Our experience at Marion's cottage could not have been better. The location is immersed in nature, quiet and surrounded by trees. From the cottage there is a short walk to Marion's private dock. There is a 3 block walk to a public beach nearby which has a view of the bay, trees and grassy hillsides. The drive to amenities such as the Bow market Marion recommends (which has everything we needed) and Main Street in Freeport is between 5-10 minutes. Freeway access for our outings up and down the coast is also about a 10 minute drive. The design of the downstairs of the cottage is an open plan including the living room, kitchen and dining table. The kitchen had all we needed for a family of four. A screened-in porch is right off the living room. The lack of clutter was easy on the mind and the furnishings are very comfortable. The bedrooms are upstairs and were also very comfortable. An unexpected bonus for us was the Outdoor Discovery School at L.L. Bean, about a five minute drive. We took classes in skeet shooting, kayaking and paddle boarding. All of these activities had transportation that left from L.L. Bean and took us to river, bay or shooting range. Prices for these introductory classes were between $25 and $35. We also rented bikes at Wolf's Neck Farm, another short drive. As you can guess we are looking forward to returning to Marion's Freeport Cottage.

Our stay with Marion was absolutely perfect. My mom and two cousins planned a "girl's trip" to see the Fall Foliage. After a long day of travel, we arrived to find a bottle of wine, fruit, some gorgeous bread from a local bakery, preserves and butter. Marion came to visit us the next morning and made sure we arrived and were comfortable. The house has everything you need, great living and eating area and comfy beds. The setting on the water is gorgeous and we had the full Maine experience, complete with kindness and good old-fashioned hospitality. Marion, thank you once again for everything. I hope to stay with you again on our visits to see our boy at Bowdoin College. Danielle + Family

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Freeport. The cottage was exactly as described. Only two minutes off the beaten track of downtown Freeport, but a world apart in the tranquility of tall trees and the bay. The cottage was clean and well maintained. Appointments were comfortable. While AT&T coverage was spotty, Wi-Fi in the cottage worked just fine. The location was very private. Our hosts were welcoming and yet respectful of our space. Full of good suggestions for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed them.

Marion and her husband are the warmest people you will meet. Their cottage on the Maine Coast is quintessential New England. When we arrived, we discovered they were so kind to have some fresh goodies from their local farmers market for us. This is the second time we have stayed at this special place. I would highly recommend it!

Wow! Our family just returned home after a great week in Maine, highlighted by our fantastic experience at Marion's Cottage! The cottage is even better than described, clean, open floor plan, and the perfect size for a family with two adults, two children and two Labrador retrievers. The grounds offer great opportunities to explore and the beach is just a short walk away to catch the morning sunrise. Accessible to both Freeport and Yarmouth in minutes, and only 20 minutes to downtown Portland, this is a great launching point for many day trips. Marion and Corky were fabulous hosts, both from the local treats upon arrival, and their hospitality during the course of our stay. We'll be back annually and Marion's Cottage will be part of the draw!

Marion went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. She contacted me and gave me a 2-3 page writeup of things to do in the surrounding area before we arrived. We walked into the cabin to find a gift basket with wine/bread/jam which was so sweet of her. The home is beautiful and the town of Freeport is great for shopping and very centrally located if you feel like venturing out into neighboring areas. Beautiful views and fantastic host. I would highly recommend staying at Marions cabin.

My husband and I have lived in Maine for 20 years, built two homes on our property in South Freeport along the Harraseeket River. We love the outdoors, and love to travel. We have a warm and inviting home, and 12 acres of beautiful woods along the water. We have always owned dogs, and currently live and travel with our two labs. In the winter, we travel to Boca Grande FL to chase the sun and warmth. But we always miss our home in Maine. Other favorite destinations: St.Andrews NB Canada, Desbarats, Ontario Canada.
