This sweet first-floor one bedroom apartment is on a quiet street on the bikepath in the heart of the heart of Madison near the Willy Street co-op, terrific restaurants, buslines. It sleeps two or three. The kitchen has what you need. Artist owned and decorated! Come on in.
This house built at the turn of the century for railroad workers is simple but has about everything. Wood floors, gas cook stove, beautiful art, washer dryer in the basement. Two sleep comfortably in the BRAND NEW queen bed with cotton sateen sheets and home made art quilts to snuggle under. There is an option to use the futon in the living room for more sleeping space. One dog (that behaves) is fine with me.
You will be a block from the Willy Street co-op, a dozen restaurants, a hardware store a pharmacy, and the very best bakery in Madison! The house is 2-3 miles from the campus and 13 blocks from the state capital. We are 5 blocks from lake Monona and 6 from the big lake Mendota. The bus line is 2 blocks away and the house is on the bike path. We have a small farmer's market on Tuesdays from 4-7 a few blocks away. When people are asked "what is Madison to you?" this is the part of town they describe: the hip Bohemian, super cool near east side. This is a no smokers habitat.
I live around the corner and work at home and will be available to welcome guests in and point them to to all the good stuff. I have coffee and tea for your delight. Cream? Sugar?
I love having a walking life. Here on the east side you can walk to the beach, to St. Vinney's thrift store, to the coffee shop, to the food coop. The houses are close and we as neighbors care about each other and look out for each other. There are rental bikes available nearby and the apartment is on the bike path! Wooo hooo!
the bus to go everywhere is 2 blocks away. there is generally plenty of parking on the street. From the airport take a taxi.

We were a bit delayed getting into Madison but Cherie was very flexible in meeting us later and making sure we had everything we needed. He friendliness was much appreciated.
The apartment is clean, but a bit ratty, as are many apartments on the east side. Randomly, there were no water glasses to be found in the kitchen, only mugs. And we found out the hard way that there was no key for one of the door knob locks! We were able to open the lock using a credit card though, but the process was a little stressful. Needless to say, the Ritz this place was not, but still, the bed was very comfortable and the heater worked well.
Comfortable, beautiful place. 20 minute walk to downtown, 5-10 minute walk from excellent food and drink (Lazy Jane's, Willy Street Coop, Weary Traveler). Cherie's super friendly and on top of things - really enjoyed interacting with her. Highly recommend!
We had a great stay in this apartment. You can't beat the location for enjoying the best Madison has to offer. Cherie was a great host, very helpful in catering to our stay with a baby, flexibility around checking in and out, and a kitchen with lots to offer. The apartment was very cozy and the bed super comfortable. It's rare to find a bed that I like as much as my own, but this one fit the bill. So much better than a hotel for all these reasons. Thanks to Cherie for helping make our visit to Madison so lovely. I wish we could have stayed longer.
I had a very nice stay. Cherie was a very friendly and welcoming host. The apartment is conveniently located. Its possible to walk or bike to the town center or the university. The neighborhood is good too, with a selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Nice home in great location. Loved the East side location right off Willy Street. Easy walking to restaurants, shops and the Co-Op. If you have a bike - bring it along! The bed was quite comfortable and with the fan overhead we only had to run the AC when it was over 90 degrees. The bathroom is a little small especially the shower so if you're a larger person - beware. The Wi-Fi worked well. We communicated easily with Cherie and she was very accommodating meeting us at the apartment on our time schedule. It was fairly easy finding street parking in front of the apartment. If you love the East Side of Madison, this is the place for you.
Cherie was a great hostess. She was easy to communicate with and very helpful with everything from food recommendations to dog parks to yoga studios.
Great stay! The location was perfect for our family. We enjoyed being able to walk to places with our kids. We had breakfast on the front porch and watched the bikes go by. The decor is unique and fun. Cherie provided all that we needed and then some! We appreciated how available she was for questions beforehand and odds and ends while we were there.
We spent a week there and had a great time! The place was perfectly clean, comfortable and in walking distance to all the bars, shops, co-ops and restaurants.
Cherie was a great host, gave us suggestions on where to go and even sewed a button back on my shorts :)
Next time we will definitely bring our bicycles and take advantage of the local trail system.
Cherie was a great host! She was very communicative and helpful. The apartment was clean, comfortable, cheerful, and bright with a unique decor. It felt like a home away from home. The neighborhood is quiet with street parking and is close to all of the great spots Madison has to offer. I highly recommend this rental and Cherie as a host!
Cherie's apartment was such an amazing place to stay right of Willy Street. Cherie was great to keep in touch with and the apartment was clean and in such a great location. We had such a great time during out stay and would absolutely recommend Cherie's apartment to anyone looking to stay in Madison.
