Looking for a romantic getaway? How about a bubble bath in a claw foot tub, a candlelit dinner you prepared together in a fully equipped kitchen, and a comfy queen bed to relax in while hearing the babbling water from a goldfish pond just outside your door?
Or maybe you are in town on business and need to get a little work done before you relax? How about complimentary coffee and tea, internet access, a flat screen TV with HBO and Showtime, a verandah to sit on and enjoy your secret garden.
Well then come join the bohemian spirt of East Austin! We are centrally located on the EAST side, just blocks from IH35 at 38 1/2, with loads of coffee shops, restaurants, stores, and parks, all within walking distance.
Need a way around? There is a bus stop just a short walk away at 381/2 & Cherrywood Road, check-out Capital Metro
A commuter train station a little longer walk away at:
MLK Train Station at 1719 Alexander Blvd. & MLK Blvd., check-out Capital Metro
Austin has Local Car Rental where you order their card, download an app and walk to the car and drive it away and you only pay for the time you used it... see Car2go. Also lots of cabs some are even pedicabs (bicycle cabs that work for tips)!
You may park in the driveway. Go through the white gate to the back white bungalow behind the main house. The yard and fish pond behind the dividing fence is yours to use. The gas grill is shared with the main house but you are welcome to use it.
I have basically a self check-in. You may come anytime after 3pm (sometimes sooner if requested). There is a blue notebook explaining how to use things but you are always welcome to call me anytime day or night with issues or questions.
The neighborhood is basically safe with lots of walkers, joggers, and bicyclers. There are multiple coffee shops, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, etc. within walking distance. The bus stop is less than a block away.
The cottage in the back was tastefully designed and had all the amenities necessary for our stay. For the most part it was very quiet; the train that ran behind the property was hardly noticeable. We loved the Cherrywood Cafe a block's walk away. I would definitely stay there again.
LOVED TRUDY'S BUNGALOW! My husband, 6 mo. old and I recently stayed here for a friend's wedding and we wanted something more private than a hotel room since my son is still so young I didn't want to disturb people if he cried. The bungalow was so clean and well decorated! The claw footed tub called my name immediately and within 30 minutes I was relaxing in it! The bed was comfortable and Trudy really thought of everything from the wifi and DVR TV, to the lighting and appropriate outlet placement. The kitchen is adorable and she had free coffee with creamer in the fridge! I will DEFINITELY be staying here again when I return to Austin.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Cherrywood Bungalow for our first trip to Austin, and the experience could not have been more sensational. Trudy made sure every inch of the place was suited for a comfortable and enjoyable stay with everything we could possibly need, and we were just down the street from great food, grocery stores, and a coffee shop that puts Starbucks to shame. Additionally, the area felt quite safe, even as we walked back from the bus stop after a night downtown, and there is plenty of privacy in the porch/pond area. Overall, I felt we could not have had a better trip to Austin, and we would happily stay at the bungalow again for our next visit!
Had a great time at Trudy's bungalow - an adorable, cozy space in a great part of Austin. Loved the clawfoot tub and falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the backyard fountain!
Trudy is a wonderful host, she always helped us out with any questions we had. The Bungalow is beautiful, every detail in the interior design is well-planned and functional, yet cozy and carefully put together. It's quiet and has everything one might need. Moreover, there are several local buses stopping close by in case you don't have a car. I can only recommend a stay with her.
The Cherrywood Bungalow will not disappoint. The bungalow is a picturesque and very clean space. Trudy stocks the bungalow with all the basic toiletries and amenities- she really thought of everything. Trudy's bungalow/Austin- tips binder was very helpful in finding some great East Austin eateries.
I rented this place for my parents over the holidays and they absolutely loved it. A beautiful secluded spot, lots of privacy, lovely kitchen/bathroom with all kinds of extra amenities (coffee, frozen mugs, etc.). Very charming, good neighborhood, extremely clean and a very responsive host. Would definitely return.
This bungalow is awesome -- I really can't say enough about how cute it is, how comfy, and how Trudy left just about every little item that a guest may have otherwise forgotten or might need. I wouldn't change a thing! The claw foot bath, the kitchen, the very comfortable bed -- even the goldfish pond is wonderful! I only wish we could have stayed longer and would love to stay again!
My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at Trudy's bungalow. It was very clean and thoughtfully designed. I had a nice soak in the claw foot tub and our dog enjoyed exploring the yard. Wish we could have stayed longer!
A great place, great host, highly recommend.
