcome. However we need to be informed at booking about how many dogs and what kind. There is a $100 per week per pet fee or $25 per night + HST

We prefer to rent this property by the week in high season, and may refuse shorter rentals even though the days are open. Friday is usually the changeover day. The weekday rental price is based on your renting it for the weekend. If you are only renting during the week, without the weekend, the price will be higher than reflected in the calendar.

THIS IS AN ISLAND PROPERTY on Ontario's largest (and most beautiful) wilderness lake. We have the fastest internet available, but don't expect to easily be able to stream or for it to be as fast as what we have in the city. Also, there are three bathrooms- 2 have compost toilets- the third is a very fancy outhouse with running water, windows, mirrored closet and finished walls. The indoor shower is in the main cottage bathroom. A second shower is outdoors, in the guest cottage, and the third is also outdoors, in back of the basketball court.

Water is treated so it is drinkable from all the taps

Bathroom: 3 piece bathroom on first floor- compost toilet that flushes with water like a regular toilet but should only be used at night
Second Floor Bedroom: queen bed
First floor
Bedroom 1: bunk beds; bottom is double size
Bedroom 2: queen bed
Bathroom: 3 piece with outdoor private shower with own hot water tank so you do not run out of hot water with a big group. Compost toilet that you put mulch into.
Loft Bedroom: queen bed
First floor bedroom: narrow bunk beds in tiny bedroom
Living room: futon couch that opens to double bed
4 single beds
Queen bed + skylight

THIRD BATHROOM; powder room and the fanciest out house you have ever seen with drywall, linoleum floor, flush toilet mirrored wall and sink. It is best to use this bathroom during the day [and you will want to cause it is lovely and private]

Third shower- outdoors , own hot water heater, in back of basketball court
