Peace and quiet begins when you vacation in this picturesque Blue Mountain cottage . Laze on the verandah in the hammock or hang out on the deck overlooking the Yallahs River and Blue Mountain Peak serenaded by birdsong or go for a hike in the hills.
The simplicity of mountain living is enhanced by rich tropical vegetation all around. You can step outside any month of the year to barbecue your favourite meal, or enjoy the fully equipped kitchen. The cottage is simple, clean and comfortable. There is space for five or six to enjoy the comforts of this cottage.
Guests have access to the whole house, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and the surrounding garden and mountain setting. Within 45 minutes drive from the city of Kingston and a little more to some of the most delightful beaches on the South Coast.
Interaction with Guests
Guests can enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains, or we can get together to hike in the beautiful Blue Mountains. There are many mountain trails within close proximity, Botanical gardens and sparkling waterfalls and mountain streams. I live in close proximity, on the same property, just through the luscious vegetation, next door.
Because of the remote nature of the location, it would be ideal to have some form of your own transport, even better SUV. Buses run to near the cottage, but infrequently. I can assist with arranging pick up and drop off if necessary.
Please leave the house tidy.
Dispose of garbage in appropriate containers.
Alison was a wonderful host, going above and beyond by picking us up in Kingston and driving us back down. The house is beautifully designed, very comfortable, and the setting is serene and spectacular. The Blue Mountains are remote and lovely. We hiked the Salt Hill Trail from her house down into Mavis Bank, where we intended to visit the coffee factory there. Unfortunately, it was only open Mon- Fri. The walk was demanding but so, so interesting. We truly enjoyed our stay and conversations with you Alison! Hammocks, lovely flowers, Scrabble and chess. We hope to be back one day!
I stayed at Alison's wonderful house in the blue mountains with my two travel companions for a couple of nights. Alison is probably the best host I have ever encountered through AirBnB. In addition to being a sweet, emphatic and caring person she also went far above and beyond what one could expect from her as a host. She picked us up in Kingston and brought us all the way up in the mountains to the cabin. She arranged a fantastic hike to the top of Blue Mountain Peak and picked us up when we got back down and finally she also arranged transportation for us back down to Kingston. All her help made our stay a fantastic and memorable experience.
The house was great and had everything we needed - including a fantastic view and the perfect chilled mountain vibe.
I highly recommend staying with Alison.
We stayed for a week in December and it was exactly what we were looking for to get away from the rush of the holidays. Alison sent a map and the directions in advance and advised us on the temperature at that time of year. Upon arrival she was outside to meet us and give us a tour of the cozy cottage stocked with wood for the fireplace and fresh fruits from the property. Alison is a beautiful spirit, who we had a few discussions with during our stay, she even blessed us one day with her homemade peach wine.
Truly was a great experience that I would do all over.
Alison's house is in wonderland. After a scenic drive thru Blue Mountain villages, guided by excellent directions and provided with a hand drawn map, Alison welcomed me, surrounded by her wondrous garden of coffee, bananas, and jungle, to my home for the next few days in 3,500 feet altitude: A house in perfect order, fully equipped with everything one would need plus a warm and inviting spirit. Breathtaking views over misty valleys and steep ridges--I can't even begin to describe how I felt. But I know one thing: in this absolute beauty, time stands still.
Our stay at Alison's was exactly what we needed, quiet and peaceful. the cottage sits on a nice plot of land with lots of flowers and trees. the owner lives a bit further down, closeby when needed, but still respecting our privacy. the area makes some great hiking trails, we went up there a few times, and the view is just amazing. the cottage itself is very large, and fully equipped, however, we never got the wifi to work. there are two showers, two double beds, and two single beds, so plenty of space. the roads toward the cottage are pretty bad, take your time on them, and make sure your car has enough clearance. all in all, we really enjoyed our week at Alison's, she is an amazing woman, very helpful and kind. thank you Alison for letting us stay!
Super nice experience. Not easy to get there but really worth the road. Alison is a great host. The house is really nice. Nice style with all wood upstairs which is great. There's even a fire place to warm it up at night. Hammocks made our stay so relaxing. This place is something special. lots of plants and birds. I recommend this house cause once you get there it is something special. A true Jamaican mountain experience.
Alison was a wonderful host, and her place was amazing. We walked all over in the mountains surrounding her beautiful home, and the locals at quashed gap were incredibly sweet and helpful. The drive up from Kingston is steep, but well worth it to spend a little time away from the bustle and commerce of the city. The climate was refreshingly cool, and the biota of the mountainsides made for breathtaking views from the hammocks out front. Can't thank Alison enough, and I highly recommend her place to anyone looking for something more fulfilling than the typical resort package and beachside hawkers.
