We had a lovey stay at Dar Ivissa - fantastic value, recommended!
It's located right in the heart of the Medina, so it's perfect for getting stuck into Marrakech and making your way through the souks/markets. Amazingly though the Riad itself is very quiet and peaceful, which makes a difference after a long day of haggling and sightseeing!
The room was nice and cleaned daily. It's nothing too fancy, but was perfectly nice and suited us fine.
The best thing was the breakfast - every morning at a time of our choice we had eggs, pancakes, bread, jam, coffee, tea, juice etc - it was really nice and sets you up perfectly for a day of exploring.
We never actually met Khamsi, but the medina staff were very friendly and helped arrange taxis. One downside is that the wifi doesn't really work in the room, but the signal is quite good in the lobby (which is very comfortable).
Overall, we'd really recommend this Riad - it's incredible value for money for such a nice, clean, safe room right in the Medina, and breakfast is a big bonus.
We had a nice stay at this Riad, we loved having breakfast cooked for us everyday :). After travelling for 4.5 months, the little things make a big difference. The location was good and inside the Medina.
Dar Ivissa is a perfect place to stay in Marrakech.
It's more of a Bed and breakfast or hotel experience than a typical Airbnb experience with a full time staff, cleaning your room daily, doing your laundry, serving you their fresh absolutely top notch breakfast, and you can even have lunch or dinner at the Dar for an extra cost, really good and fresh, worth while having when you don't feel like going out for a meal. We were also offered a free superb transport service from the airport to the place and took that service to the airport at the end (for a cost this time but it's well worth it if you have lot's of luggage).
Although its "hotel" qualities, it still gives you a perfectly authentic Marrakech experience with the beautiful Moroccan decoration and personal treatment of the staff, Youssef and Nisa, who made us feel welcome at all times and were incredibly sensible and available 24/7. When one of us got really sick, they took amazing care of us, when the hot water didn't work in our bathroom they attempted to fix it right away and when it reoccured they switched our room, we didn't even need to ask. Youssef even taught us the secrets of making a perfect Moroccan tea and let us make our own tea and use the kitchen if we needed, so you can feel the Airbnb private host experience if that's what you're looking for.
Also the owner, Khamsi is very available and most importantly flexible. Although we never met her, it was easy to reach her.
The wifi works but not so much in the rooms, you might need to do your internet work in the living room which is anyway a very pleasant place to sit and chill. The terrace is also wonderful for chilling and tanning!
The location is as centred as it can get in the Medina, the place is indeed quiet but as soon as you take the turn into the street you're at the heart of Marrakech's medina full on craziness with J'ma El Fna a few min walk away.
We took the excursion deal they offer for the dessert and really didn't like it -if you're coming to Morocco for a while and can afford to, rent a car and a GPS and go on your own or get a private guide deal elsewhere. However if you're coming for a short stay it's quite convenient, cheap, quick and robotically touristic which might suit some more than others.
All in all, we've travelled all over Morocco and stayed at many places and can assure you that at this price range this place is at the highest standard you can get. So if value for money is important to you- stay here.
In the middle of the medina, the riad is calm and beautiful. The room we had was super cute. The staff was kind and welcoming. Breakfast was perfect to start the day. Nothing wrong, great value for the cheap price. Thank you very much.
We stayed in Ivissa 6 nights. The host - Josef, organized transport from, and then to the airport.
Breakfast was a true feast, we got 2 types of pancakes, eggs, coffee with milk, cake, jam - anything one could wish for.
Room was cozy, bathroom really nice. It was a bit chilly at this time of year (november), so pack your slippers.
Our room was cleaned every day, with new towels.
We signed up for 2 trips: Essaouira and Sahara. The host was very nice to help us decide for these trips, and also for the rest of the stay.
Fatima's cooking was truly amazing, so if you have a chance, go for it.
I think it was great value, host is very helpful, and quality of room/amenities is really great.
Beautiful riad, quite easy to find (However there is no house number); close to the djama el fna and the medersa. Great breakfast and wellcoming atmosphere.
We had a really good time in this riad, breakfast in the mornings was nice, the people working there were friendly and helpful, and there is a shuttle service to pick up and bring people back to the airport. The only thing is that the rooms really aren't very soundproof (it was never loud but we had to keep voices, music etc. down), but maybe that's normal for a riad. Anyway, I would recommend this place!
