Planning a trip to San Francisco? Then why not stay in the heart of the city in the historic Haight Ashbury district. Located in a classic 1907 Victorian house, we have a fully furnished private room in a shared modern studio on the ground floor. There is another room ( room # 1) in the studio which may be used by other BnB guests.
Feel free to browse through the pictures to get a better idea, but here's a quick description:
- The apartment has a good size kitchen/living room with direct access to a large backyard with picnic table and chairs.
-The bedroom number 2 (14 ft by 10 ft) has a queen sized bed with a comfortable mattress. Also included in the room are a small desk and a closet .
-There is high speed internet to the rooms.
-LOCATION, Location, Location!! With Haight street literally being just a block away, there are never ending options for restaurants, pubs, shops, health food stores, boutiques & cafes
Extremely convenient public transportation: adjacent to 6 & 71 bus lines which take you straight down Market Street into the heart of San Francisco, also adjacent to the 43 bus line and two blocks from the 33 which takes you to the Mission District.
- Great food and bars! Across the street is Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery, and all less than 5 minutes away are: Squat & Gobble Cafe & Crepery, Pork Store Cafe, The Alembic, Hobson's Choice, and Cha Cha Cha.
- Many excellent grocery stores: Haight Street Market is 1.5 blocks away, Whole Foods is 5 blocks down Haight Street, and a new brand new Bi-Rite Store just opened up 8 blocks away.
- Boutique shopping galore: tons of specialty shops, thrift shops, and high end clothing stores right here on Haight Street.
-A post office is half a block away, so feel free to drop off a postcard to your friends/family on your walk to Haight Street.
-With its rich history, walking down Haight street is definitely an experience and gives you insight into why this was the heart of the Hippie movement! Diverse crowds and unique shops are all part of the experience.
-If you like to run/bike/or just enjoy being outdoors, you are in luck. Our house is a block away from the pan handle park. If you want the real deal, then just walk down three blocks and find yourself at the start of Golden Gate Park, where there are multiple museums (Academy of Sciences, Flower Conservatory, etc) and year around events. Always something to do here!
-If you are a fan of water, then a quick 15 minute drive away is the Pacific Ocean, where on warm and yes even cold weekends, people can be found lounging, surfing, swimming, etc!
-A bike rental place is a few blocks down, so this is another fantastic way to explore the city on a bike. You can put your bike in the back yard or the garage.
My wife and I live in the upstairs unit of the building. We are both working professionals and are home usually in the evenings. However, I can be reached via cell phone 24/7. The great thing about living on site is it allows us to address any questions/concerns you may have. We are both laid back and respectful. We have lived in this city close to 20 years, so we can help you with suggestions on places to visit, eat, etc.
Thank you for visting our page! Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this listing. We look forward to having you stay with us.
PEACE. LOVE. HAIGHT.

Nice family, very nice place, great location. Thanks for a fun visit to SF!
The place is very tidy and clean, kitchen area had everything needed to cook meals. The room was quite cold and he provided us with a heater that warmed the room slowly. Location is good for checking out haight st. When you want to visit other places public transport is pretty efficient and shouldn't take too long. Only problem was the tv, seemed like it was in duel mode, as in..There are multiple tvs in the house and they are all on the same channel. So if one person changes the channel all the tvs change. This place is great and I recommend it to anyone visiting this area.
We stayed in room 2 at Ashir and Margaret's place
For 7 nights. They were very nice and welcoming hosts. They kept to themselves, as they live in the floor above, but were present and attentive whenever we had any questions or needed anything. The place is pretty basic, but has all the amenities one could want or need including high speed wifi, cable tv, a pretty complete kitchen and is an especially great spot considering the very reasonable nightly rate. The neighborhood is also fantastic and I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting San Francisco on a budget. Thanks Ashir and Margaret!
This is a great place for the money in a wonderful part of town. It was quiet, safe and comfortable and just a block away from Haight. Close to the park and public transportation. Rent a bike and ride across the bridge into Sausalito!
Ashir and Margaret were great hosts. Comfortable accommodations and in a great location close to Haight Street and Golden Gate Park. I'd recommend their place to anyone looking for a comfy spot to stay when visiting the city!
October 17-22, 2013.
Ash's (he said call him that) place is Spartan i.e simple, clean, basic. The kitchen is large, quite adequate and well equipped for even big meals.
The bedroom I had was fine for just going to sleep but not for spending any time in it's spartan furnishings. But I must say the bed was very comfortable and I have a bad back.
The bathroom has a small sink with very little ledge space for toiletries. The shower does NOT give hot water, only warm water after running for a few minutes; even though at the same time the sink tap water is HOT.
The apartment is located 10-15 minutes by Haight street bus from Market and Van Ness. Very convenient.
Try the Blue Note cafe for breakfast or sandwiches on Haight between Ashbury and Masonic.
The space is in a great location, walk a few blocks and you can already reach the markets, shops, and bars of Haight. If you want to travel to the other neighborhoods, there are a couple of bus stops nearby as well. We flew in to SF a bit earlier so the owners were accommodating to letting us check-in when we arrived. Overall, the space has the basic needs; my friend and I spent the majority of the trip out traveling, but slept very soundly on the comfortable bed. For an affordable place to stay while you're traveling, I would recommend this place.
This is a room with a double bed, small desk and a wardrobe in an appartment where another room is also rented out to guests. Bathroom and kitchen are shared, you have access to the terrace and garden. Everything was fine, the kitchen is big and has all items you might need (Microwave, toaster, coffee maker etc.) The furniture etc. is a bit worn and it has been some time since the last renovation but everything was clean, except the window, which to me is not a big issue. The place is in the middle of Haight-Ashbury, Haight Street is 2 min. walk away, close to Golden Gate Park etc. The room is rather cold but there is an electric fan heater you can use. I needed it (in October), the room is probably not so well isolated. I had no contact to the hosts, except for a brief 2 minutes when checking in.
Great place to stay! Everything was confortable and clean and nice. Great location. We really enjoyed.
Ashir and his wife were very nice and accommodating to our travel needs. Our stay Friday night went fine. The room was a bit warm, but after opening the window we were able to sleep comfortably, and so was our infant. Saturday night was a different story. Again it was very warm and there was no fan. There was also a house party at the house behind where we were staying blasting Techno music until at least 4 am. As soon as the music stopped and my husband and I finally fell asleep, the tenant that lived about our room came home and were VERY loud. You could hear everything that was going on above us. Heels clomping, music blaring and people talking loudly. I'm guessing all that noise stopped at about 6. Lucky for us the baby slept through most of it, but we got maybe 3 hours of sleep. It was pretty much miserable. Despite the nice hosts, I would not stay there again-as a sleepless night is the worst!
