Relax with friends and family at "Sunset Bay". Just built in 2024, this 700 sqft. 2 bedroom cottage is stylish and quaint and offers some of the most sought after views that the Outer Banks can offer. Nestled back in the heart of Kitty Hawk Village on Hay Point, guests will enjoy a private and peaceful stay right over the marsh with shared dock access. We are only 1.8 miles from the Kitty Hawk Beach bathhouse and centrally located to many restaurants, food/convenience stores, and local shops.
The space
Your stay at Sunset Bay is your own private 2 bed and 1 bath cottage. You will park in the unpaved oyster parking area next to the front cottage. You will walk down the sidewalk towards your cottage that is located towards the back of the property.
This cottage boasts large windows and an open deck that accentuate the amazing marsh and sunset views on the bay.
The larger cottage that is also on the same property in front is an additional Airbnb rental. Their parking is the paved driveway in front of their cottage. Please make sure you only park in your designated are.
The canal/marsh dock as well as the gray chairs that are located out front on the bay are shared spaces with the other Airbnb on the property.
Guest access
Waterfront Views and Outdoor Access:
-The two gray chairs and bench that are out on the water facing the bay in the front yard are for your use, as well as the other Airbnb guests that are in front of your cottage.
-The two white chairs as well as the dock with the gazebo to the left belong to the homeowners next door and are not for your use, this is private property and not for your use.
-There is a path out in front of your cottage that leads the other Airbnb guests from the cottage in front of you to the dock behind your cottage as well.
-Swimming is not recommended behind the cottage in the canal or out front in the bay.
-Please do not touch or get on the boat that is docked out at the canal behind the cottage. This is private property of the owners.
-If using kayaks, you are welcome to put in behind your house in the canal (this is recommended). Depending on your comfort, you may also put in out front on the bay side. Kayaks are use at your own risk.

Beaches and Sound access:
There are scenic roads and a multi-use path (1.5 miles away) that you can walk to or access by bike to enjoy our local landscapes and wildlife. At the end of the multi-use path is a covered deck and a small beach that is on Kitty Hawk Bay. Beautiful place to watch sunsets.
Our home is a quick 5 minute drive (1.8 miles) straight across the bypass to the beach. You have access to public parking and a bathhouse! If you hang late on the beach and are thirsty and hungry there are two excellent restaurants with outdoor bars located right next to the beach access.
Gas/convenience:
Our home is just 1.5 miles from the closest convenience store and gas station.
Shopping/Groceries:
A beautiful 8 minute drive (4 miles) down a road full of woods and beautiful trees will take you to Walmart, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Home Depot, Starbucks, Dollar Tree, and many other smaller stores including a nail salon and Chinese take out.
Booking during Hurricane Season (June 1st-Nov. 30th):
Booking a stay on our little sandbar during Hurricane season does carry the risk of your stay being effected by a storm. These storms are unpredictable and can occur most often days or maybe a week before your stay. As listed, we have a strict cancellation policy with no refund for stays cancelled within 7 days of your arrival. We do not refund your stay if you must be evacuated or choose to leave the area. We encourage guests booking during this season to purchase their own travel insurance policy through an independent company or through Airbnb if they are nervous about this and would like peace of mind about receiving some sort of refund. Some of the most beautiful times of the year on the Outer Banks are during Hurricane season, but our policies are important for you to consider when booking.
