For the price the house is really excellent--a true Thai teak house with the bedroom & bathroom upstairs, screened in, and a large outdoor space both upstairs and below. A kitchen, refrigerator, and parking are also below. All nicely furnished and landscaped.
Bob is a generous host, picked me up at airport and gave me tons of local advise. We even had dinner together with his daughter one evening.
But you need to know the house is a ways from Chiang Mai proper. That is not all bad as it is more authentic out his way and there is a truly terrific restaurant just around the corner (great food, charming people & inexpensive). I rented a good scooter (Bob helped) and drove back and forth, but it is a ways.
Bob was super friendly, and had good information on the area. The restaurant he recommended just around the corner was our favorite meal in Chaing Mai!! The accomadations were a great value for the price. Again bob was super hospitable offered us his moter bike and also, gave us a ride to the airport. We would recommend Bob's place Go Red Wings!! Actually, I missed my flight so I wasn't able to stay at Bob's.
Bob's property is gorgeous! We stayed in a beautiful teak wood house in the tropical green paradise that is his property. It is complete with an adjacent running creak that really makes you feel like you're getting an authentic experience..
The property is located outside of the main city, but a very short motorbike ride to anything and everything Chiang Mai has to offer.
As for Bob, he's friendly and has a lot of helpful tips to share about local markets, food, and places to see. He's a cool guy that is easy to talk to. We had a great time chatting with him.
This is a wonderful place to stay. Traditional Thai architecture, set in tropical surroundings. A bit of a trek to Chang Mai. A small village nearby an interesting place to encounter locals.
We had such a great time at Bob's place! It's a little bit outside of chiang mai, but we really liked it to be a bit more away from all the noise and dirty air of chiang mai! Bob is a really nice man who knows chiang mai good and can tell you a lot about it! Thanks again Bob! Greetings, Ys & Eva from Holland
This house is value for money. Bob is a knowlegeable and accomodating host. He picked us up from the airport, and also dropped us off upon leaving. He was flexible in re-arranging sleeping accomdation for our daughters upon arrival; though we did not understand how the booking for 4 people could have been missed...The house is in traditional Lanna style and it is great to have private space on the wooden balcony and downstairs.
The location is at least 30 min by public transport to the main gates of the Old City, and relatively easy to arrange from the other side of the road. About an hours walk is Baan Tawai, a handicraft village (mainly toursist stuff) and a good antiques shop is around the corner. A 7/11 is 5 min away, as is a restaurant and place to get coffee.
We enjoyed our stay in Chaing Mai and would recommend staying with Bob and his daughter in Hangdon.
Merci Bob, we spent a lovely week! Peacfull teak house which has a lot of atmosphère in the beautiful garden. You are a plaisant and carefull host, your place is well situated, near bei restaurants, ATM, farmacy, massage and food cortes. The city You can reach easily with yellow cab till 6 o clock. Thank You !
Bob is great! Our group had three destinations in Thailand; Koh Samet, Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Bob opened his home to 11 of us. Something came up to where we couldn't get to Chiang Mai. I emailed Bob and totally understood our situation. Even though I we didn't get to stay at Bob's place he was very helpful and understanding through our situatuion. I would recommend Bob's Teak House as I plan to stay there for sure when we get a chance to go to Chiang Mai again. Thank you Bob for all your help!
The house locate behind the PTT gas station on the main road. It is private and build in the traditional style. Friendly host welcome us like we stay in our house.
