About This Listing
This sweet first-floor one bedroom apartment is on a quiet street on the bikepath in the heart of the heart of Madison near the Willy Street co-op, terrific restaurants, buslines. It sleeps two or three. The kitchen has what you need. Artist owned and decorated! Come on in.
This house built at the turn of the century for railroad workers is simple but has about everything. Wood floors, gas cook stove, beautiful art, washer dryer in the basement. Two sleep comfortably in the BRAND NEW queen bed with cotton sateen sheets and home made art quilts to snuggle under. There is an option to use the futon in the living room for more sleeping space. One dog (that behaves) is fine with me.
You will be a block from the Willy Street co-op, a dozen restaurants, a hardware store a pharmacy, and the very best bakery in Madison! The house is 2-3 miles from the campus and 13 blocks from the state capital. We are 5 blocks from lake Monona and 6 from the big lake Mendota. The bus line is 2 blocks away and the house is on the bike path. We have a small farmer's market on Tuesdays from 4-7 a few blocks away. When people are asked "what is Madison to you?" this is the part of town they describe: the hip Bohemian, super cool near east side. This is a no smokers habitat.
I live around the corner and work at home and will be available to welcome guests in and point them to to all the good stuff. I have coffee and tea for your delight. Cream? Sugar?
I love having a walking life. Here on the east side you can walk to the beach, to St. Vinney's thrift store, to the coffee shop, to the food coop. The houses are close and we as neighbors care about each other and look out for each other. There are rental bikes available nearby and the apartment is on the bike path! Wooo hooo!
the bus to go everywhere is 2 blocks away. there is generally plenty of parking on the street. From the airport take a taxi.
No smokers, No smoking!!!! I prefer not to rent to Smokers. Please leave the place as you found it. If you have a dog, walk him on a leash and pick up after him. If he sleeps on the sofa please put down a sheet so he's not on my quilt. If you need anything I live right around the corner.
We had a wonderful stay at Cherie's place. It is conveniently located on a quiet street with easy access to shops and restaurants on Willy St. and close enough to walk or bike downtown.
The apartment is very welcoming (as are the neighbors) and nicely decorated with handmade quilts. We had everything we needed and Cherie provided coffee and bagels for us as well. It was great! I would highly recommend a stay here.
Cherie welcomed us with a huge smile into her cozy and bright place. It has lots of her quilt art everywhere, which made us feel right at home. It is situated right on one of the main bike paths in Madison, which makes for interesting viewing out the window! Everything you might need is only a short walk away, including one of the best bakeries, a great organic co-op store, and a pub with great beer! Lots of arty people around this area of town. The kitchen was fully stocked with breakfast things, and Cherie even left cream and cream cheese for the bagels in the fridge. Comfortable bed, nice to cook on a gas stove, fully stocked kitchen. Everything was great about this place, and we'd love to stay again sometime.
Great location with great restaurants within walking distance. Easy access to the capital. House was clean, excellent computer work desk, front porch, and very comfortable bed. Tenant upstairs was super friendly. Basement shared laundry worked well. Overall a great stay and would recommend! -Thanks Cherie for a great stay and sorry for the miscommunication on cleaning the floors when departing.
Loved staying in Cherie's "cool and arty" apartment. It's super cute, was exceptionally clean and the location is unbeatable - walkable to all the eclectic spots on Willy Street and a great jumping off point for any activities near the capitol. Cherie was communicative and accommodating throughout the booking process and during my stay, though I had total privacy without disturbance. I look forward to staying here again!
The apartment is actually more spacious than it looks in photos, and located in a very nice neighborhood. Coffee and bagels came in very handy :-)
