This charming cottage is part of The Waterfall Retreat Centre, 35 minutes west of Durban. Nestled within 28 acres of pristine, preserved natural environment with stunning views over the Nkutu Valley & forests, it’s perfect for a nurturing retreat. The reserve is home to bushbucks, porcupines, rock rabbits, and crowned eagles. Guests can enjoy the gardens and scenic walks in Nkutu Valley.

REGRET: NO PETS OR CHILDREN. We only accept guests with at least five previous 5-star reviews.

The space
The cottage was built by hand, with lots of love over the period of a year. It is built with special attention to detail and has lots of warmth and charm. Being the first building on the property it is situated on the prime stand with panoramic views into the valley, forests and rock cliffs. When the river is running strongly you can hear it from the cottage.

Where you’ll be

eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Waterfall is virtually a suburb of Hillcrest, lying as it does directly north of Kloof and adjacent to Hillcrest and Forest Hill, barely 30 plus kilometres outside of Durban.

This is the main advantage of a stay in Waterfall - that you are on the outskirts of the city. The other rather obvious one is that one inevitably beats the heat of the city. In Waterfall, one is far enough from city life to 'escape' it, whilst remaining close enough to the pulse of all one still needs for convenience. Subsequently, Waterfall functions as a sanctuary without depriving you of creature comforts. Guests have often commented that they cannot believe they are only 35 minutes outside of Durban.
